Popular Post Ann.without.an.e
Please don’t quote and I’ll delete the pic in a little. It’s been a long but great week and we’ve had babies since Tuesday night but too much going on to update. I feel like @KungFuPanda sort of said some of my thoughts about the Hive in her post. Y’all helped me school her. Helped me figure out how to navigate the college app stuff. When her hormones started crashing we were encouraged to look into PCOS. When she wasn’t getting pregnant y’all had a lot of good thoughts too. Then when she found out it was twins the twin mamas here had the best advice and I’m convinced the resources suggested here is why she was able to go to 36 weeks with mo-di twins (identical, same placenta). Gosh y’all even helped me think through what to pack for the hospital. The Hive has blessed my family again and again. For those who love cool birth stories (skip if you don’t) … We got to the hospital Monday morning to induce and DD was closed with no dilation so we knew this would take a while. They started her with cytotec to try to ripen. By Monday night she started contracting on her own but they added pitocin. It was quite an ordeal to try to monitor both heart rates on the fetal monitors. They didn’t want to increase pit without knowing how both girls were handling it and monitoring them both was almost impossible. I was already very hands on but I took over monitoring the babies on the screen and moving heart monitors as needed to keep track of them. Thankfully she was contracting on her own because baby A (let’s call her peach) was not having a favorable cardiac response to very much pit at all so they had to keep it low. DD labored all night and was at a 5 with 90% effacement Tuesday morning and by noon she was at a 7. I know that DD is incredible and has a good pain tolerance but she was sitting at a 7 and she was still smiling and wasn’t out of breath. She would just stop and breathe through a contraction. The nurse said that in all her years she’s never seen anyone so in control and handling it that well so late in the game without an epidural. Around 3:30 I got the feeling she may be fully dilated but the nurse dismissed it saying that dd would be reacting more. At 4:30 I said “maybe you should just check her, I know she’s not reacting like normal but she also hasn’t been the norm the entire time”. She checked her and we were right, she was sitting at a ten. She pushed for a while and at some point peach’s heart started dipping so the doctor wanted to keep trying to deliver vaginally but do it in the OR. This was hard because I couldn’t go 😭 About 45 minutes later the nurse who was with us ran back to me just to let me know that Peach was there and how it happened. The doctor was trying the vacuum. Peach’s heart rate was a little iffy and the doctor said “I think we’re gonna need to section” and then dd had an @Elizabeth86moment. She said “well I’m pushing” and she pushed that baby right out with quite the mama bear vigor. Nurse said it was quite badass. Unfortunately she tore a good bit and hemorrhaged a little but she’s ok. Baby B (let’s call her nectarine) came about 20 minutes later. They seemed super healthy and we thought we’d avoid the NICU but then by Tuesday morning we started having some issues with extremely low glucose levels and by 4 am they had to move them both to the NICU. The levels were dangerously low and the easier solutions like glucose gel and bottles weren’t working (levels would come up and then crash again). They are still in the NICU. Peach has been a little better than Nectarine and getting more food in at feedings. They tried to wean peach off the IV last night but she crashed again and they will try to wean them both again later this morning. Nectarine has also needed the warmer some. We are hopeful they will come home soon . DD wants to breastfeed so she’s been pumping every 2-3 hours to try to get her milk to come in so she’ll be ready to keep them going once they’re out. They are so precious. I hate that DD is having to face the emotional stress of being separated from them but hopefully it will not be too much longer. Any prayers or thoughts y’all want to send our way are appreciated. So meet Peach and Nectarine Born on 2-21-23 at 5 pounds 6 ounces and 5 pounds 3 ounces. stephanier.1765
That's a "wow" of a birth story! Your dd is just amazing! Those girls! Those precious, sweet little girls. You guys are killing me with all these beautiful babies and me not being able to hold them. I might need more grandchildren in my future. Congratulations to you all! I think the mayor needs to give your dd the keys to the city for that heroic act of childbirth.

Grace Hopper
Oooooooohhhh! They are gorgeous! Nice sizes for that sort of twins! A prayer that they stabilize soon. Yeah, your dd is badass. I ended up with a section due to Baby A being a stubborn breach (who permanently expanded my rib cage, thanks so much 😂). So glad you were there. I mean, maybe you didn’t get into the OR but you were a present advocate. I’d bet money your presence was a big factor in your dd’s impressive and calm laboring. Thanks for sharing. I love fellow twin mom stories and fellow boardies becoming grams.

Thank you ❤️ I really didn’t think of it but I had over 80 hours of labor on a lot of pitocin and no epidural. I feel like she handled it with less pain than me but she was also on very little pitocin so who knows 😂 18 minutes ago, busymama7 said: Awww! They are so sweet. What gestation were they? They were induced at 36+3 days and born at 36+4. They were thriving inside but the stillbirth rate goes up a lot for mo-di twins at 37 weeks so it is now standard to induce at 36. 4 minutes ago, Halftime Hope said: Aww! Congrats to you all! While the nicu part has been hard emotionally I think it has actually been a blessing for her to be able to rest.
