BikeBookBread
Ours is off  The latent temperature is 73 in our house right now, which seems warm (I grew up in chilly Seattle and our home was kept at 68). No way am I putting on the AC right now. In the summer, we keep it at 72...it;s just too hard to recover the interior temp when it is 115 outside! Cera
74 during the day and 70 at night. I would keep it lower at night but we don't have any heat (Hawaii). If it gets too cold overnight there is no way to warm the house back up except opening windows and the weather can be wet and cool this time of year. LauraGB
Usually its either 68 or 69 in the winter.
Mrs Mungo
I generally have my a/c off during the day and open the windows if we need the breeze. It's set at 72 at night. It was 82 here today. Edited December 17, 2009 by Mrs Mungo
joannqn
68 during the day 64 at night We have no air conditioning so summer varies depending on the weather. It is often cooler outside.
Amy loves Bud
We keep it at 70 or 71 during the day, 66 at night. However, Bud took the kids away for a couple of days so I could have some alone time, and I bumped it up to 73 a while ago. I'm always cold in the winter and usually have to bundle up in the house. I'm such a cheater!
mlgbug
65, if im luck 67. its below freezing here in ny. we just can afford to have it warmer. if we r cold, wear a sweater :)
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
It's 68 during the day and programmed to drop down to 62 after 10 pm when we are supposed to be snug in our beds. It's programmed to "warm" back up to 68 beginning at 5 am. I'm cold-blooded and run around in fleece and wool socks. My kids run around in shorts and sweats - barefoot! Jennifer in MI
Wow! I feel cheap! We have ours set at 60. At night it goes down to 56. We wear layers - turtleneck and sweater or sweatshirt. If we're just sitting around, we'll throw on a blanket too. At night, again, layers! It's worth it. Our gas/electric bill is VERY low!!! VA6336
70 during the day (with the occasional bump up to 72 when my blood is running cold), 68 at night when we're supposed to be in bed. I'd turn it down lower at night, but my husband won't hear of it. He's the wimp!
peachskittles
It's set at 70, all day...If I remember, I'll bump it down to 65 at night...With all the bedrooms upstairs, it gets quite warm at 70 up there, to the point I don't even need a blanket... forty-two
62. I was feeling pretty cheap 'till I read about the person who keeps it at 60 daytime/56 nighttime - my hat's off to you! We wear long sleeves, pants, and socks, but just one layer.

We wear long sleeves, pants, and socks, but just one layer. Heehee. That's me. I gotta' say. I did this gradually. I kept decreasing it by one degree for a couple days. Then, I'd decrease it again. This is the lowest I could get it without complaints. I figure, it's winter!! We should be chilly and we should wear sweaters!
Daisy
68 during the day (rarely comes on) 65 at night. In the summer, we set it at 80 degrees (still 20-35 degrees cooler than outside).

