Uh Oh...Dr Called

Recommended Posts

Just got off the phone with my GP.

Good news is, u/s was fine, baby Joshua looks perfect.

My lab results, however, are not. I have to go in at 3 pm to discuss it, and apparently, he wants more tests, but I have no clue right now what's wrong.

Crap.

Obviously, my first concern is baby is born safely. I asked if the pregnancy was at risk, and he repeated that baby looked perfect.

After that, I don't want to risk out of having a midwife. I FINALLY have one, darn it. I don't need any complications. RSD is enough to deal with.

I wish he'd have just coughed up what the problem(s) were rather than make me wait 4 hrs! :glare:

I hope that whatever it is, is easily fixable.

Me too. I'm more than a little freaked.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a kidney issue. The hospital suspected a kidney stone. The pain meds I've been on can effect kidney and liver function.

Whatever it is, I'm praying that it doesn't effect carrying Joshua to term, and doesn't risk me out of having a midwife attended birth.

Thanks everyone.

Also occurred to me that I might have Celiac's. My mother does, and I've noticed I can't eat wheat anymore without a strong physical reaction.

I don't *want* Celiac's, don't get me wrong, but it wouldn't compromise my pregnancy if that's the case, and as much as I've come to LOATHE gluten free everything, I'd rather deal w/it than impaired kidney/liver function.

I hope it all goes well. The 'I need to see you in person to talk about it' calls are never fun to get.

I'm going to be having a wee chat with him about that.

Tell me what's going on, don't leave me scared and in limbo. I'll still come in for the darn appt, but at least I could be spending my time learning about whatever the issues may be, preparing questions, etc, rather than walking in frightened and blind.:glare:

Yep, a "wee chat" is in order for sure! That is completely unfair for a care provider to do! Hoping for a good update from you later...

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:it's encouraging that the baby is doing fine, but it's really awful you have to wait to see what he's talking about. Please keep us posted. How far along are you now? I'm sorry.....I forget.

21 wks. I thought it was 21 last wk, apparently I can't read my calendar properly :o

What I didn't like was when I specifically asked if the pregnancy was in danger, he repeated that the u/s was great. *He* might consider that an answer, but I don't. I was looking for a straight yes or no, obviously no being preferred.

Prayers, and let us know!

Maybe it's gestational diabetes. Sometimes that happens with subsequent pregnancies and the obnoxious category of "advanced maternal age" (aka pregnant after 35), even if you haven't had it with previous pregnancies. That can very often be managed with diet and exercise and though inconvenient, it's manageable.

We'll be thinking about you and J until we hear back. "Be strong and courageous..."

Consider yourself hugged!:grouphug::grouphug:

Trying to think on the lighter side of things, maybe twins? :)

I think sometimes doctors need that extra time to prepare themselves by researching and wheedling out a lot of information that we would otherwise drive ourselves crazy with!

The 2 urine tests I had Friday showed blood, one showed protien, neither had sugar.

Nope, not twins for sure!

Bumping and hoping everything is okay!! :grouphug:

When I had my MFM Dr. call me about my lab results, he made an appt to see me next day as well. The only thing i got was that one result was high, but he too, didn't tell me what was wrong. But the waiting always ends at some point. Hope your Dr. explains everything to you & all is well.

I think doctors hate us being pre-prepared - they don't like us chatting to "Dr Google" before them!

I hope it all goes well.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers.

I'd appreciate if you'd keep them coming. Pray that the test results are wrong.

I just can't get into it right now. I'm getting tests redone after meeting with the specialist. I'm praying its all just a big mistake.

Joshua is fine. I may not be. Am not, if the test results are right.

Pray for a mistake. For a miracle.

Really just devestated, in shock right now.
