JudoMom
I've been curious about this for awhile, and there have been a couple of threads today that reminded me I wanted to ask. On average, how many days a week would you say you are in physical pain? I've always thought everyone hurt, but I'm thinking I might be wrong :001_huh:. If you are in pain, do you know the cause? ETA: I'm in pain everyday (autoimmune hepatitis, and I'm being monitored for lupus and Sjogren's). Dh isn't a good reference, either, because he has arthritis in his back. Jennifer in MI
I said 0. But, if I work out hard one day, I feel it the next. But, I didn't think that was the type of pain you meant. MamaSheep
It depends on the week and the weather. Some weeks it's all day every day. Other weeks I'm pain free.

Celia
I voted 4. I sort of know the cause. I get a lot of headaches, and it's because my posture and body alignment is out of whack. If I go the the chiropractor 2-3 times per week, then it gets better. But I can't afford to do that.

Annie Laurie
I have bad monthlies and frequent headaches/occasional migraines. Mommyfaithe
I am in pain all the time due to Hashimoto's auto immune Fibromyalgia ( related to the hashi's) Lyme Disease ( post Lyme ) I seem to be moving into some remission after an 18 month flare- up. I am praying I continue to get better and not back into a flare...my life is stressful. :tongue_smilie: Faithe
LidiyaDawn
All of them lately. I've had joint pain (knees and feet) since a bit after giving birth back in the spring.. I have no idea WHY, but it seems to just be a part of me now. I feel like a little old lady with arthritis or something… I'm not even 35 yet, yeesh. They hurt when I get up in the morning and anytime that I've sat for a while. Grrr.
lmrich
My foot hurts every day. The worst of it causes me headaches and stomach pain. Parrothead
I have some pain most every day but it is not continuous pain. It could range from a few moments after rising to all day. All day is rare.
Meriwether
I voted 3, but it is usually 3-5. I have slight scoliosis. I get headaches from it regularly and sometimes really bad pain in my back and shoulders. If I am doing extra cooking and cleaning for company, I usually have a hard time walking the next day. It makes my mom sad, but the pain is managable most of the time, and I consider myself to be exceptionally blessed in most areas of my life. Splinter
Every day, to some degree, due to a spinal cord injury. Two or three days a month, I'm stuck in bed with the pain. Besides that, I get up and get on with it.

Lady Florida.
I have chronic back pain due to disc problems, and it hurts all day every day. It has been like this for 14 years. Jean in Newcastle
It depends on what you call pain. I have some background pain (sort of like white noise) all the time. I have bad pain only when I'm in a flare. Sometimes like today I had burning pain in my muscles while sleeping but about 1/2 after I really wok up it is gone. I don't tend to "count" the background pain and don't even notice it much anymore unless someone like a doctor asks me and I have to stop and do a self check. I had one therapist who was working on me tell me that sometimes with chronic pain your nerves will just stop sending the pain signal. dirty ethel rackham
4 or 5 days a week. I have osteo-arthritis pain, chronic injuries that just don't heal (knees, ankle, back.) Plus, in the winter, I have body aches due to SAD. When my thyroid levels are off, I have muscle and joint pain as well.
RebeccaS
I voted 7, but the degree of pain varies. I fractured my spine, when I was in my early 20's, while I was sledding. Some days are tolerable, others are horrible. If I could go back and do over any day in my life, it would be that day. :(
sbgrace
I have nerve pain to some degree 6-7 days a week. When I really take care of myself I have less bad days and far fewer really horrible days. I've got a metabolic condition responsible for my pain. I've not been good about self care lately and I'm paying for it now.
nowimscrappin
I have some kind of pain 3-4 days a week - that's average because some weeks it might be 7 days and others just 1. I used to have headaches of some sort so often that I really thought having some kind of pain was normal. I have tried to explain to hubby that he just doesn't understand whats is like to live with a constant dull pain of some sort all the time. Its not unusual to go through a phase where I wake up with a headache every day for 2 weeks. I woke up today feeling pretty ok after a couple of days of feeling really crappy all day, so today is probably not a good day to answer - I woke up feeling better than I had in probably a week or so. LaxMom
I did have pain 7 days a week before I got my thyroid under control and got off gluten. Now, I only ever have the self-inflicted kind, after a hard workout or that one time I went on a gluten binge. Then, I had burning pain in pretty much every joint in my body. I also had pain in my hands and feet/legs when I had little ones. It was pure sleep deprivation. But, man! It felt like I had slept with my body bound. I'm sorry so many of you are living with chronic pain. :( those periods of my life sucked.

