Kids had the rare bowl of cold cereal today, I haven't had anything yet. 2) What kind of car do you drive? a dark blue Mazda Protege' named Manly 3) What's your weather today? Beautiful! Cool, crisp, and clear autumn day. 4) Are your toenails painted? If so, what color? Nope- don't have enough toe nails to paint. 5) Read any good books lately? What was it? Just finished Visual Chronicles, almost finished with Taking Flight, and just starting Woman in White, for the book group here. 6) Is your bed made? Mostly. I just pull the comforter up- no real straightening required. The Dude is gone this week, and I like my bed to be "nesty". 7) What's for dinner? It is youth group's halloween fundraiser dinner tonight, so it will be mac and cheese. Those of us who don't do dairy will probably just eat salad- and candy. 8) Name something your dc have done today that made you smile. Ummm. Nothing yet, I hate to say. I will probably smile when I see them in their costumes. 9) What color is your bathroom rug? Tie-dyed. 10) Who's your favorite artist? Renoir, Matisse, Picasso- do I need to pick just one??? 11) What's your favorite morning beverage? Orange juice 12) Do you have any toys from when you were a child? Yes. A rubber cat, and lots of books. 13) Do you collect anything? Yes. Bells, stone eggs, shells, wool roving, paint, beads, art supplies 14) Are you looking forward to the holidays? (whichever days you celebrate) Sorta. Thanksgiving is going to be bittersweet due to nephew's death anniversary and the sentencing trial. I am only sorta looking forward to Christmas, as we are trying to be frugal. I guess I am not as excited as I usually am. 15) What are you wearing today? Right now I am wearing a bight blue sweater and jeans- I will be changing into my fortune-telling costume later- flowy skirt, peasant blouse, head scarf. Oops. I so did not do the quote thingy right. My dh has to have spinal fusion and I was explaining the surgery to my 8yo ds. His response was, "One slip of the knife and it's all over." He's done a great job with amazing continuity connections--just finishing number 1 again (The Eyre Affair) and there are so many little seeming throw aways that become critical in the 5th book. Great stuff, and funny! 6) Is your bed made? Yes. Turned over a new leaf since we moved, never used to make beds, now they are made every day. 7) What's for dinner? Baked chicken, asparagus, rice. Funny you should ask. Currently our family car, a 2002 Volkswagen Passat, is getting its brakes checked. It was really fall here today! Cool, sunny, very breezy at times. The trees are getting some good color. I love Monet and Van Gogh. I actually own works by Claude Pissarro and Kathy Stone (a Baton Rouge artist) which are my favorite in my house. 11) What's your favorite morning beverage? No, though my dd has something that was precious to me as a child. When I was in first grade my mother crocheted me a multicolored poncho, and a matching poncho for my doll. Now my dd has it, and her AG doll has the matching doll poncho. 13) Do you collect anything? Books. 14) Are you looking forward to the holidays? (whichever days you celebrate) Not so much. While I always really enjoy time with dh and the kids, and with dh's family, the politics and infighting in my half of the family makes the season miserable. I stay engaged with this group of people solely because I help raise my little cousins whose mother has a brain tumor. 15) What are you wearing today? Well, I went downtown to vote early, so I am all cutsied up. Silver earrings and silver necklace, black turtleneck sweater, nifty bootcut jeans. I sacrificed cute for comfort in the footwear department though and am wearing ordinary gym shoes. Dh has been on a Cretan food kick and seems to be eating bread with oil and vinegar, baby spinach leaves and feta cheese. Dd will eat at least two bananas then carry on eating whatever else I will give her for the rest of the morning. I'm not really sure when breakfast stops with her, because she eats all day. 2. A manual, Mitsubishi Magna. My mamma wagon :) 3. Quite warm, but quite a bit of cloud cover at present. 4. Definately no toe nail polish. I have really ugly big toes and don't need to draw attention to them! 5. Yeah, just finished a good book on Paganism, inspired by the religous threads a few weeks back. I'm currently reading a collection of essays about Australian women's cultural life/history. The last few have been about theatre. 6. Sure my bed is made! The pillow and doona are both on the bed :D 7. I will be eating salad for dinner every night until Australia Day weekend (Jan 26.) There should have been left over soup to go with it, but it was gross so we won't be eating that. Don't know what the other two are having, but dd will probably require a few pre-dinner bananas. She's a bit of an addict. 8. Dd woke up crying at about 6am, so came into bed with me. When she woke up later, she grizzled, turned over, found a book left there the night before and got stuck right into it. :) Bananas and books, what else does a girl need? 9. The bathroom mat is pink and purple. Not even sure where it came from, because I don't remember buying it. 10. Haven't got a favourite artist. I have a least favourite painting though and feel stressed just thinking about it. If we can talk about art other than painting, my favourite was a lady who's name I never knew, who did glass etching. I used to save my pathetic amount of pocket money so I could buy something off her each year at the local festival. I was so reliable, she used to greet me with "hello again!" each time. Her work used to sell in fancy galleries for about 4 times the price, but she seemed to get a kick out of selling to persons of low income like myself at the festival. She did roses and ships, but I liked her Australian birds and animals best. Each year she'd promise to die before the next festival, and one year, she wasn't there. It's funny, I was just thinking about her the other week; someone I only saw probably half a dozen times, but she made an impact :) 11. My only allowed morning beverage at the moment is watered down apple juice, but I like it, so that's ok. 12. Dd has been playing with a pig toy puppet I had when I was younger. Piles of books, of course. 13. Of course! I collect books, recipes and fabric :D Also cloth badges, a habit from my girl guide days that I just can't break and craft books. I inherited my grandmother's collection and feel it is my familial duty to add to it, for whoever I pass it on to. 14. I'd be looking forward to Melbourne Cup day if I still lived in Melbourne! It's next Tuesday, and dh would get a day off. But we don't, so he'll go to work and I'll put the car in to get serviced. 15. Alright, it's hot and I'm pregnant. I'm sitting here wearing sandals and a brown, crushed velvet skirt pulled up over my bra.
