Have you ever won anything??

I win lots of stuff! Friends and family get really annoyed because it seems I'm always winning - no matter how stupid or little a win, I win it.

Last week I won a blu-ray player and DS from one of those grabber games at the arcade.  Four tries, two wins.  Earlier this month I won a thousand dollars at the casino; I only ever bring $50, whether it takes me five minutes or five hours to go through. My mom always gifts us scratch-off tickets for our birthday, however old we're turning is how many tickets she buys us. My brother and I have birthdays the same week - Mom has done this since we've each turned 21, and in the 15 years since we've both gotten tickets he has never one. I always win at least $2. :) I've won the last three scout raffles, and my friend (scoutmaster) used that to beef up sales - he told the other parents they had to dilute the pool to keep me from winning again. LOL We'll find out this weekend if that strategy worked. ;)

yup.  a week ago I won a copy of despicable me 2 at a draw when we went to watch the movie (free family movie night).  I have won money, books and food prizes off the radio when we lived in the city.  When ds15 was 5 I won him a shot at mutton busting in the rodeo (radio prize again, I had to bah like a sheep while he rode my back-on the air).  I have won a complete book set of HWOT materials (preK to cando cursive) when I attended the training and a gift basket at a home school conference.  gift certificates and gift baskets at various conventions/conferences/presentations I go to.  I don't win huge prizes and certainly not all the time, but I have won an aweful lot.  THe year I won the cash on the radio it was one of those contests where they announce your name from their "friends" list and you have 15 minutes to call in and choose one of the "boxes" and you get the prize in that box.  A friend heard my name and called me to tell me.  I called in and ended up winning $750, At the time I was in major risk to being evicted for not paying rent(here if you miss 1 payment you get your notice, there is no dragging it on).  That money covered the rent, the power bill etc.  The timing couldn't have been better.  Twice I also got chosen for special panels, so not really winning a prize and yet also still by random chance, one was a focus group for new tv shows and I got $50 to attend that for a couple hours, the other was for a new way of farming to protect wildlife and wild habitats and I got $200 for that one.  I consider them pretty close to being contests since not everyone gets chosen to participate.

I know a single homeschooling mom that entered a mall draw during back to school time and they won a trip for 4 to disneyland, there is no way they could have gone without having won, they had a great time.

Now if only I could win the lottery :P

I won $1 playing Mega millions this week  .  Not as exciting as the 600 million, but at least I didn't lose by playing!

I won tickets to go see Weezer a few years ago.  I was super stoked about that.  It was an early morning text to win thing on the radio, and I was just getting home from running something to church.  It was Sunday morning, the day after Halloween.  So I spent 5 min or so texting, and then gave up.  5 min later, the dj at the radio station texts me back with, "Don't give up, you were the only one trying!"  So I sat there and texted the 100 times or whatever I was supposed to do, and I won the tickets.  Dh and I made an anniversary trip out of it and had so much fun.

I won't say I've never won anything, but not much.  However my family is a lot more lucky.

The kids are always winning things from our library - they won tickets to Cirque du Soleil, a Kindle Fire, and have twice won a monetary prize in an essay contest.  The library is crazy good to my kids.

And dh won $32K on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire back when it was really popular.

I've won a few small giftcards before $5 to $25 range, a bamboo cutting board, and some silly tool for cleaning your face doing random drawings.  As a senior in high school I won $1000 at graduation for an essay contest I was chosen to participate in.  There were only 2 other people I was competing against and they were too lazy to write anything good.

That is so cool to be on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire!!

I should do another thread to see who has been on TV!

As a kid I won a rickshaw at my dad's fishing club annual bash - he made me trade it in for a fishing pole.

About a decade ago I won the last two seats under the shelter for a Beethoven concert at Ravinia from the Chicago Tribune.

A couple years ago I won a very expensive espresso maker and a coffee grinder from Pioneer Woman - back when she had only a couple thousand folks reading her blog.

Ironically, the only blog giveaway I ever won had as the prize a copy of the third edition of The Well Trained Mind...

My father-in-law wins everything though. His most recent win was a new Kindle Fire. He has won baskets of party supplies, Halloween decorations, and a bible study/devotional package in the last year.

(emphasis mine) I like the way you phrased that.

I don't think I have won anything. My mom just won a CD of a movie soundtrack when she attended the premiere. Good thing she liked the music more than the movie.

Not often.  Of course I don't often enter contests or raffles because I figure I never win anyway so maybe it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. :D

I did once win one of those ceramic Christmas trees at a senior's function that I went to with my Grandma when I was around 10 or so.  You know - the kind where you put a light bulb in the base and then you put little coloured plastic "light bulbs" or decorations in all the little holes in the tree so the light shines through them?  Yeah - one of those. :D

I also won a set of 3 large, standing-type decorative finials in pink, yellow, and mint green from Country Sampler magazine once.  Except they're kind of ugly and don't really go with the colours in my house.  Plus I had to pay shipping costs to Canada so I think I ended up paying about 50 bucks for them in shipping.  They're in my basement in a box.  On the plus side, they're quite heavy and could come in handy someday as a weapon to clock someone with. :)

I won a free nail trim for my dog. I've never had a dog, but it was still nice to hear my number called at the raffle.

And I just remembered the free hamburger coupon I got because our minor league hockey team scored more than 5 goals in a single game. I never did redeem it, but it had a place of honor on my corkboard until I noticed that it had expired six months earlier and I recycled it.

You all know my daughter won a flat-screen television in a raffle at the plasma place.

Back in 1994 I won a trip to the super bowl in Atlanta, Georgia.  I didn't actually go to the game because they gave our more trips than they had tickets for.  I was compensated for the price of the tickets.  It was just Dallas vs Buffalo anyway and everyone knew Dallas was going to win (they did).  We watched the game from a sports bar, but hey, I got to fly to Atlanta and we went sight seeing while we were there.  It was very enjoyable.

:tongue_smilie: Now I feel silly.  It was interesting because the night before he was on, random people called our home to wish him luck because they used to announce who would be the next night's contestants.  And I got to meet Regis, who was clearly a bit disgusted when dh was like, "I just won my whole year's salary!"

We won a 32 gig iPad in a raffle back when they were first released and in short supply. Actually I'm using that iPad to post.

The weird thing is we didn't even know we were in the raffle. It was part of a huge fundraiser at our local little league and there were thousands upon thousands of tickets sold. What we did not know is that everyone got 1 (one) ticket with the baseball registration.

It was definitely a Charlie Bucket (Willy Wonka) moment for my son (and I) when we found out we won. We could not believe it.

Why would Regis be disgusted?  It wasn't like Regis personally had to pay your dh.  Maybe that's why he left (or asked to leave) the hosting job and Merideth V. took over.  She seemed very nice to the contestants.

Me?  I don't remember winning anything.  My dd and I like to watch Jeopardy and I'm lucky to even get 10 answers correct!

He was nice, but he gave dh a look that was clearly like, that is so pathetic.  Sort of a disconnected rich person thing.  He left when the show wasn't as big anymore.  More being superior. ;)

I've won a lot of things over the years. When I was a kid I won 3-4 coloring contests. One of the prizes was a brand new banana seat bike. As an adult I've won a homeschool nature curriculum (that I never used, lol), a gas card, gift basket, Amazon gift card, and...can't think of anything else right now, but there have been other things. I love winning things!

When the new Star Wars movies came out (Phantom Menace, etc) my niece won a life-sized Yoda from Blockbuster.  I mention it because she had no where to put it and we bought it from her. :)  He is awesome and in our basement right now.
