Oh, and this thing! You put the clove of garlic in it, then push on it and roll. The peel falls right off, with no picking at it, etc. Stupid, but it works SO well. https://www.amazon.com/BigKitchen-Silicone-Garlic-Peeler-Red/dp/B0006GSP6O

That's funny!  I was just going to post the pampered chef garlic peeler/slicer combo, but it's also $20 :)  Katie, the slicer is awesome.  Pop the cloves in there and twist and paper thin slices fall out.  It makes lovely, fragrant garlic olive oil.

Heavy duty stainless steel measuring spoons

This lemon/lime juicer, I use it all the time.  Best one I've tried, and reasonably priced:  http://www.worldmarket.com/product/lemon+squeezer.do?&from=Search

Not really a kitchen gadget, but I love these mugs.  They are big, well balanced, and don't burn your knuckles.  http://www.worldmarket.com/product/%22carpe+caffeine%22+mug%2C+set+of+2.do?page=2&from=fn

Mortar and pestle

Large colander with feet

Maybe a separate coffee grinder to use for spices?  Or a nutmeg grinder like this one:  https://www.thespicehouse.com/nutmeg-grinder

(I don't have one of those, but I'd like one.)

Largely a repeat of the prior posters:

microplane grater

lemon/lime juicer https://www.amazon.com/Amco-Enameled-Aluminum-Lemon-Squeezer/dp/B0002V23BG

mini-spatula (mine is from Pampered Chef. I have had it forever.) https://www.amazon.com/Pampered-Chef-Mini-Serving-Spatula-2622/dp/B004ETLFFW/ref=sr_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481819936&sr=1-6&keywords=mini-spatula

silicone coated whisk (great for gravy, cooked puddings/fillings, etc.)

garlic press

spring loaded ice cream scoop (for muffin batter mostly)

offset spatula for icing https://www.amazon.com/Wilton-409-7716-Angled-Spatula-13-Inch/dp/B00F0A6FYU/ref=sr_1_5?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481820038&sr=1-5&keywords=offset+spatula

Not really a kitchen gadget, but I really like my measuring spoons. They are rectangular so they sit on the counter without rolling and fit well in spice jars/containers.

that recipe rock looks great. I usually just tape the recipe to my cupboard so it's vaguely at eye level, lol. One a busy cooking weekend it looks like banners flapping in the wind.

LOL! That might work, but I'm pretty short. Before the rock I laid the recipe on the counter, which meant it ended up half covered in batter or flour or whatever.

Pampered Chef pastry blender. I was given one as a wedding present, but had never used one so it went unnoticed in a drawer for years. Then when I made my first pie crust I remembered I had it and pulled it out. It's been so handy for recipes that require cutting butter or shortening, like biscuits, crumbles, and pie crust.

I'm not sure if this counts as a gadget, but we received something similar as a wedding present and we use it virtually every day.

Glass Cutting Board,Tempered Glass (15 X 11-inch)

We don't use it as a cutting board.  We have it next to the stove and place hot pots and pans on it.

ETA:  This one looks more like ours but costs $18.00.

Regards,

Kareni

I was going to say I don't really have any "gadgets", but if garlic presses count hooboy let's go with that. I buy garlic several pounds of pre-peeled cloves at a time (same per pound cost as whole heads, actually), and use 5 - 10 cloves a day if I'm not making pickles or anything.

Immersion blender: https://smile.amazon.com/Betty-Crocker-BC-1303CK-Blender-Beaker/dp/B00K05AZQY/ref=sr_1_12?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1481827887&sr=1-12&keywords=immersion+blender

That one is cheap, mine comes with more attachments, but this would work to start.

Good whisks (silicone)

Silicone mats

good spatulas (heat proof preferrably)

Mixing bowls with pour spout like this: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001CDP5VS/ref=psdc_289696_t3_B007TFNTY8

not a gadget, but I love my non-stick muffin pans that hold 2 dozen I have 2 of these so I can bake 4 dozen muffins at once. Great for a large family or someone who likes to batch bake and freeze.

Microplane grater (already noted, just another vote!)

Tongs.  Decent ones that are easy to open and close with no loseable parts.

Not exactly a gadget but I ADORE the glass liquid measuring cups I just got at IKEA.   There are two sizes; I bought them both. They are a pleasure to hold.

(ETA, just saw that it's not available online, so my apologies if I made you want one and there is no IKEA near you.)

Giant box of precut half sheet parchment paper. You can get 100 sheets for $12ish on Amazon. Love not having to wash (or at the very least, scrub) pans.

Love these too! My mom gave me the box and I didn't think I would use them. They come in handy for all sort of things.

A somewhat gadget I'll add is jar label stickers: https://www.amazon.com/MFLABEL-Reusable-Chalkboard-Labels-Erasable/dp/B01F4XOX50/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481836812&sr=8-2&keywords=jar+stickers

And this particular chalk marker: https://www.amazon.com/Uchida-America-482-C-0-Bistro-Marker/dp/B00CWB0028/ref=lp_3049180011_1_3?srs=3049180011&ie=UTF8&qid=1481836965&sr=8-3

We eat a lot of Bonne Maman jam, and they look great with the labels for spices etc.

The one I use the most that was in that price range is likely my lemon press - I really love it and it was under $10.

My garlic press is one that is well-used, but I'm not sure if you could get a really good one for under $15. I LOVE mine from Pampered Chef; best one I've ever had/used.
