Free Indeed
I was just wondering if you and your husband (or wife) have a song and what is it? :bigear: My song to my husband has always been a song by David Allan Coe. Here are the lyrics: Pledging my Love Forever my darling my love will be true Always and forever I’ll love only you Just promise me darling Your love in return May this fire in my soul dear Forever burn My heart's at your command dear To keep, love and to hold Making you happy's my desire loving you is my goal I'll Forever love you for the rest of my days I’ll never part from you or your loving ways I can think of several songs that fit our love better now, but this has been my song to him from the very beginning. So what about you?
Melanie
My husband and I went without a song for a long time. After we'd been dating for about a year, we were sitting in Pizza Hut (hey, we were in high school) one night and the topic came up. We decided the next song to play on the jukebox would be our song. Well. It was "Chitlin' Time." I don't know who sang it, but I remember this line: Feelin' good, Feellin' fine, It's chitlin time! We laughed till we cried. Cricket
Not officially, but dh sang Michael Card's song "Arise, My Love" at our wedding before I walked down the aisle. You don't really hear that on the radio though. The Dixie Chicks song "Cowboy Take Me Away" will always make me think of dh. That song was popular a few years after we met and got married. He was a cowboy and he did take me to a place where we were miles and miles away from anyone else. We spent a summer up in the mountains of Idaho, 30 miles from the nearest town of 300 people. 3lilreds in NC
: It was "Chitlin' Time." :smilielol5::smilielol5: We kind of have a song. Steven Curtis Chapman has a song called "Go There With You." Dh played it for me one time, basically telling me that he would support me in my journey to grad school or whatever came as we were preparing to get married. It was so sweet. Sadly, he has no recollection of giving me the song. I will take a heart whose nature is to beat for me alone Fill it up with you, make all your joy and pain my own No matter how deep a valley you go through, I will go there with you I will give myself to love, the way Love gave itself for me Climb with you to mountain tops or swim a raging sea To the place where one heart is made from two I will go there with you... Such a lovely song.:001_wub:

That tells you what a heathen I was back in the day. ;) I was a drinkin', smokin', cussin', redneck girl with an attitude. Boy has the Lord really changed me. I can't even tell kids stories from my past because most all of them are not G rated, even when I was young. But that song reminds me of our love and where the Lord has brought me from. I still like a few David Allan Coe songs- namely "You never even called me by my name" :D

Parrothead
Elaine, I love your quote by Regan. As for songs, dh and I don't have one. One of my bridesmaids sang a song at our wedding, but I don't remember what it was. I know, that is bad, but in my defense I was a very hands-off bride. I had too many other things going on at the time and told dh's mom to handle things how she wanted. I only had say-so on my dress, bridal procession song (Ava Maria), flower colors and the cake. Everything else I left up to MIL.

Daisy
Be My Life's Companion sung by the Mills Brothers Want no silver threads among the gold. Want no silver threads among the gold. Want no silver threads; want some action instead. Want no silver threads among the gold. Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old. I'll love you so much that you'll never grow old. When there's joy in living, you just never grow old. You've got to stay young, 'cause you'll never grow old. People who are lonely are old at 33. Don't let it happen to you; don't let it happen to me. Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old. You'll never grow old, no, you'll never grow old. Love and youth and happiness are yours to have and hold. Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old. I know a man who's lonely, and he's old at 33. No one wants to be old at 33. Your disposition sours like a lemon on a tree. Don't let it happen to you, and don't let it happen to me. Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old. Yes, I'll love you so much that you'll never grow old. Love and youth and happiness are yours to have and hold. Be my life's companion, be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old. OnTheBrink
I Will Be Here, by Steven Curtis Chapman. Now it's this (well, my song to him, anyway; figuratively speaking) "I Survived You" I see the picture clear now, the fog has lifted. The wool you tried to pull over my eyes was clever. Yeah you're gifted. But you forgot to dot some I's, and cross some T's along the way. I'm better now despite you baby. I'm stronger these days. Stronger. [Chorus:] I survived the crash. Survived the burn. Survived the worst, yeah baby, but I learned. Survived the lies. Survived the blues. Almost killed me, but I survived the truth. And when you wrote me off like I was doomed. I survived you. I can look in the mirror now. It's been a slow awakening. Haunted by a heart full of you, couldn't help mistaking. That you could ever care for anyone. Anyone but yourself. Hey. But you would have to have a conscience baby. Good luck I wish you well. [Chorus] I survived the crash. Survived the burn. Survived the worst, yeah baby, but I learned. Survived the lies. Survived the blues. Almost killed me, but I survived the truth. And when you wrote me off like I was doomed. I survived you. This heart has been torn in two. Cut and bruised. With too many bitter endings. I'll be ****ed if I have thoughts of you Rain on my new beginning. [Chorus] I survived the crash. Survived the burn. Survived the worst, yeah baby, but I learned. Survived the lies. Survived the blues. Almost killed me, but I survived the truth. And when you wrote me off like I was doomed. I survived the crash. Survived the burn. Survived the worst, yeah baby, but I learned. Survived the lies. Survived the blues. Almost killed me, but I survived the truth. And when you wrote me off like I was doomed. I survived you. SWB Yep, our song is very much along these lines. We have two songs, actually. For the last 26 years dh has been singing this to me: "Oh, Lord, it's hard to be humble when you're perfect in every way....." (meaning himself!) The other has become our family's theme song: "On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again" as we have moved waayy too many times, each time farther and farther away from family, so to visit we have get 'on the road again', or we are on the road moving, or now.....on the road visiting grown dc at their homes or at college.
