dirty ethel rackham
Too many excellent ones to choose from. But, I'd have to say my two favorites are Arsenic and Old Lace and North by Northwest. Two vastly different movies.
momtoamiracle
Not my favorite either, but I do love him and Deborah Kerr together. yes they are, guess I don't like the premise of the movie most. MR Blandings builds his dream house My Favorite Wife Talk of The Town People Will Talk Run, Don't Walk (his last film) Crisis is ok. Oh who can forget Father Goose and Houseboat? I need to do a C.G. marathon myself!
Laura Corin
I just watched North by Northwest with my boys, but I'm not sure if that's my favourite. Odd fact: he came from my home town, growing up in some poverty, then reinvented himself via tumbling training which gave him grace and emigration which produced a beautiful light accent. Reading the article was strange for me: my mother had an operation in the nursing home where his mother lived; I performed at the Bristol Hippodrome where he first saw theatre; I had my wedding reception at the Grand Spa Hotel where he used to stay. My mother still lives about a mile away from where he grew up. Laura

But the repartee between the two in both movies is fun. I also love Mr. Blandings. So does my dad. Must ring true for him.

My grandmother had a collection of Cary Grant movies on VHS that we watched constantly growing up. Father Goose was one I remember us wearing out the tape of. gardenmom5
Oh and we love "Arsenic and Old Lace" too. there was a remington steele episode where I *swear* pierce brosnan was channeling Cary Grant in Arsenic and Old lace. I love the philadephia story, but it's not one of Cary's best. It was Jimmy Stewarts oscar though.

shanvan
I like them all too! We also watch The Bishop's Wife around the holidays every year. Question for all you CG fans: What actor today most closely approximates the charm of Cary? I've tried, but I can't come up with one! momtoamiracle
I've never been a fan of arsenic and old lace. Too much yelling I think. Charm closest to Cary Grant. I don't think anyone matches him, but for me I think Matthew Maconahay (sp) in earlier years might come close, set of. :auto:

Jennifer3141
North by Northwest. This is my favorite CG movie. As much as I like CG, it will always be Jimmy Stewart for me. I remember distinctly being about 9 or 10 and having a HUGE crush on him until my mother explained that he was about 80. :(
redsquirrel
Oh goodness... In no particular order: Bringing up Baby Philadelphia Story Arsenic and Old Lace Mr Blandings An Affair to Remember just doesn't do it for me. It should, but it doesn't. MollyAnn
I know this thread is a couple days old, but I LOVE Cary Grant so I have to add my own. Father Goose Operation Petticoat His Girl Friday People Will Talk Mr Blanding Builds His Dream House There is not an actor today who even comes close to the charm of Cary Grant. He was amazing.
