Ottakee
I was thinking about this today as I was outside mowing the lawn..........ok, i was really mowing down weeds on the horse pasture. I would MUCH rather be outside mowing the lawn/pasture than cleaning the house. I would rather scoop horse poop out of the dry lot and arena than clean the house. With the mowing, it stays done for WEEKS (since we only do the tall weeds) whereas the house is a mess in 10 minutes. I did not inherit my grandmother's cleaning genes.
Spryte
Depends on what needs to be cleaned, but generally if the choice is mowing - I'll clean. :)
MooCow
Mow definitely. By myself though. Otherwise, the trimmer brings the yard inside with him.
hornblower
I'd rather have someone do both but in a pinch I'd pick mowing because it's a concrete job that has a beginning and end and at the end you can say "look, it's done" The house is a big amorphous blob of chores. There's always something else that could be cleaned, washed, wiped down, dusted....
Donna
Clean house. No one else would clean as well as I would but the boys are good mowers.

SparklyUnicorn
Neither. I've mowed, but it's murderous on my allergies this time of year so that's not fun.
Joyofsixreboot
Mow. Or really anything outside. Today I weeded and used the weed eater and hung laundry while my two youngest cleaned house.

OneStepAtATime
Normal yard, no funky trimming, limited weeding, temps at a reasonable 85 degrees, ? Mow (although my allergies would hate me for it). Large yard, with lots of decorative plants that have to be carefully dealt with, tons of weeds to pull, lots of specialty plants to weave around, temps hovering around 100 degrees? Clean house.
prairiewindmomma
I would rather tidy and vacuum and spot clean the floors than mow/edge/pull weeds. If laundry is behind, dishes are piled high, bedrooms have become Barbie and lego obstacle courses, and I make sticky sounds walking across the floor---I'd rather mow, hands down.
lynn
Funny you bring this up. I told my ds to please unload and load the dishwasher and start his laundry and I headed out to push mow the lawn. It was acutally quite relaxing.. I have not mowed in years, having 3 boys I haven't had to, but for some reason I am choosing mowing and like it. I think it is because I consider it exercise for the day. We have a huge yard and we do having a riding mower but I prefer to push mow.
Ottakee
Normal yard, no funky trimming, limited weeding, temps at a reasonable 85 degrees, ? Yes, horse pastures aren't really fussy. We have 5 acres and between pastures and lawn we mow about 3 of it..........well, what the horses don't neat. Dh does the fussy mowing and trimming around the house. I have ds weed wack around the pasture 2-3 times a year. Mowing in the pasture is easy. It is also relaxing as the phone isn't ringing, kids aren't asking for things, etc.
katilac
Well, it's generally a bazillion degrees here, we have a push mower, and neatness counts, so I'm going to go with cleaning the house. Also, no one calls code enforcement if I skip cleaning the house!

Cottonwood
Mow the lawn, 1000 times over. Love being in the sunshine and despise every second cleaning anything in the house.
MicheleinMN
If by clean the house you mean do dishes and/or laundry, I would rather do those than mow. If by clean the house you mean dust, vacuum, and clean bathrooms or mop anything, then I would rather mow! As always...it depends!
gingersmom
I despise mowing. Especially when it's 90 degrees outside and the sun is shining. Then again I hate it when it's cloudy outside and threatening rain :)

Orthodox6
I prefer being outside, but only in cool/cold weather. Heat (which, for me, means temperatures above 75 deg. F.) renders me miserable. Seasonal allergies, triggered by mowing, also deter me from selecting this. Cleaning is a neutral activity. Neither like nor dislike. Carrie12345
Clean the house. But only because our property is crawling with ticks.
MercyA
I have never, ever mowed a lawn in my life, so I guess I'd have to say clean the house. Me either, but I'd still rather try mowing than clean!
mommaduck
Mow the lawn. It stays that way for awhile and I will have accomplished something.
KungFuPanda
I have friends coming over tonight. All day I 'meant' to clean the house. I just could not stay inside. I gardened all day, and I don't really have gardens that take all day to tend. It was just too beautiful to be inside.

Night Elf
Definitely cleaning house. I do not do yard work of any kind. If something happens to my DH and he is unable to do yard work, I'm hiring a lawn service. No doubt about it.
Night Elf
I'll enjoy reading this thread but I can't participate because I'm very indecisive, especially when both choices are equally bad. Also, I can't come up with a single 'either/or' question of my own.
Annie G
If I had a decent yard, I would choose mow. As it is, the yard has ruts, a steep bank, too many obstacles to mow around... Ds is going away to college next month and dh and I will have to take over our lawn care. I'm quite sad about that.
carriede
I'd do either with a smile if someone would take the kids out from under foot.

AmandaVT
Clean - every time I mow, I end up seeing snakes and they freak me out. So I'd rather stay inside and clean!
Happy
Mow! Mow, garden, pull weeds, plant stuff, water, rearrange rocks...I'd rather do almost any thing outside rather than clean house.

Valley Girl
Mow the lawn. It stays that way for awhile and I will have accomplished something. This. Plus people notice the lawn and will say it looks nice. That doesn't often happen when I clean.
SKL
I would rather clean the house, because then I know that everything is in its place. Anyone can mow a lawn, but when other people "clean," they always do stuff that bugs me, and I have to rearrange etc. afterwards.
datgh
Anything outdoors from mowing to pulling weeds over cleaning any day even if it is drizzling out. I will only stop for lightening and hazy, hot and humid and in the 90's but then I will take the time to rest up until it is cooler and I can get back to it. Cleaning - give me an excuse and I will stop instantly!
Arcadia
I stay in a condo for good reason. I am allergic to shrubs, even those outside the library front door :( I guess it depends on what you define as cleaning the house. Mostly hubby does it. Kitchen is my only territory to clean. Garga
Mowing the lawn: Ticks, fear of Lyme disease, sun burn, non-stop runny nose so need to stop to break out the tissues every 4 minutes, itchy eyes, sweat. Cleaning the house: music, tv on in the kitchen if I want, cool temperature, soft couch for breaks, no physical discomfort. Cleaning the house wins hands-down for me. BlsdMama
If the choice was between napping and mowing I'd still choose mowing. Love to mow! I love that when you're all done, nothing can mess it up for a few days! It stays done! The house? Bwaa ha ha ha!
G5052
Mowing. I hate putting away stuff. Seriously. If I do everything at once, it takes 5-6 hours. Sounds good to me!
