what's for supper halloween night?

Recommended Posts

Mummies. :tongue_smilie: It was never meant to become a tradition, but it has and dd won't let us have anything else. Mummies are hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls w/ only a tiny slit (face) of the dog showing. Two tiny mustard dots for eyes. I got the idea from Family Fun mag one year when the were little, and we have had them every year since.

did I mention that I hate hot dogs!

Protein. Protein. Protein.

I think I will make up some chili tonight and some corn bread muffins so people can grab dinner when it works for them.

The teens have music practice until 6:30 or so and then are "escorting" the 10yo T-n-Ting. That's just an excuse, of course, to put on costumes and have some fun since they consider themselves too old to go out.

I'll be suffering through an identical supper tonight. And likely every 15th and 31st of October for years to come. It's DS's favorite meal option, so we have it on Halloween and on his birthday.

They're fun... but YUCK!

A big pot of hot soup, probably potato chowder. We don't make a big deal of Halloween, so we'll all settle in for a family movie with the doorbell disconnected and munch on some candy my mom sent over for the kids. My kids dress up pretty much every day of the year, so they aren't missing anything, and we'll go buy candy and costumes on sale later in the week!

Spaghetti and meatballs.

My dad made such wonderful meatballs and marinara for our football party yesterday, and there was far more than enough for the guests. He sent the leftovers home with me, so I'm serving them tonight along with garlic bread and a salad.

We had pumpkin pancakes with apple slice faces this morning already. We will eat more of those for lunch/snack. I have chili in the crockpot going for tonight. I might make some cornbread to go along if I get time. MUST counteract the candy and sugar (of course they have had parties all week, so it is really a weeklong sugar fest going on around here!)

IF dh does not have to work late, he will grill brats... and I'll add in salad and baked beans.

IF dh does work late, I'll stick a djourno pizza and a few frozen burritos in the oven (Yes, I know that's terribly unhealthy). Well, I can still add in salad!

Homemade mac & cheese, broccoli, tomato salad.

I'm hoping the rain stops soon (it's supposed to be over by tonight). This will probably be ds' last year TOT, so I'd hate to see him get rained out. Then again, last year he said it was probably his final year, but decided to go with some friends tonight.

since the kids are to excited to eat, I keep it simple. Pinto beans and cornbread. I got the keeping it simple from my mother. She always had something like grilled cheese sandwiches.

I wanted to make this http://www.yummly.com/image/Spaghetti-Dogs-Recipezaar.m.jpg?imageServer=i2

OMG, that's gross! My dd would love it, but I'm not showing it to her!
