ProudGrandma
What time do you normally start school in the morning? We try to start between 8:30-9...and I was wondering if I was in the norm or not.
Peela
It was always 8.30 for us. And get out of bed time was 7am. That left plenty of time for chores (and later, checking email!)

Lovedtodeath
We usually start around 11... but for a while we started at 8 and it is my goal to get back there. The day is so much longer.
Ellie
9ish. However long it took all of us to get up, get dressed, and have breakfast...that's when we started.

Tutor
Sometime between 9 and 10. Although I'd love to get my first grader finished between 8 and 9 so he only has a smattering of things do do afterwards and to get my older kids reading or something while they eat breakfast, but apparently they aren't morning people either. :001_smile:

JoyfulMama
Our time with dh is in the morning, and I try to shoo him away at 10am. Dd10 gets computer time if she starts her independent work before 9:30. (She often starts at 7, and is done by 8, which is when dh is coming home.) babysparkler
The kids usually start before I'm awake... around 7:00am when they wake up because they like to get a head start on the day... they officially start the day with Dh at 8am (elective class) and I start at 9am with them. Ali in OR
9:00 here. I get my special needs kid on the bus around 8:40. Sometimes we all do some quick cleaning chores between 8:40 and 9:00, but this winter the girls are still getting dressed and brushing teeth until we start school at 9:00. NanceXToo
It really varies. It could be 9 one day, 11 the next, 10 the next, not til after lunch the next day, and then we might sneak an 8:30 start in there. It depends how we're feeling, what's going on that day etc. We kind of go with the flow.
momofkhm
What time do you normally start school in the morning? We try to start between 8:30-9...and I was wondering if I was in the norm or not. There is no norm here. My son starts about 7 am, he gets up around 6. My oldest starts around 7:30/8. She gets up about 7/7:30. Middle daughter starts about 9. She doesn't lift her head from the pillow until at least 8. I get up anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 these days. It also means they end at different times.
Beach Mom
8:45 except on Mondays. On Mondays we start at 9:15 to allow some extra time for beginning of the week cleaning chores.
nukeswife
If my kids are awake before 10:30 am I start to wonder if they are ill, or maybe have a screw loose. LOL We usually start sometime around 11-11:

UmMusa
We start around 8:15 or 8:30. My DS9 gets up before 7, gets dressed, and starts his Saxon Math on his own. So, he gets a nice early start. We all get up around 7:00, eat, dress, have a short Islamic Studies lesson (read-aloud) at breakfast, then get to the school room around 8:30. Tabrett
Between 9 and 10. By the time I walk the dogs, do morning chores, make and eat breakfast and checking email it is 9 or later! PinkInTheBlue
Pretty much right on 10am pretty much every day. Our goal is to move that up to 9 or 9:30 starting tomorrow. No desire for making it earlier than 9 for us. We aren't early birds. :)

West Coast Mom
We start at 6:30 in the morning. It is the only way to clear a big chunk of work before the babies are up for the morning.
Dawn in OH
I like for us to start around 10, but I've been getting up pretty late lately. The two youngest boys and I have been sleeping in until 9. They are my alarm clocks. They both climb into be with me anywhere between 5 and 7 and go back to sleep. The two older kids get up and play until I make an appearance. I think I would fall over dead if they started on their school work on their own. katemary63
We are supposed to start at 8:00 a.m. We have a farm and have lots of afternoon and evening chores as well as fun things we want to do so we need to get our school done early! If school's not done, no trail ride! But...since I've been injured, I've been sleeping in later and we've been starting more like 9:00 a.m. After my surgery (and hopefully complete recovery!) we will be back on our 8:00 a.m. schedule. Desert Rat
School starts at 8. I have to work in the afternoons so I have to be pretty strict about that. Looking back, I wish I had been more relaxed about start times when I didn't have to work. :(
mazakaal
We used to start school with devotions between 9:15 and 9:45. Since I started doing devotions with the kids while they eat their breakfast before they get dressed, we're starting at around 8:45. After devotions they quickly get dressed, and then we're doing math by 9:15 at the outside.
jenn-
DD gets going between 7-730 before I crawl out of bed. The older boys start between 9-930, sometimes a little earlier if we have somewhere to be that morning. The youngest one is still very sporadic in days we do "school". Haiku
We start at 9:30. I have tried and tried to start earlier (and explained to the kids that the earlier we start, the earlier we finish), but dd9 simply can't do it. Every time I have forced her to get ready and start earlier has been a disaster, and I finally realized ... um, we homeschool, we can do it however we want! I don't have to feel like a failure because some people start at 7:30. :o ;) :D Tara
