How do you pronounce Callum? Kay-lum?

We pronounce it: Cal - um

My son spent a couple of months in England and met a young man with this name while there. This is how he pronounces it as well.

It's popular here, too. It's a Scottish name and we pronounce it Cal-um as Cal in Calvin.:001_smile:

It doesn't sound old, but I love it and see that no one has suggested Cadence yet. Given your critera, I would probably go with Catherine for a girl, though.

That's how my neighbor pronounced it as well. Her little boy is named Callum--the Dad is Peter and from Scotland, and they told us it was Scottish for Peter.

My daughter wants to use Caliope if she has another girl.

pronounced: Kah-Lie-O-Pee

She plans to call her Caliope Rose but will probably spell it with the K instead of the C, such as Kaliope, since her first daughter is Katherine.

Then she will call her Kallie Rose for short.

I think it is really pretty :001_smile:

I've not seen anyone named Casper in a while. It's a unique--and definitely older sounding name. Hope the ghost story didn't forever ruin it. :tongue_smilie:

I'll second Constance/Connie as a nice "older-sounding" name, along with Clara and Corinne.

For boys, Casimir (maybe too ethnic LOL but I'm drawing from my own bank o' names!), Cole (Nicolas), and I like the Calvin suggestion, too!
