Enjoyed the caves also!! We also loved the 1880s train that takes you from Hill City to Keystone (or vice versa - you can get a return journey and it is approximately an hour each way). We preferred Crazy Horse over Mt Rushmore, although it will take many more years before it is finished.

My 10yr old dd loves: Horrible Histories Horrible Science Murderous Maths Horrible Geography You can buy these in either box sets or in multiples, which make them so much cheaper than buying singles. just be prepared for your child to say "did you know........."(all the time), when they find particularly interesting facts. LOL

I love, love, love it here! Yes, the winters here can be brutal, but we stock up on winter necessities (wood etc) in summer and are prepared (for the most part LOL) for what ever Mother Nature wants to throw at us. Once you have contacted the school district re: your intentions to homeschool, you should receive a Letter of Intent To Provide Home-Schooling. Here you would list all of your children,DOBs and Grades. It will ask you to list the sequentially progressive curriculum that you intend to use for each child eg Ambleside Online etc. and that is IT. The School District will send you back a copy of this Letter of Intent.., which I carry around in my purse and use it when I want to get Educator discount cards from Barnes & Noble, Hastings...
