athomeontheprairie
Well, it's Tuesday. The short answer is: everything "looks" fine. Except it isn't. They aren't sure what is causing the problem. But there is a problem. On the plus side, it isn't cancer (which was the original thought) On the down side, they have no idea.

athomeontheprairie
Another update in case anyone is interested. After his tests came back fine, his lab work came back. On the 9th (friday), we got a call asking him to be at the hospital first thing Monday morning for a complete sonogram. Results came in Wednesday. Nothing was found (but the problem is persistent). They ordered an MRI on the 16th (yesterday, Friday). Results won't be in until next week. I haven't gone to any of these, and he hasn't seen his regular doctor yet. I don't know what was in the lab results that is prompting them to keep testingi, we've been with them a long time and have NEVER had anything like this. I talked to dh yesterday and mentioned a diagnosis his mom has. It isn't necessarily hereditary but it's presence makes him predisposed to similar badness. I don't think the dr's know about it. Gah. This whole thing worries me.
chiguirre
don't think the dr's know about it. Gah. This whole thing worries me. I think you should make sure he mentions his mom's dx. I'd be inclined to go with him to his next doctor's appointment and force the issue if he's reluctant. :grouphug:
Word Nerd
I'm sorry. It's so frustrating not to know anything yet. I hope the MRI gives them more clarity and answers. Can you go with DH when he has his followup appointment(s)? I went with DH when he was asked to come in to discuss test results and was diagnosed with diabetes, and I took notes while they talked. There were a couple of things the doctor said that I was glad I had written down, as DH hadn't caught everything as he was processing all the information. This whole thing worries me. Good news. but oh how frustrating! Does the original doctor who started this process have email option for patients? I would ask DH (or help DH) write an email asking for information regarding what is prompting all of this looking. There has to be something significant that they are looking for, to be going to such extreme steps. I would have never authorized the procedures, if I didn't know what they are looking for, or at least what was sending up such big red flags! Best of luck to him. I hope it all ends up to be no big deal and if it is something more heinous, then it is treatable. :grouphug: Edited June 17, 2017 by Tap

Beth S
We live in a small-ish town as well. The Next Step for most complex/unknown symptoms here is to head to the Big City, where specialists see a lot more of the unusual-to-diagnose cases. It's Worth The Drive. For us, a 2 hour drive takes you to some of the world's best docs. Yes, it's a pain for all the followup, but they are accustomed to delegating what they can to local doctors.
