  1. I haven't been on here in months, but had to tell you how sorry I am, Rosie. No words.
  2. I haven't been on here for a while - my life has gotten very busy with three high schoolers and babysitting my grands. :) I came back to list some items for sale, and had a very hard time. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will change in a couple of weeks and try again.
  3. We have only (so far) used Apologia in high school. My oldest three sons that have taken college science classes have felt very prepared, even the one with a Biochemistry major.
  4. I live in Asheville, actually 12 miles north in a small town called Weaverville. It is a wonderful area for families. There are several active community theaters, a huge art community, and beautiful outdoor areas to explore. Asheville proper is hippy/liberal, but outside the city limits are very conservative areas. The homeschool community is huge, Christian and secular. There are plenty of groups to choose from. Buncombe County has the highest percentage of homeschoolers per capita in NC. Henderson County, Hendersonville, is just south of Asheville. It is a very pretty town with a very active homeschooling community.
  5. What a beautiful smile! Love, love my grands. My third is due in July, and I can't wait!
  6. This looks awesome! I used Apologia with my first four, but I would love to use this next year with my last two. Thanks so much for sharing!
  7. I am so sorry. I wish you lived close enough to throw him in here with my three quirky teens. :) I think the best thing you can do for next year is plan, plan, plan. If there are detailed instructions for him, it will be much easier for him to do the next thing. I know, at least around here, if there is any ambiguity in my written instructions and I am not home, my teens use that as an excuse to put work aside until they can ask me questions. There seems to be a big jump in maturity around that age for boys (at least in my experience). I am sure he will rise to the occasion. I wish you the best as you navigate through the times ahead. (((Hugs)))
  8. I haven't been on here much for a while now, so I didn't know Kay was missing. Your words have meant so much to me through the years, Kay. You are an incredible, inspiring person. Much love and peace to you, and prayers for you, your dh, and ds.
  9. I've had four - tried a Vbac, but ended up with another C-section. I knew with my fourth I was done having babies. I had 3 miscarriages previously and we had already adopted our first daughter. I knew I wanted to adopt another girl and call it good. :)
  10. Julie, I've been taking a break, but I had to come on here long enough to tell you I have been, and will continue to pray for you.
  11. My cousin named his son the same thing as one of mine, but he called and asked me first. It didn't bother me in the least.
  12. Whether I pulled her or not would depend on a couple of things. First, how long will she have this coach? Just for this level? If so, I would probably stick it out. Also, what other competitive gyms are in your area? I would probably drop in and watch their team practice, especially how their coaches interact with the gymnasts. Most kids (mine included - level 10) respond to a positive coach much better than a negative one who is always putting them down. I would not do that to my dd long term.
  13. I like Charlotte Jane. I like Joanne, but not spelled with a capital A.
