Could I get some prayers? Update #60

I've been sick since the week before Christmas.  I'm on my 3rd progressively stronger antibiotic.  My throat and tongue keep swelling up and I'm on medication just to keep the swelling under enough control so that I can breathe.  I'm under a specialist's care.  But it is getting worse.  My blood pressure has suddenly sky-rocketed this weekend.  I've gone back on some blood pressure medicine that I have and it is not controlling it.  My dh (RN) has left to go out for errands and I am extremely dizzy and am feeling very very poorly.  I just took my bp and it is in the danger range.  Anyway - prayers would be appreciated.  I have a doctor's appointment already set for tomorrow but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to hold off until then.

I just saw this thread, Jean -- I'm so sorry you're still feeling so awful! I hope the doctor is of some help to you.

Have you ever considered going someplace like the Mayo Clinic to see if they can get to the bottom of your health issues? The way it worked for my dh was that they scheduled him for what amounted to a whirlwind week of appointments and tests, and they are like a well-oiled machine. You get a printed schedule with all of your instructions and you end up with a whole team of doctors who work together to diagnose and treat you. They leave no stone unturned until they know what's going on.

I know it can be an expensive trip, but it might be worth it for you. It doesn't seem like your current doctors are doing enough to help you.

Update: Nothing really has changed. Dh felt that I was ok staying home. I'm going to the doctor in the morning. My bp is still bad but is a little bit less bad than it was earlier. I still feel like crap. I'm going to bed.

Please let us know how it goes tomorrow at the doctor! :grouphug:

Hope you get some rest and the bp will drop. Praying. Keep us updated after your appointment!

Sounds like it may be worth a shot. Do they take Jean's insurance?  :) Honestly, I would not mind making payments if it means I am feeling better. Think about it, Jean.

Hope you can get some solid sleep tonight, Jean.  So incredibly sorry that you are going through this.

Could this be a viable option?  I know changing doctors and going to an entirely different set of people quite literally saved my life just a few years ago.  It saved my great uncle's life years ago, too.  And I have 2 friends that were in dire straights that got second opinions and their health issues turned around significantly, in a pretty short period of time.

Liz and Catwoman - you'll be happy to know that dh is coming to the doctor with me tomorrow.

I think we are all happy to hear that, Jean.  Hoping you get answers and some relief.  Best wishes to you and your family.
