  1. Are you talking about the man in Arizona that took fish aquarium cleaner? Because that really shouldn’t factor in at all.
  2. We have an eco-tourism business, which is completely closed down. It is a family run business, so not only do the employees (our 4 sons, dh, and me) not get paid, but there is no income and there are bills to pay. Our sons, 3 still in college, are all home, which is nice, but the grocery bill is crazy. Dh has another business, which is considered essential at this time, with three employees, but revenue is way down and will continue to decline. We can bide our time with the tourism business since the overhead is fairly low, but if the shutdown goes on too long, the effects on our other business could have serious ramifications.
  3. We’re currently in self-quarantine (day 5) due to some international travel by some household members, so we haven’t been out since things closed down here. Our small ecotourism business was closed due to our employees being quarantined until yesterday when all the related businesses and parks were closed down in our county. So, we’re doing our part to stay away from other people, but it’s going to be a long 14 days for some of us.
  4. One couple that was on the ship is from our community and are family friends. He is a doctor, actually. I’ll have to ask them for more details on how things were handled on the ship. It was a very difficult time for them, especially since they aren’t spring chickens.
  5. Hand sanitizer out of stock in most stores here, except the office supply store. Was able to get travel bottles and large refill. Sweet!
  6. I’ve been keeping up with this thread for the most part. My ds24, ds20, and ds19 are scheduled to fly to London on March 10, then to Paris, back to London, and home (Tampa airport) on March 19. (I’m a long time WTM member, but don’t usually sign in anymore because it keeps logging me out.) I am getting concerned as this outbreak is developing, and don’t know what to do with regard to their travel. Technically, they are adults, and they have paid for the trip on their own. They would lose at least some of their money if they had to cancel the trip. I don’t want to overreact. What would you do? They are generally healthy, but the 19 yo has asthma (related to allergies, respiratory illnesses for the most part). He has been taking allergy shots for a full year, which have definitely helped.
  7. The girl just turned 16, and is a sophomore in HS, so her parents don’t let her make the decisions about stuff like that. I wouldn’t say that I judge the mom, I just don’t understand what the thinking was.
  8. On Saturday night two of my college kids went to a friends house. One of the other guests had three family members (dad, mom, brother) down with a serious illness. She got sick Sunday morning. Two of the other guests are now sick. Her mother is a respiratory therapist at a hospital, and her dad is trained as an EMT. My son lives at college with the two guests that are sick now, so I texted her mom to find out more about what they had. She told me they have never been through anything like this before. I can’t imagine why she sent her daughter to this gathering when there were three seriously sick people in her house that she had been exposed to. I will not be happy if my guys get sick.
  9. I have had Hashimoto’s and a thyroid nodule for over 10 years. I go to the endo on an annual basis for blood work and an ultrasound. My endo does the ultrasound herself in the office. It is a great way to keep an eye on it in my opinion, and gives me peace of mind. Best wishes to you!
  10. Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, salad, na’an.
  11. I use canned, and I use Jimmy Dean Italian sausage.
  12. I am so sorry, Dawn. Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.
  13. I haven’t tried that recipe, but I found a different one a year or so ago that is an absolute favorite of everyone that’s tasted it. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/23600/worlds-best-lasagna/
  14. We’ve done this card trick with small and (fairly) large groups. It’s always well received. We use old decks of cards or cheap ones, because you have to tear them in half. It does require people to pay attention! It’s a lot of fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypuxInk_iAg
  15. Christmas Eve: steak au poivre (filets), twice baked potatoes, asparagus, rolls, cheesecake sampler. Christmas morning: eggs Benedict and monkey bread Christmas day: Honey Baked ham and turkey, chips, potato salad, etc. (people can eat whenever they want.)
  16. Idk. It makes me think of the wedding ceremonies that I’ve been a part of, and the officiant saying something along the lines of “in front of God and these witnesses”. Part of that, I believe, is that the bride and groom are entering into a covenant, and those in attendance witness that and, therefore, in a sense, help to hold them accountable to what the promised in their vows. I think it’s a very serious matter. Now, that’s not to say that I think everyone in attendance should stick their oar in at any given moment, but neither do I think that it is completely off limits for certain people to try to help.
  17. I take the Doctor’s Best Magnesium Glycinate. They are big, and I have to crush them. The only way that they don’t taste bad is in applesauce, preferably strawberry applesauce.
  18. We have found VidAngel to be really helpful. It allows you to filter out objectionable content. There are lots of movies that are great except for a few words or scenes, and VidAngel makes those watchable.
  19. Unbelievable. I am sorry that you are having to add stuff like that to an already heavy, heavy burden.
  20. I have gotten some relief from myofascial pain with The Melt Method. It uses a foam roller and balls to help release the fascia.
  21. I have Hashimoto’s/Hypothyroid and take a low dose of Synthroid. That’s it for our family.
  22. We have. For 25 years, and we managed to afford decent coverage. Then came the AFFORDABLE Care Act, and we can’t afford regular insurance at all. We basically have something that would cover something severe or catastrophic.
  23. Rhyder McClure and Sophia Grace. We only had boys, so no Sophia. I do have a gd named Sophie, though! I couldn’t get dh on board with Rhyder.
  24. I disagree with you about the coaching violation. You can clearly see her coach making gestures and then nodding his head, like you would do when the person you are communicating with acknowledges their understanding. Serena also lied and said he was just giving her a thumbs up, which was clearly not the case. I think that she behaved badly, and she brought the game penalty in herself by repeatedly acting badly.
