  1. I found 25 of them here - http://www.youtube.com/user/horriblehistoriesBBC?feature=relchannel
  2. We are another Keen family here. After DS destroying shoes, we finally broke down and started buying Keen sandals. He wears them all year. We just put on SmartWool socks for the wintertime. He has a brown pair and a blue pair and they go with all his outfits (save for fancy occasions). If you shop at the off time of year, the Keen sandals can sometimes be found for around $30 versus the usual $60. We always keep the next 2 sizes up in his closet. DH only wears Keens and swears by them. He is a teacher and they are the only shoes that don't make his feet hurt by the end of the day.
  3. DS6 has the same problem. We have some major sensory issues and TKD plus piano for the past 15 months has improved things tremendously.
  4. We love the Daily Word Problem Books from Evan-Moor. DS tends to do a whole week in a day, but he has gotten really good at word problems and looks at them a "fun" math. :tongue_smilie:
  5. DS has been doing two languages simultaneously for the past year - both on Rosetta Stone. First, he started with Mandarin, then added Spanish. He is done with Mandarin and is now doing Spanish and French. We do Latin from other sources. He has not had a problem keeping things differentiated. In fact, he loves seeing all the commonalities between the languages.
  6. I'm using Horizons Pre-Algebra right now (have used Horizons from K onward). I like it as it introduces new concepts in very small chunks. DS has always liked the spiral approach with his math. Once finished, I feel that DS will have an excellent foundation for Algebra.
  7. Oh, I feel your pain RIGHT NOW! DS has lost the remote for the DVD player and we have looked everywhere. DH tried to reprogram the remote for the satellite so it would work the DVD player and now NOTHING will work. Steam is coming out of DH's ears. Two trips to Wally World for "Easy to Program" remotes has just caused more blue words and stomping of feet. To top if all off, DH had to have oral surgery today and wasn't in the best of moods to start with. I have sequestered myself in the other room and DS has gone to bed. Not a good way to end the day.
  8. You can buy a small cable that fits on the docking station and then attaches to the Touch without the Otterbox being removed. DH bought one on Ebay for about $7.00. Just make sure it says it will charge and send data through the cable to the docking station.
  9. Lunch for us is about 30 minutes. DS is allowed to listen to Brain Pop on his iTouch. Only time during the day that the iTouch may be used unless he is listening to music.
  10. DS chose to sort his my size (1x2, 2x2, etc.). We use one rolling cart like this http://www.wayfair.com/Early-Childhood-Resources-10-Drawer-Mobile-Organizer-ELR-009-NY1422.html?refid=GPA49-NY1422_5867958&PiID=5867958&gclid=CP771tnx3qwCFRFV7Aod_TMfDw. Each drawer is labeled. DS is a little OCD about his Legos and keeps them sorted quite well. It has worked for us.
  11. I got mine this morning. DS actually ran and met the UPS man at the top of driveway because he knows with my new Fire he gets my old Kindle  Haven't had much time to play with it, but I like what I see. DH ordered mine as a surprise gift :001_wub: so I am going to love it for no other reason than that one. The color is cool and I love that I can see the cover of the book versus just a list of book titles. I am a voracious reader so if I use it for nothing more than that, I will be happy. :001_smile:
  12. I just bought this one yesterday when getting my Advent candles. It is called A Family Advent - Keeping the Savior in the Season. Publisher is Thomas Nelson.
  13. I put mine in the crockpot with whole cloves, whole allspice, cinnamon sticks and about 1/2 cup brown sugar. Tastes wonderful!
  14. has been shipped and should arrive tomorrow!
  15. We do Rosetta Stone for Mandarin and Spanish - each program is 45 minutes a day - every day. DS has just started Sing Song Latin so it is quick and painless :D .
  16. A birthday invitation (not addressed to DS)! Very strange indeed. Apparently, the invitations were given out to all the trick or treaters, regardless of age . The little girl who is having the birthday is only going to be 5.
  17. BTDT at our house a few weeks ago. DH had come in from taking the garbage to the curb (it was close to midnight) and upon coming in, looked across the kitchen floor and thought, "Gosh, that dead banana peel wasn't there when I took out the garbage." Dead banana peel turned out to be a baby copperhead. DH almost :svengo:! He is deathly afraid of snakes. That little bugger decided to go hide behind some cabinets that were against the wall. After almost an hour, we finally got him out. I was just glad that DS was asleep or we would have been hearing him saying, "SCIENCE EXPERIMENT!"
  18. I have a miniscule place for shoes (I want the IKEA shoe thingy but just don't have a space for it as we have glass panels next to our door). I finally landed on this shoe tree (http://www.amazon.com/Whitney-Design-2131-18-Pair-Revolving/dp/B0002TG2HO) and it has worked so well. I got mine at Wally World.
  19. We have buried several of our chihuahuas over the years. We always wrap them in a blanket and then put them in a shoebox. Dig the hole deep (as pps have said.) We also put in a layer of charcoal in the bottom of the hole and them over the top of the box before putting the dirt back in the hole. Our vet told us to do this as the charcoal absorbs the decomposing odor and thus, keeps away other animals. :grouphug: to your family.
  20. I got a Keurig for Christmas last year. I only drink a cup of coffee a day (and sometimes none). The instant hot water is wonderful for hot cocoa, hot tea, instant noodles/soups/etc. Just this week DS came down with a horrible cold and I made him drink tea with honey all day for three days. It was so nice that the tea was always fresh and hot. The K-Cup came with mine, but I didn't like it (spewed coffee everywhere). I use the EkoBrew Cup (http://www.amazon.com/ekobrew-Refillable-K-Cup-Keurig-Brewers/dp/B0051SU0OW) and it is wonderful. I do have a collection of K-Cups that I get at JPenney or Kohls. They tend to send me a free $10 coupon about every six weeks and I apply that toward my K-Cups - thus getting about 18 cups for $3.00 (like 16 cents a cup). When our Keurig goes, we will buy another to replace it.
  21. If they are on a certain type of dimmer switch, it will make them flicker. BTDT :tongue_smilie:
  22. I've had both - UHC for several years and now we are with Cigna. No problems with either one.