BigMamaBird
I voted 3. I'm pregnant right now so that is a contributing factor. Hedgehog
Fibromyalgia. I voted 6, because I reckon that on average I get one day's break a week. IsabelC
Depends on what you call pain. I have mild twinges of back pain most days, moderate back pain some days. I have an old injury that hurts when the weather changes. I might have a headache if I haven't had enough sleep, or a cold or whatever. But more often than not I don't have any pain strong enough to impede normal functioning (except for period week when I'm pretty much incapacitated for a few days). Very fortunate compared to many of you :(
Tap
Up until 2 years ago, I was only in pain if there was an immediate issue and then it resolved. For the past 1.5 years, I have chronic pain. I have 2 blown disks in my back. I also have an autoimmune issue that is deciding to show its ugly head now too. I have constant pain. The only variance is how bad does it hurt at any given moment. Green Vixen
Is there a 7+ button LOL, some weeks it feels like there are more than 7 days in it! I have Fibromyalgia, Migraines, Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (auto-immune disease) and a messed up SI joint/back from a separated pelvis from my twin pregnancy. It's been a bad month and the meds they're giving me to help are causing more problems then they're helping :glare:. Jen in PA
I voted 7 because... well, because if I am honest with myself that is accurate. Wheres Toto
Probably 3 to 5 days depending on the season. Sinus headaches in fall and spring. Knee, foot and arm pain in damp and chilly weather. mommymilkies
7. I have an injured back-twisted back/rib muscle. Chiropractor was helping for awhile, but they stopped their payscale for if you do not have insurance coverage, so I had to stop going. I take more ibuprofen than I would like to admit. I hate medications of any kind. But it's the only thing that helps. I also can only sleep in one position at night because of it, without me waking up crying in pain, so that causes hip pain. :glare:
Krista in LA
I put 5 but that's only been for the past 7 weeks as I have been recovering from a couple bouts of pancreatitis and then gallbladder surgery. Karen in CO
Where's the "Other" option? This week I'm on track to be in pain for 4-6 days because I have my second migraine of the week. Tammyla
I need the other choice too. I hate to admit it but, cold weather is worse for me. My knees always hurt going up and down the stairs, and I have occasional migraines and back pain due to a pinched nerve, and of course other various aches and pains. Moving to a warmer place would be a blessing to my often aching body. I miss summer and fall already.:nopity: :grouphug: My heart goes out to all those who are in real pain everyday. I am sad so many of you are in pain all the time - and , wow, I never realised how common auto-immune disorders seem to be. What is up with that? I've noticed far more people with autoimmune and pain disorders online than in my day to day life. Back when no one had heard of fibro I was told by someone online, who was later diagnosed, that she spent most of her time online because she could sit and interact from the computer as she was able. It was tough for her to do that in public settings, but she could maintain friendships and spend time chatting online. I've always assumed that this played a part. I know people in everyday life also aren't going to introduce themselves as "Margie with RA," though.
Kathleen in VA
Every day, all day long - even while I sleep. I have had spinal fusion surgery and have six screws in my lower back. Bending over, even just a little bit (say to brush my teeth or set the table) hurts. Stuff has to be done so that means I'm pretty much in pain all the time. Driving and walking exacerbate the pain. Grocery shopping is pure torture. I also have fibroid tumors which I'm hoping will fade now that I'm almost 53 years old. That feels like menstrual cramps, but I don't have that pain continually - it comes and goes.
AHASRADA
I chose one day, because while I am never "in pain" for an entire day, I do wake up with a sore back every AM, which could be averaged out to "a day's worth" of pain over the course of a week. The pain is gone once I get up and get started on my routine. Oh yes, and I have foot pain from time to time, but that's about it. No, I do not think most people are in pain "most of the time". Pain is supposed to signal something being wrong with your body, or your environment (an old mattress and bunions, respectively, in my case). Guest IdahoMtnMom
Every day. Mostly it's my knees. Last year, I was paralyzed from the waist down due to hepatic encephalitis and then was bed ridden for 10 weeks in hospitals while my organs failed and then (miraculously) rebounded when they were not supposed to. I began walking unassisted about 6 months after I first lost the use of my legs and at that point, we realized somewhere in the there my knees were shot. I cannot take acetominophin or ibuprofin because of my kidney's and liver and the doctors prefer I don't take aspirin and N-saids. My ortho is not sure how well steroids would metabolize inthe body SO.... I do a lot of physical therapy and work on getting them better... most days, though, I hurt at some point. JudoMom
It does become your normal doesn't it?I am sorry you are in so much pain. When you are dealing with the sort of chronic issues you have or possibly have, how do you manage? Has anyone referred you to a pain specialist, or do you take medication? I have pain most days of the week. Mine is caused by a significant leg length discrepancy that in turn causes inflammation in my SI joints. I'm on low dose steroids and immune suppressants, and these help. But I also have to take pain killers most days. I was referred to a pain specialist (for the pinched nerve in my neck), but never went because it was during the worst of my liver issues and I didn't want to pay more $ for a doctor to give me another prescription for a pain that comes and goes. I'm sorry that your SI joint hurts--that's one of the worst places to have pain for me because no matter what you're doing, standing or sitting, it's being stressed.
