Chris in VA
My sil is there running--I called my mom, to ask her to call my brother, as we are estranged and I don't have her number. Pls pray she's ok. ETA--Just heard from my mom--my sil is fine. Her marathon time was 4 hours. It seems about 9 minutes later were the explosions. Stacia
On the news, they keep repeating that the emergency mgmt. assn. has asked that if you're trying to contact family or friends there, please text (it uses less bandwidth). Firefly
The brick building they keep showing is where my DH's office is. His building was evacuated. Fortunately he telecommutes most of the time; I'm so grateful he wasn't there today. :(
magic
I am praying. I broke down when I saw this on the news. My sons and brother are big marathon runners but none are there today. We have many friends who are runners and several are there. My heart breaks hearing about the deaths and the number of amputees.

Chris in VA
Want to say I based my "9 minute" comment on the clock in one of the films running on NBC, which showed the explosion and runners. (I hate to be inaccurate on these things--I really have no idea what time the darn thing even started). Now they are saying 2 dead at least 23 injured. And Boston PD is saying there was a third suspicious "package" blown up by the BPD on purpose. OMG. This is so awful.

gardenmom5
latest reports I"ve read are 12 dead. 60 injured. 2 bombs exploded, including one in the fairmont hotel. starbucks is about at the finish line and has alot of damage from a pic I saw. 2 more bombs have been found that didn't explode. (hopefully, they can get something worthwhile off of them to find these vermin.)

Jean in Wisc
Red Cross has a Safe & Well webpage--I don't know how many people know this exists and if they are using it today, but this is the link: https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php If nothing else, it is worth knowing that it is available if you ever need it. jenL
I'm completely sick over this. I know 3 runners. Thank God they are fine. Still waiting to hear from friends who are spectators. Slartibartfast
My SIL would have been running if she had not just been sent to London by her work. It's chilling. :( I heard on NPR that Peter Sagal from Wait Wait Don't Tell Me had passed the finish line not long before the explosion. OH_Homeschooler
they have a suspect! Is this a legit source though? I'm following the Boston PD on Twitter and they've only confirmed 2 dead.
momma2three
Has anyone else read that the final mile had been dedicated to Newtown and some of the families were seated near finish line? Yes :( They were seated in an area directly across from the first explosion.
momma2three
Is this a legit source though? I'm following the Boston PD on Twitter and they've only confirmed 2 dead. No, it's not. Right now they don't even know what kind of explosives were used or where they were placed (they think trash cans). They certainly don't have any suspects. HRAAB
Are they ok? Thankfully they had left the finish line area just before the explosions happened. They've been updating facebook. Guess the city has shut down cell service but they are updating via facebook and texting.

Momof3littles
Supposedly the PD has swatted down the Saudi national story. There's a strong possibility it is domestic due to the date and historical significance.
momma2three
Supposedly the PD has swatted down the Saudi national story. There's a strong possibility it is domestic due to the date and historical significance. That's what I fear, too. That it's a domestic terrorist who wants to make a point about gun control, so they set up these explosions right across from where the victim's families were seated :/

OH_Homeschooler
it's the new york post. its that "legit" enough for you? (and the link would take you to the NY Post site.) Well, it's not the New York Times. Isn't the New York Post basically a tabloid? And yes, I did go to the link so I knew exactly what the source was.
