  1. Good morning!! I haven't been here in at least 6 months...I've gone back to work teaching preschool (in my state, preschools have remained open through all this) and have gone back to school to get a masters in teaching. I have so much to do this weekend, inattentive ADD has struck me big time, and I need some accountability. So here goes... -coffee -work on project due for school (designing a classroom, writing an essay about said design; need to figure out how to use a computer program to draw out classroom, ugh) -get transcript for DS2 so he can register for community college Calculus and Chem in the fall -send grades and honors declarations to homeschool group for this prior year -send application to homeschool group for upcoming school year -workout (cardio and core) -grocery store (it is embarassing how long it has been since I've been to the store) -cook for my family (it is even more embarassing how long it has been since I've made what can be described as a real "dinner") -laundry -make sure DS1 is doing the work required so he actually graduates high school in two weeks (this has been an ongoing disaster) -prep for preschool for the upcoming week -send some files to FedEx to be color copied and laminated I have missed all of you so much and can't wait to see you all today!!
  2. I teach preschool and deemed "essential" (South Carolina). The only thing we have done really is check everyone's (staff and children) temperature before they enter. Anything over 99.5 and you are sent home. One of the moms of a student made all the teachers at school masks, but we do not wear them at school. Parents are no longer allowed to come pick up their children from the classroom either - they can only come to the front entry and someone brings or picks up their child from the classroom and delivers him/her to the front. And all coats, jackets, backpacks, etc. must stay at school. If anyone in our immediate family has been around someone diagnosed with the virus we are supposed to stay away from work for 14 days. Same for kids. I have a class of 10 4 year olds. Only 3 are coming. It has been the same 3 kids every day since day 1. Two more have indicated they will return next week.
  3. Good morning! DH and the boys left at 8 AM to drive up to PA to visit DH's family. I have to work tomorrow and Monday so darn it all, I couldn't go....LOL. So I have a few days of beautiful solitude. I am going to work my rear end off today doing stuff so I can relax the rest of the time. This list is long, it is more of a dream list than a reality list. Especially since just sitting in my PJs lounging on the couch seems to be a fabulous idea. -coffee -see everyone off -watch England vs. South Africa cricket (anything to stall) -laundry (at this point it is towels and loads of delicates (sweaters mostly) that require special treatment) -thoroughly clean master bathroom -dust entire downstairs -clean off my desk in the kitchen (DH, God love him, "cleans" the kitchen every day. This pretty much entails taking anything that isn't 100 percent his and throwing it on my little desk area. Sigh) -vacuum entire downstairs -figure out whether I want to clean any of the upstairs or whether the kids should do it since they are the only ones who ever go up there - NOPE -clean out fridge -take out trash and recycling -give dog a bath (if it warms up a bit) -workout (lower body weights) -throw out all the homemade Christmas treats that have been gifted to us by students, neighbors, realtors, etc because I am the only one who eats them and I've gained 2 lbs. this past week and that is enough to start me on a downward spiral -figure out what books I need to order for DS18's second semester -maybe come up with a bulk cooking/freezer meal (Whole30 compliant) plan to maybe shop for and cook this weekend -relax
  4. I used to participate on and off on this thread years ago. Unfortunately, I haven't met my goal the past two years (well, maybe if I can read 24 short stories between now and 12/31 I can salvage 2019...🤣). I have a stack of 6 books from the library just waiting to be read in 2020 and I look forward to participating in this thread once again!
  5. Merry Christmas to all!!! I miss being on this thread every day. Hope you all have a lovely day with family/friends. xoxo
  6. MysteryJen, thanks for asking! The new job is ok. Some good moments, some not so good moments. Unfortunately I'm still building up my immunity to being around that many kids (LOL) and today is the first day in a month that I haven't had a sore throat, or felt liquid in my ears, or have a froggy voice. Hopefully I am good to go. I also got accepted to grad school and start my Masters in Teaching Elementary Education in mid-January.
