Imprimis
We'll be doing school tomorrow.
mcconnellboys
We're doing school because we're leaving on Friday morning for a vacation....
missiemick
Yes, because we'll be off for Rosh Hashana later in the week. DH is off but I think it will be good for him to see what we do all day.
Luckymama
No school tomorrow because (1) her older siblings have a day off and (2) dh is off because the markets (stock, bond----not grocery!) are closed. The big kids have homework to do, however.
Maverick_Mom
We haven't started yet (Tuesday's our first day), so tomorrow is our last day of "freedom." ;)
LisaKinVA
Nope, have to do school around here. My dh is off, but he is overseeing a science experiment. Our fall schedule is too hectic to take off extra days "just because." My aunt and uncle are coming for a week, followed closely by a trip to Williamsburg with the grandparents, then we're just a hop-skip and jump away from Thanksgiving... Christmas rush... I need *every* day.
Pretty in Pink
Yes, we are doing a full day of school. I figure that since the college is closed tomorrow I will have a full day free and we'll be able to get some work done.
Daisy
No school here! Hubby has off and we are going on a picnic. We are taking off Friday also for my daughter's birthday and our homeschool group's yearly back-to-school bbq. It's going to be a FUN week. :D
dm379
Yes. It'll be raining all day from Mon - Thurs. at least. If they don't do school they'll drive me nuts. Besides if they do it now we will be able to take off in case we ever get decent weather.
plain jane
Definitely! Dh is home and we're not very productive when he is so I may as well just call it a day and enjoy it with him. :)
dansamy
Littlest two are doing math & grammar. Oldest is bagging/begging for tips for boy scouts at the local grocer.
TravelingChris
Yes, my older dd will be doing a practice ACT test since she is taking it on Saturday. My younger will do many of her subjects but not all. My dh will be writing our homeschool philosophy and the counselor recommendation for older dd's college applications. LittleIzumi
Heck yeah! The first thing the girls ask in the morning (literally, some mornings) is "can we do school???" It would be torture not to, and they would ask over & over & over again.
cin
Dh is home tomorrow, but we're doing school. He's working on re-facing the fireplace, and needs to be able to focus on his work. Plus we're taking the full week at Thanksgiving and 3-4 weeks at Christmas. And a few other breaks here and there.
Dobela
Yes, I usually take off the holidays, especially if dh is able to be off and at home. This year my son left Thursday for an extended weekend traveling with his grandpa and won't be back until late Monday. Dh and I have spent the last 2 days sort of clearing out the basement and just relaxing. I finally gave up boxes of books and just sent him to donate them at the library. I sent so many books this time that there was no room for passengers :blushing: Next I just have to get the piles of childrens clothes to the consignment store... Too bad she only accepts 50 items at a time. :tongue_smilie:
anneofalamo
We usually take the same days off as the PS, as our neighborhood is filled with some really sweet kids! but...................... we were invited to watch honey brought in and can't pass up that opportunity...darn it, they will be learning :tongue_smilie:
Mommy22alyns
My plan is to do school tomorrow since the girls won't have their co-op or even gymnastics.
MamaT
Yes and no. Dh is working a half day, so we'll stop when he gets home. We're planning to go to the apple festival tomorrow afternoon!
Kim in Appalachia
my dh is doing a 10k, 3 kids plus myself are running the 5k, and 2 kids are doing the 2 mile walk. It's our local town annual race and we make it a family affair.
sheryl
This is the first time we are actually taking off and we are doing it because my dh is off. Anyone else? Actually we'll be taking it off too. Good thing as it seems all we do is school. ;) Trying to change that this year!!!
Margo out of lurking
Tomorrow is our first day of school! We prefer to wait until Sept. to begin. Starting on the holiday works great with my work schedule (usually 3 days a week, but 2 during holiday weeks). I like planning everything out for five days right off the bat, and it's not like we usually do anything else for Labor Day weekend. My kids don't mind. My dd didn't even know tomorrow is a holiday until I mentioned it this afternoon.
Hunter's Moon
Stephanie, I'm so glad you are here on the boards. You tell it like it is. :D Haha, thanks. :D
kalanamak
Yes, any day I'm off is school day, and I'm trying to jam in more things. Third grade is tougher than the second!!
kokotg
DH is home, but I think we're doing school. It's kind of fun to do school when he's home sometimes so he gets to see what we do all day. And we're going to Disney in a couple of weeks, so we'll have a whole week off for that.
Kate in Arabia
We actually aren't starting school this year until after Ramadan, which ends on Wed or Thurs this week; dh has work holidays for Eid, five days starting on Wed.
AppleGreen
Yup! My dh owns his company and usually works holidays, so we will be doing school. If he were taking the day off we'd probably skip, but it's easier to stay in the groove now that we've gotten going again!
Garga
We are doing school. Totally forgot it was labor day until family called and said, "When do you want to come to the cook out?" "Oops...I guess after school is done for the day." "What!? School on a holiday?" Yup. School on a holiday.
ecj98
Nope, no school tomorrow. DH will be home, and we have a birthday party to go to.
Jean in Newcastle
Tomorrow was supposed to be our first day of school. But dh has the day off and we are going to go on our first date in way too long (we even missed our anniversary in June because I was so sick all summer). I canceled our first day of school for love :001_wub:
homeschooltoone
No school here. Haven't even started for the year yet. Planning to start Tuesday.
Guest janainaz
Nope, no school. We've been on break for the last week and it ends on Tuesday. But, if we were not on a break we would have been doing school.
dirty ethel rackham
No school here. Dh has the day off, so it is just part of the weekend. Probably the last one until Thanksgiving due to outside classes.
AngieW in Texas
We have never done school on Labor Day, but that's also a day that my dh has always had off. Since we moved to a regular neighborhood 7 years ago, we have followed the ps schedule. We still work through the summer, but we do a VERY light load and take the first and last weeks of summer completely off along with one or two weeks in the middle of summer. Forget-Me-Not
I'm going to have them do some math at least, just because we're in the middle of switching math currics for both kids and we got a little behind last week. DH is off so we're going to take a drive and have a picnic. We'll probably listen to something in the car that will count as "fine arts" :) And we have a chapter book we're reading every day. Michele B
A little. I plan on doing piano and violin practice and our theology and bible lessons. DH is home and will be doing the Beowulf lit guide we have been putting together. The weather looks like it is going to be great, so we may sneak in a science lesson (deciduous vs evergreens is next in our book) while we are outside. mama2cntrykids
Yes, we did school today. My dh was home and my ds9 asked, "Why is Dad home?". I just said because he had the day off. I even mentioned it was Labor Day and ds9 said, "Let's go camping!!" lol. Shhhh...don't tell them, lol!
ChemMommy
I have to work and so does dh, so it is easier to work this holiday and know that we can take a day off in October, when both my dh and I have a holiday. So, we Labor on Labor Day. PS here starts tomorrow----it's officially the end of summer!
Heather in OK
Yes, we did school today. :)
Mommee & Baba
I planned on it. However dh was home today and we didn't do any school. Plus we're all still recovering from the flu. We only did 1 day of school last week it was ROUGH in this house! So glad we're all on the mend and we'll be returning back to normal tomorrow! Carrie12345
We were supposed to do school today. Instead, we wound up finishing our bathroom remodel, decluttering the kitchen, and having our first dinner over our new outdoor fire bowl. :D
