  1. and in my case, taking it to my pastor led to confusion and misunderstanding. every situation is unique. there are some good words being spoken here. it's good to see many sides and opinions in a given situation.
  2. i've used gf oats run through the blender for meatballs and meatloaf.
  3. ds's shorts, a happy birthday sign taped to the kitchen cabinet, some broken tiles on a mosaic, other various artwork, a bean bag chair, my stapler and tape dispenser. . .
  4. see, that is what i keep telling her. it is HER experience. not mine. not theirs. it can be what she wants it to be. she is NOT succumbing to peer pressure. i think she is just trying to be independent which she should be. i just needed a little affirmation that i am leading her in a good direction. or not. thanks!
  5. this is my advice to her. and i believe she will find hers. in time. meanwhile, her family is here and close enough by until she does.
  6. maybe a better question is "is there a typical college experience?" she is having trouble adjusting but i firmly believe she will. she just needs to take her own time. she is out of town but close enough to come home weekends whenever. and i have given her the freedom to choose "whenever". i am only trying to advise her and i wanted some input from others. does that help? thanks!
  7. i am trying to convince my college freshman that her college experience is hers alone and that is okay. i think her friends are trying to convince her otherwise. i'm okay that she lives her life, but i keep being drawn into it. . .your thoughts are appreciated!
  8. Fun! Mine has a first boyfriend from a first date at the same age. It's all good!
  9. thanks for all the various thoughts so far. at least one of them will be 17 (almost 18). does anyone know if this will be a problem? the others will be 18 and up. this trip is in the early planning stages. and this information will help us begin to weigh our options! :001_smile:
  10. i don't post much or much of any value! :001_smile: but i lurk a lot and i appreciate the diversity and wisdom i find here. i want some input and i have no doubt i can get some here! what are your thoughts on a group of 4 or 5 teens (17yo to 19yo) traveling to ireland together? can minors do this? where can they stay? is this safe in any way? did you ever do anything like this? would you let your children? what if a 20-something young adult went along - would that change things? tell all, please! and thank you.
