My sister accompanied her the first time. We have friends who went to a luxury resort in Tanzania a couple of years ago -- their photos were stunning. It was part of a military operation to deliver food to Somalia, so he didn't actually get to see much of the country. She taught school there (English girls). She worked incredibly hard to get her Swahili to a level that would allow her to teach in the African girls' school, but the Min of Ed (or whoever controlled education at that time) told her that she was too good a teacher to go to the African school. Geographically speaking I've been to Africa, but technically speaking not because it was Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Northern Africa just across the Strait of Gibraltar.
