  1. We belong to an underground society. Someone who knows the secret knock drew us out.
  2. I wonder if a picture of booKs violates copyright laws? Or maybe just taste level? :biggrinjester:
  3. SWB, I am so terribly sorry to read this! I looked through my attachments and the only thing that came up was a personal picture that we took of our dog. If anyone finds the thread with all of the Russell Crowe pictures in it, please report it! (I kinda love him, lol) I have not really been around since 2008, I just came back to try to help. Thank-you, Susan, for all that you do.
  4. Thank-you all!! This has been so helpful. I think that I was a little overzealous in the things that we would like to see. I forget how big Australia really is! :-) :tongue_smilie: We are planning on going in two years, so I do have time to plan. I knew that it would be very expensive, and that's fine. Now I can safely assume that we will need at least $20K, and we have already begun to save. I really appreciate you all taking the time to answer and I will look into all of the things that have been mentioned. :D
  5. Really, Rosie? Why is that? I assumed, most likely out of ignorance, that a package would be a good thing. We want to go see all of the main sights, Great Barrier Reef, Syndey, the Outback and whatever else we can find. We are not looking for a 5 star hotel experience, just the outdoor Australia experience. We will most likely have a budget of $15K.
  6. Have you been? Did you do a package trip? Or if you live there can you give me any insider information that might be helpful? We are not looking for a big, fancy hotel, just a place to sleep. We care more about the experience. Thanks in advance for any input!
  7. I would say that Ocean Grove is your best bet. Yes, you have to pay to get on the beach:glare:, but you do not have to pay to park. (OG is $7 for adults, children 12 and under are free.) You *can* pay to park, but sometimes you get stuck parking far away even in the pay lot. You have a good chance of getting a relatively close spot on the road for free if you go during the week. I'm sorry, I don't know the parking price as I have issues with pay to park and never utilize it. lol There is a lovely little main street with shops and bakeries and an absolutely fabulous ice cream shop called Nagele's. I highly recommend the cherry vanilla.;) Avon is also nice and so are Point Pleasant and Manasquan. I will warn you though, the traffic in those particular shore towns is a nightmare on the weekends, during the week should be fine. J Jenkinson's is in Point Pleasant and tends to be family friendly during the day. There is a lovely little aquarium on Jenkinson's, too. Here is a link in case you want to check it out. Stay away from Seaside Heights and Asbury Park. :001_smile: Hope this helps.
  8. Thank-you! I have recently discovered Christian Light for my younger son, but have not even looked for my HS-er.
  9. It is like a slap in the face, that short deliberation time. They should have looked more closely at the evidence.
  10. Oh, my! I was thinking the same thing when I heard the verdict!
  11. I agree with this, and I believe that she regularly drugged Caylee. Nanny Zanny? That is a drug reference to Xanax. It is very possible that she drugged her with Xanax, and then gagged her with the tape and chloroform case she woke up. I believe that killing her was an accident, but that does not make her any less culpable.
  12. Ritalin Free Kids by Robert Ullman. We tried the adderall route and knew that it was not the answer. We decided to go homeopathic instead, and have seen amazing results. Read his book, you will be amazed.:001_smile: Good luck!
  13. I would rather bite the bullet and have it cost a fortune to be done with the whole system. It will be cheaper in the long run. I personally feel that the government should not be in the business of supplying, or bearing the responsibility to supply food for its people. Control the food and you control the people. As to who would set the criteria? Well, it would not be politicians who could use their ability to help or not help as an election platform. It should be an outside company. Conduct it like the DMV. Now, as to the military families who can't afford food. I say- disgusting. Any president, congressman, senator or elected official that cut the military budget should be drawn and quartered. I cannot imagine anything more inhumane that volunteering to serve your country and then have your family suffer because of it. The military wives that have posted in this thread have my utmost respect and this post is in no way, shape or form directed at them in a disparaging way. They, of course, would not be in my reapply category.
  14. Cheryl, You are not a bad person. I have agreed with nearly everything that you have posted in this rather long and cantankerous thread. The bottom line is this: personal responsibility. You clearly know what that means, and many others don't. I don't care if someone buys soda with food stamps. My bigger issue is if they actually need the food stamps. You can't legislate that people purchase and consume healthy food, it is just common sense to eat nutrient rich food. But you can decide who receives the benefits. If I had my druthers all aid would stop and everyone would need to re-apply, and us tax paying citizens would get to decide who was able or not to benefit from government handouts of our tax money. But that's just me. A horrible, greedy, evil, judgmental, capitalist loving pig. And, Wow! Just, wow! See, I did it for you. ;)
  15. :iagree: We have been encouraging our boys to choose blue collar jobs over white ones for this very reason. Our family is made up of very successful blue collar business owners. I would be extremely proud to day that my son is a plumber.:D
  16. First time high schooler here! :001_smile: I am plugging along choosing our courses for next year.
  17. I love both the book and the movie. C.Thomas Howell is currently working on the TV show "Southland," it is one of our favorite shows on TV right now. (It was slated to be canceled, but received salvation. YaY!) Howell plays Dooley, a beat cop who is a recovering alcoholic. His character on the show is the polar opposite of Ponyboy Curtis, so if you watch Southland, and I highly recommend that you do, be prepared to adjust your perception of him. :001_smile:
  18. And see, now you have judged me based on my comment, complete with the famous WTM "Wow." I wasn't judging the child or the parent, but having seen the other side of the behavior of children and parents like the ones described in this situation, in my experience, it is safe to assume that it does not end well. I stand by my statement. Parents need to discipline their out of control children. And, if they are being disciplined at home, behavior like this is rarely seen outside of the home.
  19. I have got to go to bed. Night-night!
  20. Are you insane? Oh, you're a lib, you are! I miss these crazy interactions with you.:D We have to go out for ice cream again.
  21. I am thrilled that Osama is dead! Believe me. 9/11 happened in my backyard, it was very personal. It is not political. It is about Bill playing the "stop saying mean things" card to end dissenting opinions about anything that he does not agree with.
