Would you change midwifes?
jennsmile replied to RainbowSprinkles's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I would be prepared to catch my own baby or have my dh catch the little one. It sounds like you are lucky. Very few of us have midwives in hospital settings. It could have been the nurses didn't think you were as far as you were and told her she didn't need to rush. Since she is in a hospital setting she is more like a doctor in her practice. A homebirth midwife would have fewer clients and come out and probably stay till the baby came. But you had another provider check in on you and nurses so there was no reason to get the midwife there till delivery time. -
Posting with grave trepidation

Like somebody else asked are you taking progesterone? I took an OTC one that was natural on my last pregnancy, and will on future pregnancies as well. Maybe it was a placebo effect but it made me feel less scared I would love another little one as my track record and 50/50. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Hang in there. Sticky baby dust. -
:grouphug::grouphug: If it helps would you like my story. I homeschooled in high school. I saw kids from church everyday. (early morning seminary), and my homeschool friends everyday (choir, basketball games, bowling, cheer practice, basketball games.) But I also spent lots of time with my little brother who was closest in age. Point was I was around kids on a daily basis but even then my best friends weren't in either group really. I had other friends that I related to better even though I didn't see them as often. At the end of my day my best friend was my little brother and I wouldn't trade that for the world. I really wouldn't. I am so glad I had that time with him and that we were close. Yes we socialize and make sure my kids have some friends, with scouts, church and play dates, but if at the end of my homeschooling career their best friends are siblings, I will be so happy. Yes it is hard going though it, I remember more than one crying episode, but really looking back I will be forever grateful to my parents for homeschooling in the 90's and giving me time with my brother.

I have concrete stained floors can I weigh in my 2 cents? If you go with the concrete do not put a polyurethane coating on it. You want to wax it. Otherwise you get white streaks from chairs and then strip and wax it never being truly happy with it. We went dark...bad idea, white gravel and a light colored dog makes us have dirty looking floors 95% of the time. Have fund choosing a flooring option. My parents have tile in the living areas and I really like it. Truth be told I long for a carpeted room but with kids and pets won't be having carpet anytime soon.

Minor grammar rant.......Southerners......

Y'all are a hoot. For the record, TN is southern. I moved from St. Louis to Memphis and went into culture shock as a teen. I had to relearn everything. Y'all not, you guys. Miss (first name of adult) Ma'am and Sir Coke not Soda I was called a Yankee. And yes Tennessee chose to fight for the Confederate states in the civil war and as far as some were concerned the civil war was still going strong. Now I am fixin' to go eat some breakfast. -

Blank Poster Size US Maps?
jennsmile replied to CyndiLJ's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Sonlight does have the markable map it folds up to 8 1/2 by 11 when not in use so there is a little bit of a gape between the sheets of just laminating. -
To all you LDS moms with EMS kids...
jennsmile replied to Live2Ride's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Enjoy it, before long she will driving herself there. As for me I have 4 years before it starts. If we are still here we are 30 minutes from the chapel and have the option of doing homestudy seminary. :) -
If CPS comes to your door...
jennsmile replied to Pink Fairy's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Cops were called on us a newlyweds too. Thankfully I answered the door and my husband was right there and they realized it wasn't us but that we had heard our neighbors. They were out walking and the cops instantly recognized them and went to chat with them instead.- 250 replies

If You Live On An Acreage/Rural
jennsmile replied to Impish's topic in General Education Discussion Board
My kids are each others best friends. We also are active in a church and with cubscouts. I worried a little till last year when we went to family camp for a week, my unsocialized kids were no where to be found all week. Seems the are better at making friends than me. -
My first was a miscarriage confirmed by ultrasound. Found out on Friday, by Saturday I was bleeding like a bad period and the baby passed on Sunday. For me it wasn't something that would just happen at work. It started slowly with spotting, then got period like and then it got worse with major cramping. So I guess I am trying to say that it might be best to wait and see how things go. I could be wrong but usually there is lead up time before the actual miscarriage. (I have had two losses where I bled.) A another note I had a friend that was told she was going to miscarry and they decided to wait and see. She just gave birth to her baby girl a couple of weeks ago, the doctors were wrong. While this may be rare it does happen I personally prefer to let nature run it's course whenever I can. D&C's and drugs all have side effects/risks and it is best to make sure she knows what they are before doing either as it can have an affect on her future pregnancies.

So many different cat litters!

I was thinking you meant Litters of cats...LOL! -
Completely with you. Next Monday at 3pm can't get here fast enough! Until then I might be a little crazy packing, cleaning, finishing a sewing job. Currently I am sitting next to a baby that will only sleep with me near him, yes slightly spoiled, but he will grow much to fast and I intend to enjoy my time with him.

Microwave popcorn bowls?
jennsmile replied to athena1277's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I personally just love my old fashioned air popper. It doesn't expose my kids to the microwave. And it works pretty quickly. -
My friend did lots of yogurt. There is a brand with added protein. Also protein shakes. Around here there is also milk with added protein. Good luck.

Church going ladies? Would this bother you?
jennsmile replied to Marie131's topic in General Education Discussion Board
As the mother of a 6 month old there is no way I would put him in nursery during a service, crazy talk. I would be church shopping. I think children should grow up worshiping with the parents so they know what to expect when they get older. Of course we have both, main service with everyone then we break up into classes and there is a children's church program for 18 month up. Go with your gut. -
I feel sad for the kids headed to school. They are sent to be with strangers. It makes me very sad to see little kinder students pictures and know they won't be with their mom/dad. I don't dare post my thoughts on their pages. Last year I made the mistake of telling somebody that it was a choice to send their kid as they were complaining. They didn't like the fact that yes you choose to work as a teacher and send your kids to school. I sacrifice and make the choice to stay home. They don't see it that way. So this year I am not saying a word to a soul on face book. PS We also head to camp around the start of school. Love our family camp. One week away...yea!
