  1. I hate lateness. I cut my friends some slack since they're usually getting kids out of the house, as am I, but I always leave way early. In a professional setting it drives me insane to have to wait and wait on someone. Just yesterday I had an 8:30a appt. and I arrived and signed in at 8:20a. I wasn't called back until 8:55a and I was the first appt. and the only one there.
  2. I've had mine for 5 or 6 years. It's on a bottom molar. If it were amalgam you would be able to see it when I talk.
  3. I have a composite filling and I like that you can't tell. It was a rather large, but flat filling and it it were amalgam it'd look horrible.
  4. Our district is half day for most children. Kids with IEPs and such who need additional therapies can go for a full without paying an additional fee. Typical kids can extend the day for a fee. My niece in another major city goes to K on M,W,TH one week and just M and W the next. It's so confusing for her and not very consistent.
  5. Aden+Anais blankets are the very best baby gift. Infinitely useful and soft, yet lightweight. They are much larger than standard sized baby blankets.
  6. That's what I was going to add. My daughter really enjoyed that book when she was 6. It's a fun read.
  7. I'll just speak about #5 because that's where I eat while I'm at the convention. If you go out the huge doors by the registration and walk across the street and keep going there is a courtyard with food establishments around the perimeter and there is a chipotle. It's easily walked to from the center.
  8. I was running the same programs (chrome on xp) and ran into the same issue. I had to download mozilla firefox, which is the program I was running prior to chrome. I could not find a work around.
  9. My little guy was on an appetite stimulant called Megace, which we used off label as a side effect is weight gain. Though when that didn't do the trick he ended up with a NG feeding tube and was on a complete formula 18 hours a day. I tried to make the foods that he ate count, so lots of high fat and high calorie foods. I cooked things in coconut oil, real butter, and olive oil. And whatever he wanted to eat I would make it or get it right away before the craving passed. Hope you find something that works for your mom.
  10. We've been doing Little Passports for a year now. My 8 year old really likes it, but after looking at Top Secret Adventures, which I'd never heard of, I think we'll switch. It seems to have more content. We've really enjoyed LP, but I think my daughter would enjoy TSA more.
  11. My 8 year old loves to receive mail so I bought a subscription for her birthday. We've had 8 packages so far and she really enjoys them. There is an online component that we haven't explored yet, but each package focuses on a country and includes a photo of a landmark, an item that would be associated with that country, a luggage tag with a code to access the additional info online, a letter from the two kids who are traveling and a fact sheet with some games like word finds on it. Based on the kids I know I could see it being something for kids 5-12. The company has been really easy to work with and they respond quickly to emails.
  12. I love it too! We're keeping that method for sure. However, I don't believe we considered it revolutionary in the beginning. And I'm glad you have D and E to check as our girls move on to multiplication and division.
  13. I was actually going to come and post about our conversation last night, but I'm glad you did because I think you covered it better than I would have. :D I'll just add a bit to the conversation. My daughter went through RS B and part of RS C. Due to a crazy life situation I felt like I couldn't keep up with padding RS out in order to make it work for us any longer. I, like Tara, was adding worksheets, word problems, doing the card games and it was all too much work. I'm not a lazy homeschooler and we both loved RS, but I couldn't continue spending 2+ hours a week making worksheets and playing games in order to flesh out an already meaty math program. (Apologies to my lovely vegan friend for the meat references.:tongue_smilie:) We did Math Mammoth Addition and Subtraction 2b over the summer while doing RS C and I really fell in love with the pace that MM moved and the amount of work was perfect for her.
  14. We used kosher salt here and it worked well. The ice cream was so much fun. We all took turns shaking it up.
  15. This happens to us a lot with a particular prophylactic antibiotic my son takes. His Rx is for 80ml/month but sometimes there is just 70 or 75ml. Obviously that shorts us a dose or 2 per month. Definitely call and complain. They should fix it without additional charge to you. I've started opening our bag o' medicine and checking the actual amounts using the markings on the bottle against the needed amount. We use the children's hospital pharmacy across town, so it saves a trip.
  16. Another atheist family here. I had no idea that there were so many!
  17. I shoot Nikon and my favorite lens is a 50mm prime because I love bokeh. I also have a polarizing UV filter on my lenses as it protects them from damage. There are differing qualities of filters. I mainly shoot outdoors and have a good quality multi coated glass UV filter.
  18. We started with WWE1 and I agree that WWE1 seems more gentle than WWE2. WWE2 progresses quickly, but slowly and with hand holding for the instructor. We stretch out the concepts present in WWE 2 if needed so that she is comfortable with what is being asked of her before moving along. Have you considered buying the book that goes over the entire program and moving through slowly with your child using your own sources? It would allow you to move at a more comfortable pace.
  19. I was going to say the same thing. If nothing comes of the CBC and he continues to pick up illnesses back to back I would consider checking his IGG level.
  20. I did twice. The first time was a partial lease like you would be doing. The horse remained on their property and they did all upkeep and vetting. I did take lessons from the owner and was allowed to ride whenever I wanted. I also showed him in 4H and local shows. I used all of their tack and equipment. They were really sweet people and it was a win/win situation. The second time around I owned my own horse, but she wasn't able to jump any more due to arthritis, so I leased a jumper. She was also boarded where I kept my own horse. I was responsible for her care, but they paid for vet bills and farrier. I had and used all of my own tack and equipment with her. It was a trickier lease and communication was poor, but overall I was happy with the experience. The following summer I bought myself a younger horse so I wouldn't have to worry about leasing again. This was in 95 and 98. The 95 lease was for a full year and the 98 was for a show season, Feb-Oct. I would advise you to sign a lease and make sure who is responsible for daily care, vet bills, farrier bills, exercise, etc etc is all spelled out clearly. Make sure the termination of the lease from either party is clear in terms of agreeing how it would be down if for whatever reason it would need to be termed before the date set.
  21. It was a 98 Saturn SC2 that I bought when I finally obtained my license at 19½.
  22. Hopefully you can get it figured out. I'll need the help in 37 lessons. I get how to do it in certain situations, but not in every instance, such as your example above. I'm tempted to run Sophie through the lesson right now just to see if it becomes clearer when I'm teaching it. I really want to help you, well us really, figure this out. Where are all the RS peeps? :bigear:
