Well, I will have a 6th and 7th grader, don't ask me how that happened.:tongue_smilie:

I think everything is in my sig, except that I might be doing a beta test on The Logic of English, I have started using a weird high school writing thing I got for free called Build Your Writing Skills 1 & 2, that is pretty good so far. I can't believe it is considered HS, seems pretty easy for an 11 & 12 yo to do, IMHO.

I do several odd things outside of our house all year. We should be doing fencing this year, young eagles, we always do science classes at the gifted enrichment program I volunteer for, and we might have a writing class with a teacher this year. Oh, and I might try to teach Latin this year, too.

I am trying to work out a reward program for my kids actually doing and finishing work. It is driving me crazy.

Because she is a curious bird and wants to see a MONSTER thread. :)

The question is, will anyone read all the replies once the monster thread is several pages long? Jean has to because she started it!:D

Sorry. I'm a question-asker and I always wonder why anyone else would even care what I do or how I do it. I could care less what anyone else uses! Whatever works for you - go for it!

The funny this is I forgot that I posted this until I signed on this morning. I am losing my mind.

Janainaz, I thought it would be fun to see what others are using. Feel free to ignore.

Thanks everyone for sharing!

I think it's a dangerous question for many of the women on this board who second-guess their choices all the time and wonder if they are missing the next best thing. That is why I make my own plan, and keep my eyes on my own paper!

Maybe you should post this question again 3, 6, and 9 months after school has started (for most) and see how many stick with their choices!

I actually like to read threads like these mostly for the grade levels ahead of where we are at. Sometimes, I get some ideas for the future and I put some notes according to grade level in a word doc for future exploration. Otherwise, I'd completely forget about all the wonderful things available out there for junior high/high school that might not be included in WTM!

My siggy has our choices for next year.:001_smile: Now, if only I could make up my mind about the following year.:tongue_smilie:

Well, I think you're reading something into my response that ??? is not there. My comment about it being a "dangerous" question was written with a bit of humor, and so there is no need to be defensive.

I was asking in a nice way - truly curious if anyone actually reads through all the responses to see what everyone else is doing. And for those who are still deciding, I wonder how a thread such as this helps them to make their own decision. It's a bit different from discussing the pro's and con's of a particular curriculum.

Who really cares if people do or don't read through all the responses? I skim through threads all the time and I am sure many others do the same.

As far as this thread being helpful, why don't we leave that decision up to the people who choose to read this thread. I am sure they can think and decide for themselves.

Do you open other threads that don't interest you to tell the OP she/he shouldn't have posted it because you don't think it's appropriate?

I would have never tried MFW if not for threads like these. I'm fairly sure I'm going to use it through High School but I love to look and investigate other products that could really work with it.

I am not comprehending how one can call a thread like this dangerous in the midst of a forum like this.

That said, I LOVE the idea of a thread several months from now on the topic of what, if anything, has changed from the original plans. Actually, I'm pretty sure I recall lurking over one late last year so I guess that's not a novel idea. It will probably happen before Christmas and I'll be looking forward to it. Can't wait to post and read updates! :D

This year I can join in! :001_wub: It may not be read by all and no-one may ultimately care but rest assured, I was happy typing about it anyway. :D

This year I'll be using:

Math: MM1, supplementing with The Verbal Math Lesson and Mathematics Power Learning for Children.

Language Arts: I'm intensely focused on wrapping up phonics. I'm using HOP 2 + phonogram drills. I'm making reference to Blend Phonics to make sure I'm covering everything and will perhaps supplement with it. Once phonics is completed I'm adding Spelling Workout A and Song School Latin. If SW A gets completed this year, we'll move on to SW B and add FLL1.

Everything else: Heart of Dakota's Little Hearts for His Glory including A Reason for Handwriting A, Thinking Skills Gr. 1 and Our Father's World.

I'll also be using Little Hands to Heaven with my youngers, the oldest of which I am using Blend Phonics with and who will eventually start Saxon K Math.
