  1. This thread has moved on, however... I recently had my 8 year old evaluated. The center I found offers neurofeedback and interactive metronome. We are going to try those first before medication.
  2. Where can I find some info on this method? I need to do this!
  3. I don't want to sound like a corporate shill or anything, but I saw an ad on facebook for a disposable disc and went to their website. The facebook ad was good, showing how a tampon, cup, and their product fit in the body. They also sell a cup that when you pull on the tail, the suction is broken. https://flexfits.com/ There is also a product called Instead Softcup/Softdisc that has been around for a while and is available at regular stores. It's the same thing. Anyway, I thought based on the little video that people who find a cup uncomfortable might find this to be a better fit. It can also be used while having tea.
  4. I haven’t worn tampons in about six years. They got to be painful, and the very last time it caused me to wet my pants!! I switched to a cup. For what it’s worth, I very rarely need to attend to it in a public place. You can leave it in a lot longer than a tampon.
  5. This name sounds nice when you say it, a bit like Chastity without any connotation to sex. When I look at Abcde, it is not immediately recognizable as a word, much less a name. It looks like an accident to me, like someone entering data didn’t know the first name so just put a string of letters.
  6. If it’s the standard amount they give you, that seems fine to me. I ask for chick fila sauce even when I have some in the car. I like to always have one in case they forget in the future. I do specify just one though, the standard is two. That said, a friend once told me that her mom would take a handful of straws home from fast food restaurants and that is what they used at home. That’s not cool. Extreme cheapskate and not ethical.
  7. That's right, optional. We have Mario Kart, and you can play up to 8 people. The switch is for the kids, so we have no online play. I don't really know anything about Smash Brothers or how you play it! I don't know if it's the kind of game where you would want to play online.
  8. You do have to pay to play online with other people, looks like $20/year - A good bit cheaper than Xbox. https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/pricing/ I suggest pre-ordering the smash brothers bundle if possible.
  9. For some reason, I found myself on pinterest. Now, I hate pinterest. It is just pretty pictures that often don't lead anywhere, or you have to click 5 times to get anywhere. Anyway, I saw a million and one 'pictures' about how to clean a menstrual cup. Every one about how to 'deep clean' the cup, as if your period is somehow going to kill you if it gets on the thing you are using to hold it. Or maybe just because stains on the cup would make it unusable? Basically, nowadays you are supposed to wipe it with a "cupwipe" every time you empty it, and wash with special pH balanced "cupwash". GIVE ME A BREAK! I'm only 37 but sometimes I feel ancient (notice use of the word nowadays). I've been using a cup since before wipes and washes were even a thing that existed. It's just one more way to make something that was easy into a difficult process so people can sell something and also write 10 paragraphs with 10 fancy photos interspersed. I hate that people have to be so precious about stuff; it makes using a cup seem hard, expensive and even dangerous! It's actually really simple and cheap. Women don't need to be worried about killing their vaginas because they don't use the special, expensive, pH balanced cup wash on their menstrual cups. Part of the appeal is NO TRASH, not anymore when you have to use cupwipes all the time! UUUGH!
  10. Thankfully, my parents and in-laws are in good health. However, I do have experience with TBI. My husband has one, it happened 14 years ago this weekend. If I think too much about that time, I cry. It was unbelievably stressful, and I didn’t have kids then. You really can’t give full time care to your mom. I’m so sorry you are going through this. I think you should have a talk with her primary doctor, or case worker. Let them know what is going on. If she can’t manage on her own and can’t rely on her husband, then she needs to be in care- maybe just assisted living. I also think you should talk to a counselor for yourself.
  11. I prefer tide free and clear. For stinky towels, put vinegar in your softener spot. Set a timer and dry thoroughly afterwards. A bit of bleach every now and then is probably good for towels, too.
  12. I really did laugh out loud at this one. I'm hoping Yet Another Mom at the Park did not hear the full conversation or was trolling. One can hope, right???
