marbel
Indian corn is nasty. Candy corn is much better. But it has to be Brach's brand.

PrairieSong
I know what candy corn is, but what is Indian corn? My MIL used to out candy corn and peanuts into a little ceramic pumpkin in the fall. If you eat them together, they taste like a Payday candy bar. Miss Tick
But, were any cocoa beans hanged in the making if it? If it isn't real chocolate, I'm not interested. Don't get me started on "white" chocolate. I'd rather have a vegetable.
Reefgazer
You eat fall decorations?!?!?? Or am I misunderstanding the question?

I wouldn't think of it as "real" chocolate, though.
Farrar
Mildly worse. Vastly inferior chocolate is sometimes worse than no chocolate.

I have fond memories of Payday bars. Candy corn was my Mom's favorite candy after hard black licorice. :001_wub:
displace
I'm revising my vote. Indian corn is better. I don't notice a taste difference but it definitely seems a better texture and I like the colors better :)

Amira
I've never had Indian corn, but since candy corn is truly nasty, I can't imagine that even chocolate could save it.

I wouldn't think of it as "real" chocolate, though. Ok. Beans are harmed, but it still tastes more like a fudgecicle than good chocolate, so I have to stick with my original "worse" vote. Sorry to hear we are on opposite sides if this seasonally important discussion. Not saying I would turn it down, mind you, just that if there were a bowl of each on the table, well... Tap
Not better or worse...just different. We usually get a small bag of both each year. I don't buy the mixed bags because they all tend to taste the same after cohabitating for so long. LOL

Jaybee
Never had Indian corn. But a piece of candy corn paired with a pecan half use to be pretty yummy. I say 'use to' because I don't think I could tolerate the sweetness these days. :P
umsami
Other…they are both good. They're candy! I agree Brach's is the best. Our favorite thing to do with candy corn is to make "melted snowmen" hot chocolate. Normal hot chocolate (we do Nesquick + milk)….then a layer of whipped cream on top. Now add in mini chocolate chips for eyes and mouth and a candy corn for the nose. Yummy and fun!

Garga
Candy corn was my all time favorite candy growing up and it's still in the top 5 for me. Indian corn RUINS a good candy corn. Just RUINS it. Brachs is the ONLY candy corn worth eating. The others are bad knockoffs.
Orthodox6
I voted "other" because although I know what candy corn is, I have not the foggiest idea what you are comparing it against! Anyway, I will not swallow corn syrup of my own volition.

KrissiK
Indian corn? And that would be.......? I've never heard of it. I do like candy corn. Not as much as malted milk eggs. Easter, IMHO, tops Halloween in terms of quality of candy!
Susan in TN
I've never heard of Indian corn. Candy corn is ok, maybe one a year, and only if it's nibbled one color at a time.

Tanaqui
I thought "lolly" meant a hard candy...? They're soft, very soft. This post made me google "dye free candy corn", and do you know, the very first result was from this forum? Sheesh. Then this post made me look up Candy Professor's article on candy corn, which she posted over at The Atlantic.Which answers the question a lot of you are having: the only connection to corn is that it looks a little like corn (sorta, if you squint) and was really popular back in the days when people thought of corn as animal feed. blondeviolin
Gonna go with gross either way. My husband says candy corn is infinitely better. He says the chocolate bottom ones are worse chocolate than tootsie rolls. He does like the little orange pumpkins.
carriede
I voted other. They each have their place. I find candy corn more traditional. But sometimes chocolate trumps all. DH prefers the marshmallow pumpkins.
flyingiguana
They're chocolate? I had no idea. I thought they were just colored differently. With a slightly weirder taste. I don't care for either of them. But I won't judge others.

freeindeed
I love both; but since I eat low carb/no sugar, I don't eat them. I voted other. I wonder if they make sugar free...if so, they're probably loaded with sugar alcohols which bring their own set of...ummm....consequences. ;) :leaving:
