What is it with women we have to watch a movie to get it out of our system anyway?

No fair.

Is "Life is Beautiful" a winner? Keeps coming up when I google.

It's tragic, for sure. I didn't see it. I can't do Holocaust movies.

But you will cry!

(I do know some people have been angered by it. There is some controversy. It would be a spoiler to tell you why.)

I watched a documentary earlier this year called..."The Way We Get By" about the Bangor Maine troop greeters.

That was a highly emotional flick. I completely lost my noodles on that one.

Buckets of tears. Buckets.

I might jump back to that as a standby. Took me about four hours to recover.

We have till Monday to plot this out. Keep the ideas coming.

Tissue recommendations?

I can't use those lotion embedded kind, they leave a white ring around my nose. Very embarrassing. :blushing:

I've never seen any of the Holocaust movies ever.

Our family background is military and I am not sure I wouldn't crack up forever.

Life is Beautiful will certainly make you cry. Watch it with subtitles though; it loses something in English, IMHO.

I also always cry at:

Steel Magnolias

Hope Floats

Blind Side

Patriot

.......of course I also cry at random children's movies. Hm, on second thought I may not be the right person to ask!

ETA- Tears of the Sun, Cowboy, Hotel Rowanda, and Second Hand Lions always get me too.

It doesn't take much to get me crying during a movie, but I love

The Notebook

I am Sam (I love Sean Penn in this...when he tells the foster mom he can't do it by himself, I die every time I watch it)

The Lake House

and then if you want more of a sad cry, not a sappy cry I like

Schindlers List

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (although the book made me cry even more)

Sophies Choice

The Road (but read the book first...very creepy)

You gals are so experienced, I lead a very sheltered life.

I found a decent lotion that doesn't burn when applied to a sore nose. It's crabtree and evelyn's gardener's hand therapy. So, if you don't want tissues to hurt your honker....

Back to subject: Les Miserables for one. Hereafter was fairly sad. A Beautiful Mind.

These (and many others I just can't think of right now) make me cry:

Steel Magnolias

Step Mom

The Notebook

A Walk to Remember

Dear John

Fireproof

Time Traveler's Wife

Awakenings

Untamed Heart

Pearl Harbor

8 Seconds

Old Yeller

Where the Red Fern Grows

These make me cry in a much more disturbed way:

Schindler's List

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (very good, but very hard to watch)

Passion of the Christ

I like your list but I really hated The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

I like The Road so much I blogged about it but I actually think it is the rare instance where it is better to watch the movie first.

The last movie that really got me going was The Fountain. But you have to have very strange taste in movies to watch that one (It's a Darren Aronofsky film, if I recall correctly).

"In Love and War" got my mom going for about a week one time.

Otherwise, you've gotten great recommendations. If you haven't seen Steel Magnolias or Beaches, they will definitely do the job for you.

Also... I'm not partial to it, but apparently The Champ contains the saddest scene ever (measured :tongue_smilie:):

The Saddest Movie in the World

How do you make someone cry for the sake of science? The answer lies in a young Ricky Schroder

Life is Beautiful is an amazing movie. I saw it in the theater with my sister. I love sad true story movies my mom tells me I'm sick.;)

Schindler's List

Amistad

I am David

The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas

Empire of the Sun

Faith Like Potatoes

Like Dandelion dust(my dh rented this and I didn't know it was sad, but I cried like a baby)

Man I know there are so many more but I'm drawing a blank tonight.

The Man in the Moon. I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix streaming right now. I saw that in the movies with my mom and sister when I was in high school, and all three of us were weeping.

I started crying about ten minutes into the Lifetime movie Amish Grace, and didn't stop until it was over. But, I watched it the night I got home from the hospital after DD was born, so it's possible some of that was hormones.

The last 15 minutes of Juno make me cry.

One of the earliest I remember that made me cry was Brian's Song. it's vintage 70's and about a football player with cancer.

I was going to mention this one if no one else did. I really liked that movie (and I don't even like football), but it definitely made me cry.

The Bucket List is a more recent movie that was good, but can make one cry.

Ice Castles is an older one about ice skating that I remember from my younger days.
