Reefgazer
Any type of facial hair - beard, 'stache, soul patch, etc. But not unintentional, lazy-accidental scruff, LOL. Edited July 5, 2019 by Reefgazer
Laura Corin
It's come and gone over the years, but now I think the full beard and moustache is here to stay. It suits him. He's 62.
Carrie12345
I’m not entirely sure how to answer. Where does intentional scruff come in? Lol. Dh can’t let anything get too long or his mask won’t seal right for firefighting, but he’s usually only truly clean shaven when he has business meetings.
AmandaVT
DH varies between goatee and full mountain man depending on time of year. July tends to be well trimmed goatee time of year.
Loowit
DH started growing a shortly trimmed beard/mustache when he got a job that allowed it, so probably when he was 25 or so. He is now in his mid-40s.
lavender's green
He currently has a small beard, but it comes and goes. He picks at it when he's thinking, so when he's been doing a lot of thinking he needs a full shave.
JustEm
Nope, never has, and I'm glad as I don't like facial hair.
Lawyer&Mom
He grew a beard to go with a Halloween costume one year and I liked it so much he’s not allowed to shave it! I don’t like or dislike beards in general, but a beard really suits his facial structure.
DesertBlossom
No. He's military. Ny dad and brothers have had full beards off and on over the years, before it was trendy to do so.
alisoncooks
Yes, full beard. When we were first a couple, he just had a really long goatee (no 'stache). ETA: The only time he's not had facial hair is when he was going through chemo. His double chin demands facial hair. hippiemamato3
DH has a full beard and has since we got together. He is never, ever allowed to shave.
Guest
Yes; mine has had some type of facial hair for nearly as long as we’ve known each other. (There was one Christmas he shaved clean, but he didn’t keep it.)

Right now he has the mustache and goatee but he just mentioned growing a fuller beard again. I thought it was an odd choice for summer, but it's his face so his choice. He bears a strong resemblance to Santa Clause when his beard is full.
gardenmom5
dh - never 1ds - no, 2ds - wavers between trimmed beard and clean shaven. throat/neck shaved 1ds's same age friend - just shaved off a thick beard he's been sporting since in got his BS. (he was in a musical playing five different characters, he says that's why.)
aaplank
No. My husband's work doesn't allow facial hair. 🙄 Crazy!
Garga
Been married 27 years, he’s had a full beard the entire time. This was taken about 3 weeks ago on our 27th anniversary. He gets a 2:00 shadow. Really, by 2:00, he’s looking very scruffy. It grows very fast. Trying to be clean shaven (he’s tried once or twice) is frustrating to him and not worth all the effort. LMD
No. He had a goatee for a while, but we were teenagers then lol. It suited him. He couldn't have facial hair for his job (sealed mask) so he got used to clean shaven - including the top of his head - and now more than 3 day stubble makes him itchy. Eta, we're both in our 30s. Him later 30s than me! Eta again, his father (60) and brother (30) both vary between short goatee/stash and clean shaven. Liz CA
Goatee for a long time now. I would probably do a double take if he shaved it off.

madteaparty
The full thing. And he’s not great about his haircuts either. katilac
Beard & stache, yes, for many years. Just a few weeks ago, he had to shave to enter a petrochem plant (so the face mask would seal in case of disaster) and our kids nearly died, lol.
Shellydon
No. Thank goodness. I hate facial hair
J-rap
No, although he tries it out for awhile every 5 years or so. I never mind it, either way. I do think a clean short beard is "in" right now, at least on younger men.
LucyStoner
In 22 years, he’s been clean shaven just twice. Both times he made a mistake while shaving and it all came off because leaving part of it would have looked very weird. Melissa in Australia
DH has a moustache. He has had it since he was a teen. one of my younger brothers was so impressed with DH's moustache with it that he grew one as well as a teen and still has it in his 40s most of my 5 brothers have facial hair of some kind as well as one of my sons. Ellie
Mr. Ellie has had a mustache as long as I have known him. In the 70s, it was sort of Fu Manchu-ish 🙂 but when that was out of style, he shaved those side thingies. A couple of times our choir musical was set in the 1800s and many of the men grew beards, and so did Mr. Ellie. He left the beard for awhile because it looked good; he was also in a bagpipe band, so it was especially appropriate. However, he hasn't done that in many, many years now. So, mustache, but cleanly shaven everywhere else. No scruffy half-growth going on here.
kbutton
My DH grows a beard as soon as it gets cold and keeps it for as long as I can stand it. I actually like facial hair, and he looks nice with it, but I need a break once in a while, and I like his face both ways. It seems like it doesn't trim up as evenly or easily after a couple of months, though he keeps it trimmed, and that's another reason he doesn't have it full time. sweet2ndchance
When dh and I first met, he had a well groomed goatee. Since IIH has taken more of his freedom to do things, he often sports a full mountain man beard until it drives him crazy enough to sit still long enough to have me trim it off for him. We tried special dipilatory cream for men's facial hair but he has crazy sensitive skin and it looked (and according to dh felt) like he stuck a hot iron to his face. I can use the exact same cream to help trim up down south on me and it doesn't burn at all, so we know it is just his skin issues and not the product itself. I love when we get the chance to shave him, he has such a baby face to look at and feel lol. But until we get his brain shunt to alleviate the pressure and pain, we both have to put with his beard for now. :-( Edited July 6, 2019 by sweet2ndchance
Jean in Newcastle
Dh, no. (Though I wouldn't mind if he did. It's his face.) Ds has a full beard and has had real facial hair (not peach fuzz) since he was 13.

73349
Clean-shaven since I've known him, and I like it. (Hair in a buzz cut for many years now, which I usually do for him. He likes how low-maintenance it is.) He wears glasses. A man with eyes like his doesn't need anything else to block my view. 🙂
Pen
I’m surprised that 2/3 do. I wonder if it’s higher amongst homeschoolers or if the wording of question drew people whose dh/so does.

mom2scouts
DH had a mustache when we got married, but I never really liked it. He finally shaved it off because he knew I'd never liked it. I'm not a fan of facial hair at all.
Farrar
Bad things happen when dh grows a beard... cars blow up, the weather attacks us, elections are lost... he's not allowed to do it anymore. Also, I am really, really not into facial hair.
RootAnn
I didn't like facial hair on guys until DH grew a 'stache. He has had a full beard, too, but can't for work (face mask seal like others mentions) now. Looove his facial hair. :)
Tree Frog
Dh never had facial hair until about 4 years ago. I really don't like it when he kisses me or we kiss on the lips because the goatee/mustache scratches and irritates my face, especially around my lips. Are there any products around that soften facial hair? If the scratchiness could go away, I would like his goatee better.
rebcoola
No but only because of his job. They have emergency masks that won’t seal with chin hair. Mustaches are ok but that’s not dh’s look. He looks definitely looks thinner more defined with his goatee
