  1. We are going to Flagstaff, AZ for a 4 day weekend in a month. We really wanted to go longer BUT it is not worth the stress that it will cause if my dh is gone from the office more than 2 days. So if you had 1 FULL day at the Grand Canyon, with an 18 year old, an 11 year old, an 8 year old, a 6 year old, and a 3 year old, what would you do? We do like to hike but really only a couple miles at a time. Also we don't really have a lot of extra money (no helicopter rides). THEN if you had 1 FULL day at Flagstaff what would you do? And would you do Grand Canyon on Saturday and Flagstaff on Sunday OR vise versa? Thanks in advance. PS - This is the first time for ANY of us to the Grand Canyon.
  2. I agree with this, BUT the parents should not be obligated to pay for college.
  3. She can be tested out and will still have to take 2 more years of Spanish. But having 4 years of Spanish look better then just 2 and it really is needed especially in SoCal.
  4. Crimson Wife, Is there a reason why you went to Salier-Oxford and not Word Within? I am thinking about next year vocabulary, I would just like to know. Thanks in advance :)
  5. You also might want to look into what high school classes are available for middle school grades. With the new push of Common Core (well I assume this is the reason), Algebra is no longer considered a high school course in CA. Then make sure the high school that your ds is going to will accept these credits, for instance do they need to be a-g courses? My oldest will be taking High School Geometry in 8th grade, as well as, High School Spanish in 7th and 8th grade. The high school that she MIGHT go to will accept these.
  6. I have never regretted homeschool but I have almost thrown in the towel. Towards the end of last year my dh strongly suggested that our oldest go to a local charter school. It was a REALLY rough year and I did not have the energy to even disagree, so she applied, she was tested, and was excepted. After that she asked what she would be studying, so we made an appointment to look over the curriculum and meet a couple of the teachers. After the meeting she said she did not want to go, because she would not have time for us AND she would be bored (pretty much everything that we were shown she has already studied). My dh, dd, and I sat down and a had a real heart to heart. We decided that instead of me teaching, my dd she would self study BUT she had to follow a weekly schedule. That would give me more time with the other 3. This year has been AWESOME. I love homeschooling and I thank God quite a bit for the ability to do so :)
  7. My dh's card was compromised, the bank called my dh to ask if the last few purchases were his. They refunded his money and issued a new card.
  8. What a beautiful story, thank you for telling us :) Now need to wipe the eyes.
  9. :iagree: Wear a mask and wash your hand well after. My grandfather found out he had cancer and passed away less then 6 months later. When my grandfather found out, he and my grandmother sold their Florida home (this was before the bubble burst), moved to MD so that my grandmother could be near family. Once my grandmother was comfortable in her new place, he then checked himself in to a hospice. He told my mom that he was ready to go home knowing that his wife and family are OK, he passed away less than a week later.
  10. Lets start with the top of the house and move down Girls' room - built in bookshelf, expand their bathroom, replace the wood on their balcony with trek, put a upright washer and dryer in their bathroom. Hallway - make the hallway built in bookcase into a linen closet Whole upstairs - replace the cracking pergo for real wood Stairs - replace the carpet for wood and replace the overly painted white rod iron for new rails Under stairs - put in storage drawers Kitchen (where to begin) - move the stove (why you would put a stove near an entrance is beyond me :glare: ), make one wall just storage, replace sink for a large/deep sink, replace the pergo floor for the tile that matches the rest of the house, replace the cracked counter top Whole downstairs - fix the tile so that it is one level and lined up. Punch out the dining room so that we can add an additional bedroom for in-laws Put a shower in the downstairs bathroom so in-laws have a shower Convert garage to office for dh so he can quit his job Outside Level backyard and plant fruit trees, grapes, berries and have them produce fruit next year Have tortoise area already done Have 1 type of grass in the front yard I know it is a lot, but we are starting to tackle it little by little - maybe we will be done by the time we move
  11. I agree (do we still have I agree button?)
  12. They do a Black Friday sale, my ILs just got my girls a few things. Oh, well.