  13. I order slim sizes for my son online. Children's Place works best for him as far as pants/shorts. They go up to 16 now. Skinny fit has never worked, those basically are super slim legs and regular waist/hips. He tried on a pair last year and they didn't fall off, but the fabric at the waist did not touch his body at all - just stood up all the way around! My son still has to adjust the waist a good bit on slim pants so they can appear a bit baggy. He is short in the torso and long in the leg so shirts generally cover it up. I feel like he gets a better fit with children'ts place than old navy though.
  14. This reminds me of the day Harry Potter book 5 came out. I was working at the public library. We had a big box delivered late Friday afternoon so they could be checked in and available for patrons the next day. I was so very very tempted to take one home and read it, a bring it back to work the next day. I am proud to report that I DID NOT do that. I did read one the next day, I had a huge block of time Saturday mornings before we opened. But I DID NOT TAKE IT HOME! Seems like what your mail carrier was doing would be considered mail theft. No wonder she was fired.
  15. I wouldn't say he's doing well. Pre-k was wonderful at an old-fashioned preschool; Kindergarten was good also with a teacher that was a perfect fit. This year has been meh. I don't feel like he has made a lot of academic progress and his behavior has been a problem. Also, out of the 176 days he's been to school, he has said he wants to be homeschooled about 70 of them. I couldn't have brother at home and not him. I loved school and want so much for my kids to thrive at school, but that is definitely not happening for DS10. I don't foresee that happening for DS7 as he gets older because of his difficulty sitting still.
  16. Thanks for the responses! Perhaps if I choose actual curriculum it will be easier to plan out what to do when. I will look for that book. Something I forgot to mention is that I teach for VIPKID, which throws another wrench in. I will have to train the kids to do a few things while I finish up in the mornings.
  17. I homeschooled my older son (DS10) when he was in 1st and 2nd grade. Since then, he has been at school along with his younger brother (DS7). I would like to go back to homeschooling in the fall but I am not feeling up to the task. Honestly, I only sortof want to homeschool DS7. He is very energetic and requires a great deal of supervision. He very likely has ADHD. The structure of school is good for him and he likes to see other kids a lot. I am having a hard time envisioning how it could work! When look for inspiration, blogs and posts are about having toddlers or 6+ kids; or using primarily computer based curriculum. I would prefer to actually teach them myself and I don't see how I can fit it all in and keep DS7 out of trouble and off a screen. Any advice? Any websites with good advice? I heard about a book that had various families' experiences, but I can't remember the name! It told stories of how people homeschooled to show the differences. Thanks
  18. the Calm app was really cool, but I couldn't pay $60 for a year of it. The bedtime stories were really great, I don't think I heard the ending of even one in a week.
  19. I’ve never joined this thread. I just list my goals for the day and report back later? Get Kitchen cleaned up Get boys’ rooms picked up DH work clothes washed and hung up
  20. I thought cat and jack had a 1 year guarantee?
  21. I can overnight a cashiers check using my banks website. It does cost $20, but is very convenient. Maybe your bank has this option?
  22. Well, I read about a man who did that for real and you can listen to his confession online. It happened in the 80s I believe. I don’t want to google it, it was so heinous I don’t want give more details. I read a Kathy Reichs book a few years ago that ended like that - women chained up in a basement. I was so angry. I will never read another of her books for fear of encountering something like that.
  23. I have been getting up at 4:30 to teach for VIPKID these last 9 months. It’s been a big change. Basically I go to bed when the kids do. I need to be asleep before 10. I sometimes take melatonin at night. At this point I will at least open my eyes before 4:45, though I don’t get up if I’m not teaching. Teaching at 5am is my limit. I tried to get up even earlier for a while but it just didn’t work. I may try the protein shake trick. I get up and work, but I wouldn’t call myself a morning person.
  24. My advice was going to be to contact Amazon for an a to z refund. I’m glad they took care of it!
