PeacefulChaos
Anyone? My word for 2015 was Live. And I think I followed through on it pretty well. It was kind of like my mantra for the year. So now I've started thinking about 2016, trying out a few words, none really fit yet. I like this much better than any sort of resolutions, because I'm sort of anti-ny-resolutions. I find them to be shallow, usually, and something that people generally don't follow through on. At least I didn't. Not to say that I think badly of other people if they do choose to make resolutions. They're just not my cuppa. So One Word for the Year -- Anyone else usually do this? JessReplanted
Survive. Honestly, I haven't given it much thought. We have had a lot of illness for the last several months though, and it has been rough.
Garga
Can I have two words? Kind words. My entire family has fallen into a rut of trying to one-up each other or point out each other's faults. It's the way my DH's family talks to each other and I've fallen into their bad habit lately, too. And it's really just stupid and disgusting and prideful. And it needs to stop. So...two words: Kind Words. If it has to be one word then just Kind, and I'll know it means in regards to words. Critterfixer
I can't remember last year's word. This year's might be Move. It's time for me to get off my duff and do some things that will improve my life. I need to exercise more (who doesn't make that one every year!) but more importantly, I think it's time to move out of my very introverted existence and go make some friends. I also want to spend more time going places to recharge my creative energies.
abba12
Restore It's been a hard year. My goal for next year is to get back to where I was at the beginning of this one.
DragonFaerie
2015's word was Perseverance, and I think I did persevere. I finished my MA degree and have started teaching, however part time and low-paying the job. But, I also lost my home and had to move in with my mother (quite the challenge in itself). So, I think the word for 2016 is going to be Independence, or maybe Self-reliance. I need to work enough to support myself and my kids and get us back into our own place and stand on my own two feet, whatever that takes.

nd293
So...two words: Kind Words. If it has to be one word then just Kind, and I'll know it means in regards to words. Maybe you need the acronym THINK. This really helped out when there was a patch of 'unkind speech' happening around here: THINK before you speak: Is it True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary, Kind? I need some sort of anti-procrastination word. Something that represents "Do it now" or "Just do it" or "Get it done". Suggestions welcome!

SKL
It would be cool to have a spiritual type word, but I think the best thing for me right now is something practical: "prioritize." Maybe "focus" to go along with that. If I think some more, I might change my mind.
PinkTulip
I'll play. My word will be strength. I want to continue on improving my physical strength and start working on my mental and emotional strength. I know how to do the physical one, but have been really struggling with the other two this year. Oooh, I like strength, and I think I'll adopt it, too. I am about to start my second semester of going back to school for a second, more marketable degree due to a chronic health diagnosis of DH that will leave him unable to work within the next 5 years. Our family has had what seems like more than its fair share of health issues touching 4 out of 6 family members in the last year, and I am feeling determined to be more proactive in dealing with things. I am also determined to strengthen my own health and fitness, because there is so much more riding on me now.

JustEm
Healing. We had a tough year health wise for myself and my 5 year old, both physical and mental issues. In 2016 I'm determined to get a handle on things for both of us. We've started the process already but are still on the wait list for a specialist for dd. With all the issues with myself and dd our family life has changed drastically. I'm ready to enjoy my family daily again instead of feeling I need my space all the time. It has been a tough year

Night Elf
Explore. I've got some mental health issues and one of them is being afraid to try anything new or go anywhere I've never been. Sometimes it's hard just to leave the house and do my regular things. I'd like to push myself and step out of my comfort zone to get out of my house. I want to go on some day hikes and visit some touristy type stuff. One thing I'd really like to do is become a part of a group of people, but I don't have any specific interests that would lead me to find a group of people. I miss being part of a church, but I was too scared to find a new one when we moved 10 years ago and now I don't go because I feel so out of it. Basically I'm afraid of becoming a hermit.

Faithr
The word that popped into my head is self-discipline, but that sounds . . . not inspirational. . . I think maybe the phrase "take charge" might be more of what I have in mind. Instead of letting myself get overwhelmed by everything, I want to cultivate my ability to take things a step at a time and do that step well. I need tho think more about this.
Soror
I LOVE picking words for the year, oddly I've now forgot my word for this year(despite being entirely into it), it has been a very busy fall! I'm not certain where I want to focus though- 2014 was the year of health- and it was good in that I did get a diagnosis and on the path the healing but this year I've come to realize that this will likely be the work of my lifetime. I had thought I would get healed and be able to move on as before and that just isn't the case so mentally I've been working on changing my expectations. I need/want/hope to find a way to live out some dreams I have without compromising my health. So perhaps it will be- focus- focus on my goals or slow (and steady) or patience- as soon as I felt better I wanted to jump back into everything and I tried to do it too quickly- slow down and enjoy the kids more- keep my life slower- Stop and smell the roses!- do fewer things well maybe Believe- keeping the hope and faith that I will get there and keep on the path to get there and not get discouraged persevere- keep working on it even when it seems hopeless

JessReplanted
relationships I very recently lost a dear friend. I tend to be task oriented. I loved this friend dearly but with some new things on my plate I missed her last two calls and now she is gone :crying: I can't fulfill any list that will gain me those calls again. I can't buy them back, all I have is her voice messages .... it is too late. So this year I want to focus on relationships more than tasks. I'm so sorry. :grouphug:

Butter
Healthy I'm determined to get us healthy next year. This year we've been treading water health-wise. In January Ani was diagnosed with Celiac after several years of unexplained problems. I was diagnosed in April after more than a couple decades of unexplained (but yet Celiac textbook) problems. My youngest was diagnosed in October. I got the flu and bronchitis in September and the first week of October coughed so hard my uterus prolapsed. I was laid up until surgery the end of November. I'll be at 6 weeks and should be released to full activity the first week of January. I had a hysterectomy, anterior and posterior repairs, fallopian tubes removed, and vaginal suspension. Starting in October my daughter got one cold after another and ultimately ended up with pleurisy of all things last month right around when I had surgery. She's finally recovered. We're ending the year with a bang. My middle son suddenly started coughing Friday evening. I took him to the doctor this morning since he was just getting worse. He's got croup and a sinus infection. He's finally grown to the point he doesn't need an ER trip or steroid shot for croup anymore, but he's still pretty miserable. So after the year we've had, next year I just want to be healthy.

ILiveInFlipFlops
I've never done this before, but I keep hearing about it, and it got me thinking. Mine occurred to me immediately: Health. I keep gaining weight; my kidney stones have ramped up; I think I'm having trouble with my blood sugar; while I beat back my panic attack problem, my anxiety level is still untenably high... We all need to lose weight and eat better. So 2016 will be about our whole family's health.
