Dh had a bleed in his brain from a lifelong vascular condition. He had a seizure today and I thought I was going to lose him. He is okay right now and his pain is under control. More tests tomorrow. They wake him every hour to make sure he is okay, so no real rest.

He could use prayers!

Thurs 7:30 a.m. cdt

Thank you for all the prayers and kind thoughts!! I got a smile and a chuckle out of him when I told him the Hive was praying for him and sending hugs.

He was able to rest some last night and we are waiting on the neurosurgeon and the results of last night's MRI and MRA. Pray for no surgery, no more seizures and no impairment.

10:15 am

Doctors say he needs surgery. Not sure when. Surgeon will be back late today after Dh has all day to eat, drink, move around, do pt and ot etc.

Continued prayers!

Ah, Scout. Im sorry to hear about the surgery. I was hoping it would resolve on its own.

I'm still praying.

Thanks for the update.  Still keeping your Dh and your family in my prayers.

Hope the surgery goes well.  I'm not sure how to put this...but just because neurosurgeon X was on call when your DH came in, s/he may not be the best surgeon for his condition.  I'd ask the nurses about the surgeon and see which of the neurosurgeons on staff they'd recommend.   (Just curious Nurse...but if it was your DH, would you be comfortable with Dr. X doing the surgery? If not, who'd you go to.)  They know all.   Ideally speak to a surgical nurse, but even the floor nurses should have some clue about who has all of the complications/issues, who doesn't. Then consult with the other doc(s).  Luckily, it sounds like you have the luxury of some time to do this.   Another option, would be to consider a consult at Vandy (assuming you're at UT).

Yes! Thanks for the suggestions.

The doc who will be doing the surgery IS the one the nurses recommend and several of them have worked at Vandy too. He is not the neurosurgeon who saw Dh in the ER and on rounds yesterday morning. He is a specialist in this particular type of vascular neurosurgery. Specialties within specialties within specialties! We do not have Vanderbilt as a possibility because it is out of network and we would pay 100%. Dh works for HCA, so any inpatient care is at Centennial unless there is something they cannot provide.

This afternoon I am spending some time with my kids. :)

Dh got a regular room tonight and he is no longer hooked up to all the monitors. And they might let him sleep more than an hour at a time tonight.

Taking the kids to visit him tomorrow morning.  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Got more details from the surgeon, but still no date. Dh will get to come home Monday, if he doesn't have any new issues over the weekend.

Thanks for your prayers, kind thoughts and hugs!