Jen in PA
68 during the day, 62 at night while I'm under the electric blanket. And even at 68 I wear socks, slippers, and sweaters around the house and have ice-cold hands. My dc never seem to get cold -- it's hard to convince them to keep their clothes on no matter how cold the house is.
Kari C in SC
67, but I do use the fireplace to warm up the main living area during the day sometimes. The rest of the house gets colder, but we are pretty much only in this area during the day.
Caitilin
We keep it set at about 67, all the time. However, my mother used to keep the house at 55 at night--and turn it up to 58 when she got up in the morning. In South Dakota! In the winter!! **shiver!!**
Amira
64 during the day, 56 at night (although it rarely gets that cold). The first time we were in law school, we did 60 degrees during the day in a much colder city than we live in now. I don't think I could do that again. meet me in paris
Put me in the "cheapo" category. 62 during the day and 55 at night. We have a big old house and just cannot afford to keep it warmer. The saving grace is that we have a nice warm fireplace in our kitchen, and that's where we school, eat, and spend most of our time, so we stay warm. elise1mds
I need to get my husband to read this. He thinks I'm awful for having the thermostat set at 68 degrees 24/7. It's at 78 during the summer and he gripes about that, too. I should tell him to suck it up or I'll send him to live elsewhere!
melissel
We've been keeping at 68 pretty much constantly, which is actually quite low for us. I'm actively trying to conserve this year for the first time. If I'm home alone or if the kids and I are moving around a lot, I'll turn it down to 65. When DH is home, he won't let it go lower than 68--maaaaybe 67. I can't really complain, because he's a tropical kind of guy and hates the cold. I, in turn, get mean and nasty and queasy in even moderate heat, so I'll be struggling to keep cool in here come June! I'm cold-blooded and run around in fleece and wool socks. My kids run around in shorts and sweats - barefoot! Here too! I was so worried about the kids being cold at night' date=' I bought DD7 these heavy fleece pajamas, and she's been complaining about sweating at night. Their rooms are the coldest in the house, too! During the day I'll be on the couch, bundled into a big blanket, and they'll be running around in their underwear playing beach party  Wow! I feel cheap! We have ours set at 60. At night it goes down to 56. We wear layers - turtleneck and sweater or sweatshirt. If we're just sitting around, we'll throw on a blanket too. I wish I could do this, but I feel so constricted in sweaters lately. I never used to feel that way, but now I feel like I'm being smothered! I'm weird, I know... Melora in NC
60 during the day, 58 at night. BUT we have a gas fireplace in the school room and I keep that room at around 64-65 while we are using it!
Julpost
We keep it at 60 all the time. We're in Northern Vermont and it gets pretty frigid. But we have a woodstove that really heats up the house during the day. I've never kept the thermostat set this low before so I'm excited to see the difference in our electricity and oil use. I pretty much live in wool and layers, with my Ugg-imitation boots on all the time. I love it!! I try to see how long we can go before we turn on the heat and we actually got into the first week of December this year. It's my own personal game. I must be easily amused.:)
I talk to the trees
65 during the day, 60 at night. If we're cold, we drink tea or cocoa, or grab a throw. -Robin
JoyfulMama
Thermostat is set to 65 during the day, and 62 from 9pm-6am. But we have a nice fireplace that we burn in almost every day, and that keeps the first floor usually at about 67-68 during the day. (There's no other heat source in that room.) By 10pm I'm the only one awake, so I cover up, whether I'm in bed or not.
sparrow
We have a 6 zone boiler heating system in our home. We keep the living/kitchen/dining zone at 66-68 throughout the day, 60 at night. Bedroom/bathroom zones are kept at 60 all the time. The other zones are essentially "off" (basement, laundry room, garage). This system was installed a year before we bought our house. We absolutely love it and it saves us a ton of $$.

creekland
Our house is generally around 54 when I wake up in the morning and turn on the heat. If it gets over 62 we turn it back off. That only happens when the weather outside reaches the 40's. Most of the time we hover around 60 once the house heats up. We also only heat 3 rooms downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs. Going between the two is rather chilly. Our reason is to save money - and it does that. We wear long sleeved shirts covered with sweatshirts and have lap blankets for when we're just sitting around. I also am fortunate enough to have a lap cat that loves sitting with me. Occasionally someone else can snag one of the other cats. Ideally I'd snowbird to Hawaii, but finances are rather limiting. nukeswife
I would freeze to death in most of your houses LOL. We keep ours at 72 day and night. I can't sleep if I'm cold. On our recent trip to my in-laws I actually cried myself to sleep the first night because I was so cold and couldn't sleep (When I get to tired I cry). They keep it at 66, and I was wearing sweat pants, a tshirt, sweatshirt and socks all while covered by 2 blankets and a comforter.
Kim in Appalachia
today was so cold I turned it up to 67. When it's get very cold out you can feel it through the walls. I could not get warm, despite my layers. At night we keep it at 56, so the pipes don't freeze.
mom2jjka
68 during the day (but on 'below zero' days I'll occasionally give it a bump to 70 for an hour or so - just to warm us up) At night it's programmed to 64.
3byzaz
I was sure I would win the cheap award! It is at 66...up from 65 last year. But, that is in the warmest room of the house - my bedroom is like a meat locker - the heat doesn't make it back there. I am ALWAYS freeeeezzzing though. I hate the cold!!! I would like to keep it higher, but our house is not ducted well and it would be on all the time. 2 years ago, our gas bill was almost $300.00...with it at like 68 or 69. And, this is in AZ!!! Crissy
62 during the day, 58 at night.
