Adrian has been in the hospital many times since my last update.........

Recommended Posts

For a concussion (he falls a lot now), and acute episodes of encephalopathy. He's there now.

I need to research adult daycare and assisted living options. He's not safe alone anymore.

Remember the specialist appointment I scheduled in February for May? That appointment was this week. The liver specialist basically told me that I needed to keep him alive long enough to get *worse* so he could be put on the list for a transplant.

Worse? He operates at a level I used to take him to the hospital for.

I don't think he's going to make it to and through "worse" in order to get a transplant. He also spent a few days under stabilization care for suicidal ideation/plans.

Oh, Joanne. I'm so very sorry. I will be praying that you will see many miracles in the next few days and in the months to come.

May I pray for you? If not, just close this, OK? :grouphug:

Father in heaven, we ask you to preserve Adrian's life, and to walk alongside him and Joanne through this time. Bless them with healing and with provision of a new liver for Adrian.

Give Joanne peace and comfort.

Amen.

I'm so sorry, Joanne. I wish you didn't have to make such tough decisions, because these are the kind of things that make you feel terrible, no matter what you do. :grouphug:

And FWIW, I don't understand why the doctors wouldn't have put Adrian on the transplant list long ago. It just doesn't make sense. :(

:grouphug: To you.

You've been through so much and have been so strong, this truly does not seem fair at all. I've lived only some of the stresses you've been through and am exhausted at times. I can only imagine what you are going through now.

Know that you are strong and that people care! I hope he can get a transplant soon. I'm a nurse that's taken care of many liver pts and can't even imagine what "worse" would be!

Since it is the doctor who refers the patient to the liver transplant list, does this mean the specialist you're dealing with does not feel he is bad enough to qualify? Did he specify what he meant by "worse?" The lists are long enough without waiting to get worse!