  7. Good morning! Now that I work I miss this thread so hopefully I can still participate on the weekends. In no particular order: -binge watch The Ranch with DH -trade in old iphone 7s for new iphone 11s -hair appointment at 4:45 -watch NFL -laundry DONE: 0 -make dinner reservation for Christmas -work on Christmas bows for kitchen cabinets -maybe go out with DH tonight to hear some local music in Greenville
  8. I get mine done every two weeks. I love them. I feel they detract from the dark circles under my eyes 🤣 I get compliments on them all the time. People think they are my real lashes.
  9. Well my clearances came back (I'm sorry I called to check on them...) so I guess I'm off to work at some point.
  10. Good morning! My clearances still haven't come back so another day at home. -coffee -DS18 off to school -straighten up for cleaning people -stay out of cleaning people's way (with my parents here...) -do the mountain of laundry DS18 left behind -parbroil my string beans for the greenbeans and tomato dish for Thursday -chop up all onions and celery for making broth and stuffing -library to pick up book for report DS15 has to do -workout (may go for nice long walk as today is cardio and I need to get away from everyone...) -get leaves on the dining room table, make sure I know where all my Thanksgiving platters and linens are (I know I unpacked them when we moved but where did I put them) -await arrival of my aunt and uncle (no idea when they are coming, but I should probably savor the peace and quiet before two more people get here) -dinner tonight (probably the frozen lasagnas I picked up at costco the other day)
  11. Good afternoon! I am late to this party... My clearances for work still haven't come back yet so darn the luck, I'm home again today... Done: -coffee -kids to school/co-op -workout To Do: -make garlic cheesy herb muffins for Thursdsay and freeze -make homemade cranberry sauce for Thursday and put in fridge (quickly running out of space in both fridges) -relax and visit a bit with my parents -pick DS15 up from co-op -listen to DH cough like he is dying. I would be sympathetic, but I had the same cough last week and he makes it sound a million times worse than need be -discuss upcoming 50th birthday (boohoohoo) cruise with high school friends (we need to figure out if we are really going to do this or not) -do a bit of research on the grad school program I am beginning in January Hope everyone is doing well!!
  12. Good morning! DH is coughing every 2 seconds, so there go our plans for the evening, and it is raining all day so there go our plans for yardwork.... -coffee -workout -laundry -get house ready for onslaught of overnight Thanksgiving guests (my parents arrive tomorrow, an aunt and uncle on Tuesday) -double and triple check that I have everything I need for Thanksgiving meal as the grocery store was an absolute show yesterday (and I suspect will only get worse) -watch some college football
  13. Congrats to your daughter, Jean! My profoundly gifted son flunked. He will actually spend some time reviewing and take it again tomorrow.
  14. Jean, LOL I'm hoping to take DS15 to do his written test, too! Good luck to both of them! I'm still waiting for my background check for my teaching job to clear so I may have more at home, online training to complete. Until I hear from my boss I'm going to try to get some stuff done. -coffee -DS18 off to school -school with DS15 -DS15 to DMV -Sams Club to pick up dog's prescriptions -workout (legs and abs today) -figure out Thanksgiving menu and shopping list -figure out a batch cooking schedule for this weeked (maybe, LOL) -laundry -make dermatology appoint for me
  15. Good morning! Sorry, I have been MIA lately. I accepted that job and started last week. Mostly been doing training so I haven't been able to get into "my" K4 classroom yet. I was training with the 2 year olds and was coughed on, sneezed on, etc. so much that I got so sick on Friday. So I had to take my grad school entrance exams with a 103 degree fever and all discombobulated. But that is over and done with and a new week begins today. I get to do my training from home today. It is on the computer and my clearances haven't come back yet so I can't be at school. Darn the luck, right? I need to start getting serious about planning Thanksgiving. I am hosting my family plus my parents, and two sets of aunts and uncles. I have a great cooking plan that was in Southern Living magazine about 15 years ago where you start cooking and freezing the Sunday before Thanksgiving so I plan to follow that so I only have to do a little each day. My parents fly in Sunday and will be a HUGE help. They do a lot when they are here. Anyway... -coffee -get DS18 off to school -DS15 off to co-op -workout (kickboxing cardio today) -get the laundry started DONE: 4 -training (probably about 8 hours left, ugh) -talk to school to find out if my clearances have come back/and what I need to do tomorrow if they haven't -start to find substitutes for my remaining three volunteer days at co-op -hair appointment at 4:15 -pick up DS15 from his honor society service project at 6:15 (gonna be tight getting there after my hair appointment) -home and finish any training that is left -football and bed Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
