Three babies here and never been able to wear my wedding rings last the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy. With my first I even tried to find a cheap fake ring to wear for a while because I was self-conscious about looking very young AND not wearing my wedding rings. My hair has never looked that good, let alone just hours after delivering a baby! Her dress is beautiful, and she looks radiant! I've never been sick; I just don't gain much weight, and what I do gain is only in my belly, not face or anywhere. No IV either, since I've also not had a hospital birth. And no tearing; I've never been anything but a little sore afterward, but even steps weren't terrible. Honestly, I looked really good after several of my births, although not as polished as Kate, given that I don't have her team. I do know that I've been lucky in those respects, but it is possible. Kate looked lovely, and I hope the new family of four had a good first night together and that mama and baby are resting comfortably. I know when George was born, her hairdresser went to the hospital, so I imagine it was the same with this new one. When I left the hospital I did so with my hair & makeup done, I don't think it's really a big deal - it took me no more than 30 minutes for shower, hair & makeup. It's not really a big deal. It was a reference to some of the other comments I'd seen other places about how some moms were all puffy from the IV during labor, and why didn't Kate look like that? Well, because not all moms get IV fluids during birth. But it really didn't have anything to do with those of you who have been so sick during pregnancy; I'm sorry if it came off that way. All I can think is that the LAST thing I would have wanted to wear 10 hours after giving birth is a pair of pantyhose. The postpartum bleeding yuckiness and pantyhose? Maybe now it's out of the way and she can go home and hide for a few weeks. I have not taken my wedding rings off since the day I married at 19. At this point, they are a part of my body and you'd have to break the band to get them off bc my knuckle bones are too big for them to come over. I feel bad that she has to be under so much public scrutiny so soon after having a baby. I hope she gets to be pampered and rest and recover now. I couldn't wear rings or even my normal shoes before and for a while after my older DD was born. Tap Posted May 3, 2015 Share Posted May 3, 2015 Depends on the person. I never had a problem with my rings fitting. At may lowest or my highest weights, pregnant or not. They fit just fine. I was 22yo and under 120lbs when I got married, wore them all the way through delivery at 160lbs. 20 years later, now I weigh 145 without pregnancy, and I tried them on a month ago and they still fit just the same. (I haven't wore my rings in 10 years due to a lost stone, but ran across them in my jewelry box and showed them to dd who was sitting there. ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Joker Posted May 3, 2015 Share Posted May 3, 2015 I never had to remove my rings while pregnant either. I was horribly ill and had preterm labor with my first. I spent most of the time in the hospital on an IV and at home on bed rest but I never had issues with my fingers swelling. I had natural births without inductions but I was always given a heavy dose of pitocin after birth to control bleeding. It worked really well as my bleeding was never heavier than a period and lasted just a couple of weeks. My second i swelled up like a giant sausage butthey fit after birth.
