MeaganS Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Tutors. 😀 I'm actually pretty happy with what I have. I might buy more supplementary materials and extracurriculars. Edited August 25, 2016 by Meagan S 9 Quote
Jackie Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Honestly, I really love what we use, so I wouldn't change any of it. But we do a lot of interest-based units, and those can take *hours* to put together. I'd really like a little fairy who perfectly understands my child's wants, abilities, and interests, and prepared awesome units for me. And I'd love to hire a driver to take my kid to all her out of the house stuff so I don't have to. 1 Quote
Arcadia Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Tutors, or more accurately mentors. Curriculum regardless how perfect have to be tweak to my individual child's need. Quote
Sk8ermaiden Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I love the programs I use, but there are a million hands-on, enrichment-y things that I always have to talk myself out of. Like, "Kellie, if you were going to have 30 schoolkids every year, you could justify buying that stuff. But for only two, it's a bad decision." Yeah. I'd buy all that stuff. 1 Quote
Vida Winter Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Honestly, I love what I am using. If I had a personal chef it would be much easier to do a better job. 7 Quote
kiwik Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Beast academy, AOPS courses. Maybe other on line stuff. 1 Quote
.... Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Moving Beyond the Page. We tried one of their units once and it was perfect for my kids. It's so far out of our price range, though. It's ridiculous what they charge. Quote
freesia Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I, too, am happy with the curriculum we use. I would, however, love to have more money for extracurricular activities and to outsource a couple more classes. 1 Quote
razzles Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 If money was no object I'd pay someone to do all the housework and cooking, as well as someone to play with my toddlers while I focussed on homeschooling my oldest. I'm not sure if I'd spend any more on homeschooling curriculum, but I would have the time and energy to do more hands on projects and science experiments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3 Quote
Runningmom80 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I'd just like more money for travel. 3 Quote
TX Native Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Like others, I would keep what we are using, which is very cheap. I would add outside art instruction, a cleaning service, more symphonies, some travel, and more sports. Oh, I would like to buy the orignal prints of the artists we study. 😉 Edited August 25, 2016 by TX native 2 Quote
TX Native Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Now if time were no object, that would open a whole new can of worms as to what I would add. Edited August 25, 2016 by TX native 3 Quote

jjeepa Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) I like what we're using, but would LOVE more $ to supplement and add depth by buying books, and books, and books! :drool5: Yes, the thought makes me drool! ETA: great, and beautiful, books of course Edited August 25, 2016 by jjeepa 1 Quote

Aurelia Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Curriculum-wise, probably Landry Academy or WTM Academy classes. Maybe a couple of Oak Meadow high school classes with the teacher feedback. I think the Timberdoodle curriculum packages look pretty neat, though I don't know that I would want to use the whole thing. I'm getting to the point where I have to start I have to start looking at high school courses :scared: and those are expensive. Quote
Ariston Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'd buy all the Beast Academy books just to have around for the kids to look through. Also all of Beautiful Feet levels. And I'd pay for frequent skype language lessons. Quote
SnMomof7 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I would hire aides for my kids to keep them on track with emotional regulation and help reinforcing basic life skills with my developmentally delayed kids. Quote

ikslo Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I just want a self-contained science lab with a gaseous and chemical fire-suppression and exhaust system, and a chemical eye wash station, to get that subject out of my kitchen/off my table. One with all the latest technology and a virtual science teacher. Oh, and I would pay Critterfixer a FT teacher salary just to teach my child to write. :D 3 Quote
vaquitita Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 If money wasn't an issue I'd want: a housekeeper, personal chef, a lovely school room, and a foreign language tutor. In that order. :) But I'm cheating because I have $2k per kid per year from our charter school for curriculum and classes. ;) But I don't think that my curriculum for elementary would be much different if we weren't with the charter. I currently buy our LA programs anyway because they won't. I certainly would have tried less things, but that might have been a good thing. :D Since I've come full circle and am back to mostly where I started. The things I wouldn't be doing that I would then wish I had money for would be the same except add music lessons. Quote
................... Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Outsourcing locally, which is exactly what we are doing. :) so thankful and blessed for this help this year. 1 Quote
UCF612 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm happy with our choices but I'd invest in way more stuff for hands on and we'd do more trips to to see things up close. Quote
Catalytic Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'd go with a private teacher or governess, as well. There are curricula I avoid not because I *can't* afford them, but because I refuse to pay that much. Quote
Vida Winter Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Interestingly, this thread has made me realize that simplifying and streamlining my cooking and household would greatly enhance my homeschool. The curriculum is fine as is. 2 Quote
sweetpea3829 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 ALL THE CURRICULUM!!!! Seriously...money's no object? I'd want them all...lol. Cataloged and indexed in a warehouse, easy to search through, and a personal assistant that I can call on as needed. Me: "Buffy...Junior here needs some depth in his decimal studies. Please go find me all relevant materials..." I suppose that would all be overkill. How would I ever decide which one to use? 4 Quote
sweetpea3829 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 (For sure though...I'd be buying everybody their own darn workbooks. Because unbinding them, three-hole punching them, using dry erase pockets and wet erase markers, refiling the pages, etc...all of that is SUCH a time dump for me). 1 Quote
Tumbatoo Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I might send them to private school! I already find ways to purchase the curricula that works best, even if pricey. The only thing I had held off on is the Life of Fred series. I might buy those to have on hand and go through at our leisure. And, Artistic Pursuits. Art tends to take a backseat. Quote
Heatherwith4 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 After the way this week has gone, I would say private school! :) Normally, I would say curriculum that meant I wouldn't have to make copies or write worksheets up myself. A housekeeping service. A drop-off science program. And more money for travel. Quote
Dmmetler Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 A school that meets DD's needs, with expert teachers and peers. Homeschooling, for DD, isn't really what she wants, but is the best we can do. 1 Quote
Shoes+Ships+SealingWax Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 I have an only child working on K level, so we haven't made many of the big multi-year purchases yet. What I would get with unlimited funds: Compound Microscope Stereo/Dissection Microscope Microscope Digital Camera Collection of Slides Light Panel Collection of X-rays Half-Day Forest School Tuition Foreign Language Tutor Suzuki Piano Teacher Year-Round Swim Lessons A massive number of books... 1 Quote
madteaparty Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 A certain private school for which you basically need documented demigod status to be considered. So I suppose money wouldn't be enough... 3 Quote

mohop Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 a governess. Yup. Going back to work full-time and hiring a full-time nanny/governess has crossed my mind from time to time. Quote
regentrude Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 (edited) A private school for gifted students. I homeschool because of a lack of schooling options. We did a pretty good job, but nowhere near what a good school with qualified teachers could have accomplished. Edited August 27, 2016 by regentrude 1 Quote
Janeway Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Now that I think about it, since I spend more time reading their books and enjoying them than they do, I would send them to private school and I would sit at home reading all the great books I purchase anyway! LOL 2 Quote
StartingOver Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) A Chef, a driver, a sitter, Latin and Spanish tutors, and Every Latin program ever made. I can't believe I forgot a maid. LOL Happy with our curriculum. Edited August 28, 2016 by StartingOver Quote
