Mom in High Heels
That stuff is VILE James Bond loves it though, and he will only drink it if it's really cold.
Arcadia
Do folks really drink it warm or hot?I drink eggnog with coffee. Don't like plain eggnog. Something like Starbucks eggnog latte http://www.starbucks.com/menu/drinks/espresso/eggnog-latte Or Peet's eggnog latte http://m.peets.com/stores/menus/coffee-espresso-beverages/eggnog-latte.html
Onceuponatime
Cold, mixed with orange juice. :hat:
Excelsior! Academy
The only brand I like is Braum's, which is only in a handful of states. It must be served cold.
creekland
Cold! And I love the stuff, but don't drink it too often for health reasons. I wouldn't touch it hot or warm. Room temp maybe.
Pippen
Cold, preferably with rum.
Chris in VA
Cold, if it's the real stuff. If it's just eggnog flavored something or other, like Eggnog Coffee, I'm ok with hot. Lactose intolerance hates this time of year.
ktgrok
I voted room temp, because I don't like it really cold, just kind of coolish. Never had it hot. But intrigued by the idea.
trulycrabby
The only brand I like is Braum's, which is only in a handful of states. It must be served cold. I remember Braum's! :) It's the best, and not available where I live. :(
idnib
Wow,the answers are overwhelmingly for cool/cold. I thought it was a warm drink but I don't celebrate Christmas and as you can see, should probably just stay out of this crazy eggnog business. :D
displace
Cold straight or as a flavored creamer for coffee.
Tsuga
Hot with coffee, cold with alcohol. I make my own for the holiday, but I will buy Starbucks eggnog lattes. :) ETA: for the first time ever, it occurred to me that I could actually have eggnog, coffee, and alcohol in the same drink, like coffee and Baileys. I think that would still have to be hot. And come to think of it, I've had it warmed with alcohol, too. So I guess I'm coming down on the side of hot. 73349
Wouldn't heating it mess up the texture? It's traditionally made with raw eggs.
Seasider
Cold! But if it's a my hubby's famous recipe nog, it will leave you feeling warm!
Upward Journey
I voted other. Because eggnog. :ack2:
strange_girl
I voted other. Because eggnog. :ack2: Noooo! ;) Eggnog is the best! And it should be served cold. :)
Tohru
I always thought it was suppose to be served warm with alchohol because it's cold outside...like hot cocoa or warm cider. ETA: huh, well Ms. Martha Stewart (my homemaking idol) serves it well cooled, so I guess that's the way it's done. Had no idea!
clementine
When I think of drinking warm/hot eggnog, I'd rather have a Tom & Jerry. I like my eggnog really cold, sometimes over vanilla ice cream. I've never thought of putting it in my coffee....I like the sound of that! Jackie
Cold, with rum. Homemade only.
Joyofsixreboot
I don't like cold drinks. I drink most " cold" drinks at room temperature so that's my vote.
KungFuPanda
Cold, with spiced rum. A bottle of spiced rum lasts me for YEARS because I only use a few splashes a year during Nog Season.
Anne in CA
I voted other because eggnog is so versatile that it should be enjoyed both ways. Frequently. AFTER Thanksgiving. The end.
Sun
I drink eggnog with coffee. Don't like plain eggnog. Something like Starbucks eggnog latte http://www.starbucks.com/menu/drinks/espresso/eggnog-latte Or Peet's eggnog latte http://m.peets.com/stores/menus/coffee-espresso-beverages/eggnog-latte.html Yep. It's eggnog latte season, so I'll have to make a trip to Starbucks soon to get one. I did read that Starbucks is only doing its eggnog latte in the northwest this year because the rest of the US has apparently not noticed its yumminess. I can't stand eggnog if it's not in a latte. It's too viscous if it's not cut with milk and coffee.

DesertBlossom
Only cold. And I don't drink alcohol, but growing up we'd add a splash of 7up or Sprite to our cups. I've turned a few eggnog haters into lovers that way.
PeacefulChaos
Other: None. Eggnog is disgusting. :ack2:

Jane in NC
Eggnog reminds me of my Mom. :001_smile: Homemade eggnog is served warm or at room temperature. Do some of you refrigerate it before you serve it or are you talking about those cartons of disgusting yuck from the grocery? (Not that any of us have strong opinions on the subject!) Pam in CT
People drink egg nog? Around here, it is used strictly the basis of a fine french toast. With a good fluffy soak-up-the-yum bread (like challah) and loads of cinnamon.
HS Mom in NC
Huh. I had no idea people drank eggnog that wasn't cold.

foxbridgeacademy
I look forward to Christmas for 2 reasons, the food and the COLD eggnog. Otherwise, I'm pretty much Bah Humbug.
Slartibartfast
I would only drink it cold. I would prefer Braum's but since I can't have milk I buy the fake kind. :(

Jane in NC
Reviving this thread because I just learned something. When I thought I was drinking eggnog, I was drinking a "Tom and Jerry". My mom's recipe says "Tom and Jerry" but for some reason we called it eggnog!! http://www.georgetowner.com/articles/2012/jan/12/cocktail-week-warming-tom-and-jerry/
merry gardens
We serve it cold, but I enjoy it more once it's a bit closer to room temperature. Yet I'd never serve it at room temperature because of food safety concerns with dairy products out of the refrigerator.
Mommy_of_4
Cold but my husband likes to put some in his coffee.
IsabelC
Between warm and hot. Like hot shower kind of temperature. It's meant to warm you up on cold winter nights, isn't it? Seriously, I've never heard of it being drunk chilled before. Look what you learn on TWTMF! ;) Although I am hardly an expert, as it's not something we consume more than a couple of times a year. And I have never seen any commercial versions, so only had it home made. ETA - I think maybe egg nog is actually something different here. The way I make it, it's basically heated milk, with an egg, a dash of brandy and a little sugar whipped in and spices on top. The stuff you have sounds more like alcoholic custard? The drink you describe is more like what I would call a brandy milk punch, and that ice had warm. Egg nog is a thick beverage, so not a custard, more the consistency of heavy cream. Cinder
Other. There is no good temperature for drinking eggnog. :P
