VeganCupcake
There is a Birthing Multiples Naturally group on FB--"naturally" meaning vaginally, in the case of the group, but also family-centered C sections are discussed. It is a really supportive and helpful group. I also really like Naturally Parenting Twins 2.0 on FB--they also discuss birth and stuff. One of the moms who created it is a triplet mom and her unmedicated vaginal birth is on YouTube. It gave me a boost of confidence for my twin birth! Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nTGrun0hsI
matrips
Congratulations! Triplets here. They are 9yo now, but I remember well that first ultrasound and the three heartbeats. Two identical and one fraternal. I laughed for a week straight. Slightly hysterical I guess :) I was able to work up until the week before, office work, no bed rest. Kids were born at 33w2d and all went home a few days after me, even though my littlest was only 2lbs 13oz at birth. Both my identicals were small; their fraternal sister was almost 5lbs. Sounds like you are doing well so far, already at 17 weeks. Keep eating :). And drinking your water. My dear dh had one meal he was capable of making, so I lived on steak dinners, with mashed potatoes, green beans and a chocolate milk shake. Good thing I loved it! Wishing you the best! Any questions, please ask.

1GirlTwinBoys
How exciting! I had twins when my DD was 13 months old and remember thinking triplets would be easier. I was so tired and when I would get my boys to nap, she would want to play blocks or read books...All I wanted to do was lay down and rest but couldn't. Northwoodsmama
Triplets here too- they just turned 7! They were my first (and only pregnancy) so I've never known anything else- but you will do fine. I don't post much but lurk often- I will be glad to answer any questions you might have. Enjoy your pregnancy!

lailasmum
One of my closest friends has triplets, they're ten now. They were very tiny when they were born about 2lb. I know she's always had lots of connections with other multiple birth families and they pass things on, prams, equipment, perspective on life and that's been useful. I think she found out at her 20 week scan as they didn't do early scans here routinely then, I suspect she kind of knew before then though. NicAnn
Update--- The babies are healthy!!! Each have their own placentas, so I'm really encouraged by that. The US tech confirms that 2 of them are boys, and says she's about 80% sure Baby C is too. He is very small, smaller than the others. But there are no indicators to suspect anything is wrong with him. I have to go back in next week for another US with a specialty doc that does something more I depth with genetics, but it's a precaution only. Gah! Craziness!! sassenach
Thanks for all the replies! Some of you offered advice, and I'm going to go back and Reread it all. So thank you! Backstory- I'm actually 17 weeks. I didn't see the midwife for the first time until 13 weeks because we were traveling, this is my 3rd baby and I have a lot of experience as a student midwife, etc. So yeah...I didn't find out til now. I feel like an idiot to be honest! We go in for an in depth ultrasound tomorrow. I'm not very big so they want to check on baby size. Yes this definilty risks me out of home birth, but there is a good chance I can still go naturally. We shall see! DHs reaction was less than stellar. I'm sure he will be embarrassed about it, to be honest. However I know he was looking at multiples blogs last night, so at least he's not bailing! All I can think is that I'm so glad I graduated grad school before finding this out. This makes me giggle a little. My BF's husband broke a broom in half when he learned that she was pregnant with their 5th. He came around (and we all knew he would). He's an awesome dad, and I'm sure your dh is, too. Congrats! OneStepAtATime
Awesome update!!! :) Congratulations! By the way, with reference to your hubby's reaction, I have a friend who was told she could not have kids. She and her husband were married for many years without kids. Then she found out she was pregnant with twins. She and her husband were heavy into their careers at that point so it was an adjustment having twins. They had a grandmother taking care of the twins while they went to work. 4 months into parenting twin babies, when hubby was changing diapers and getting the babies packed up to take to grandma's, she came in to tell him she was pretty certain she was pregnant again. He fainted. And hit his head on the changing table. It was not a pleasant morning. :) Doing great now, though. Kids are all in early teens now and the family is thriving. :)

Lady Florida.
Triplets here. They are 9yo now, but I remember well that first ultrasound and the three heartbeats. Two identical and one fraternal. I laughed for a week straight. Slightly hysterical I guess :) I imagine that's all you can do when receiving such news. Well, of course you need to start preparing, but at first I think laughing (hysterically or otherwise) was probably the best possible reaction. I'm pretty sure that's how I would react. Update--- The babies are healthy!!! Each have their own placentas, so I'm really encouraged by that. The US tech confirms that 2 of them are boys, and says she's about 80% sure Baby C is too. Remudamom
Congrats. Now get yourself into a specialist who can give you the best chance of delivering all three. I was 36 with a 6 yr old and an 18 month old when ours were born. My dad's an OB so I got bossed around a lot! Almost 3.5 months in the hospital waiting, labor started and stopped at least four times (with the first time at four months). Don't take any chances. If I had not been using one of those labor belt things (sorry, can't remember what they are called) I would have lost all three. Born six weeks early all about 4 lbs. They turned twenty this summer. NicAnn
Since this got bumped to the main page, I'll update. Not much different here. Baby C is definitely a boy. I'm feeling mostly fine, though I'm not happy with the uncertainty of when they are coming! I also have to quit my job next week. I work with kids with behavior problems, and we often get kicked or smacked, so just for safety I'm leaving. But other than that, no big changes here, lol. Thanks again for all the replies and well wishes!

Heather in OK
Obviously I missed this back when you first posted it. So an honest question since I've never had a client with twins (suspected it once in a mama with fundal height measuring quite a bit ahead at 17w), let alone triplets. How was your midwife able to catch three separate FHT?? :) I know how the FHT can resonate across the uterus and it's possible to think you're hearing two. So I can't imagine how you would know that you are hearing three!