  16. Hugs to you, SKL. School drama is so very hard to deal with.
  17. Awww....thanks, Jean! I fear I'm in the midst of a midlife crisis. Menopause isn't helping any, either....
  18. Good morning! It's Monday. Still trying to decide about this job or not. I'm subbing today and this morning has been a show and I'm wondering how on earth my family is going to transition to me not being available to do all the things for them whenever they need them. Hmmmm. Maybe this work thing isn't so bad after all... -coffee -DS18 off to school -take DS15 to co-op -sub in the co-op nursery (there will be anywhere from 6-9 little babies under one year old) -drop DS15 and the other co-op kid from my neighborhood off at home -go back out in the direction of co-op to the mall to look for pants -study for grad school entrance exams -workout (upper body weights) -hound last person who needs to write a grad school rec for me -dinner (oh yeah, that....) -watch football and/or collapse into bed
  19. Good morning! Have a feeling today will spent on the couch watching college football (with our Clemson Tigers playing tonight). -coffee -workout (chest/triceps and then abs) -laundry DONE: 0 -need to take DS15 pants shopping -call to reschedule 11/18 hair appointment -practice exams for grad school
  20. Good morning! Still no job decision. I am going to shadow two more experienced teachers since my experience with the first one left much to be desired (and sadly, I'd be working with her for a while until a new classroom opens up). -coffee -get DS15 started on school work -shadow at school -workout (kickboxing) -practice exams for grad school entrance exam -clean something -declutter something -find out about tailgating for HS football game tonight -grocery store depending on answer above -research doctors in my area who specialize in female hair loss (sigh, my hair is thinning at my temples and it is no longer ignorable) -high school football game -early bed because I think we have a lot of yard work to do tomorrow since Clemson is away
  21. Good morning! Still torn about this job and not sure what I am going to do about it. DS15 got hurt in the co-op dodgeball tournament yesterday. He fell backwards, put his hand down to brace his fall, and stretched/sprained a tendon in his wrist. While DS18 could have his arm cut off and say his pain is 1 on a scale of 1-10, DS15 is howling and puts his pain level at a 10. Sigh. -coffee -get DS15 focused on school (he keeps coming to me whining every 10 minutes about his arm) -workout (the leg day I didn't do yesterday...) -apply for two corporate law jobs (very rarely are there corporate transactional legal jobs in my area, today there were two new ones...) -practice tests for grad school entrance exam -grocery store -laundry DONE: 1 -clean something -declutter something -don't stress eat -laser hair removal appointment at 4:15 -try to reschedule upcoming hair appointment for evening or weekend hours -dinner (found some awesome meatballs and sauce I made a while ago in the back of the fridge so going to have that)
  22. Good afternoon! Been thinking all day about whether to take this job. Sigh. I really need to get moving on life. Done: -coffee -take DS15 to co-op -pick up dog prescription from Sam's club Seriously that i all I've done? Yes. To Do: -think about job some more, discuss with DH, etc -deal with some angsty personal stuff I've got going on -workout (leg day, yuck) -feed people (DS18 and I just had a late Chinese food lunch so I'm not hungry) -gather paperwork so I can take DS15 to test for his drivers permit tomorrow (been putting this off for a long time because I'm not entirely sure DS15 is ready to drive the way DS18 was at that age)
  23. Well, I got offered a job. No idea what I am going to do at this point. So torn. Is it wrong that the only reason I want to go back to work is because I am bored to death at home and want my own money? It isn't like DH denies me anything but I haven't worked since 2002 and I want my own stash to do as I please (read: coolsculpting and putting my you-know-whats back up where they were 10 years ago :)) But boy were those little kids so cute yesterday....I love littles and think I would like working with them, just not the place or the other people working there.
