Need Prayer for DS ASAP

Recommended Posts

My son is now at the hospital with daddy. He went in yesterday for x ray, ultrasound and blood-work.

Since he is profoundly handicapped, he has a lot of problems with his bowels, but we are usually able to take care of it weekly on our own. This past weekend, we had a lot of trouble, and took him to ER yesterday. They found a HUGE blockage.

Right now he is at a specialists office adjoining the hospital where they are determining the best course of action to extract the blockage. No matter the course, it will be very uncomfortable and disturbing to him. He cannot understand what we are saying to him and most times they treat him as a "non person". His pediatrician has pleaded for sedation on our behalf which is something that they don't usually do.

Please pray for his comfort and peace and that he will not go through much pain through the process. Also pray that it will go quickly without any complications. Depending on where the mass is and the size, there can be some complications.

His name is Cameron. He is 14, but mentally, he is only about 1.

Thank you in advance.

I'm so sorry for you, and will pray for your son, your family, and the doctors. My little brother (37) is about like an 18-month old, and I know how stressful ANY medical issues can be because of the communication difficulties and how insensitive medical folks can be, so will pray particularly about that.

Please keep us posted on how things are going for you all.

Thank you, everyone, that has prayed.

Dh brought Cameron home. The doctor actually opted to try non-invasive. (A first!). He gave us three things to use. If we don't have success by this evening, we are to bring him back in for invasive treatment.

I am so thankful for all of your prayers for God has answered.

Even through all of this, Cameron is still my happy little guy. ;)

Please continue praying for his relief.

I'm praying that the treatment works for him. It's so hard to see any of your kids in pain, but especially these special guys. Let us know how he makes out.

My aunt is just six years older than me. We grew up together, together every day because our mothers had a business together. My aunt is brain damaged from a surgery three years ago and functions similarly to an elderly person with Alzheimer's. She has no short term memory to speak of.

My aunt had a massive blockage, and yes, there were some difficulties dealing with the hospital staff. It was difficult to help them understand how to relate to her, as well as other hardships. Her lack of memory made it very difficult for her to understand ANY of what was happening to her. It was just an unending nightmare for her, poor thing.

I will definitely pray for your child, as well as you and your dh. I also pray that the staff is able to be kind and compassionate to your ds.:grouphug:

Many, many thanks to all of you wonderful prayer warriers!

God has listened and answered faithfully.

Cameron had a rough day/evening, but he did it on his own with the prescriptions that the doctor gave us and we did not have to go back for invasive treatment.

Cameron is my happy little camper again today. :D

We kept him home from school for a recouperation day. It turns out that not only was it due to his lack of muscle tone and inability to walk. But that little stinker was "holding back". We had no idea. Even with all the "aids" that we were using, he was still "holding back". He is one determined little fellow.

Some day, when I have the time, I will write his story. His is one of a true miracle. We took him home from the hospital at six weeks after having them disconnect all life-saving equipment so that he could pass-away in peace. After a prayer (from two very unsure agnostics) to a savior allowing him to have his child back, Cameron started to improve slowly.

He is now 14. There is much, much more. But that is the gist of it and we are now Christians all of our children have given their lives to the Lord except for the youngest who doesn't grasp it yet.

Thank you again for your prayers. We are so blessed by them.

Oh, Candace.

Your story makes me praise our great, gracious, merciful Lord this morning.

I probably won't say this right - but if anyone is ever tempted to say that a person would be better off "not around" - how can they know? Truly? We are watching the wife of a dear, godly, loving elder die a painfully slow death from a brain tumor - and his tenderness and faithfulness are an example to us all.

I could say this better in person, truly. But your story has touched me and I just want to thank you for sharing.:grouphug:

Candace, I have been praying for your son, and reading his story has me in tears. I do hope you do write in one day, when you have all that "free time" that is waiting for you, somewhere. I'm sure his story, and the dedication you and the rest of his family has shown him, would be an inspiration to all who read it.

God bless all of you.
