  1. Moving is the worst. We moved in March and my youngest (homeschooled) needs a friend SO badly. Me, too. I'm getting tired of just hanging out with DH. 🤣
  2. Dawn, I hope everything went well for your moves. You are closed on both the old and new houses, right? If so congrats!
  3. Good morning! Was looking forward to a do nothing sort of day but then realized I have a lot of little things that need to be taken care of. I'm not good with getting the small stuff done. -coffee -take out trash (why with 2 men and a boy in the house am I doing this??) -workout (cardio blasts) -clean up kitchen -call vet to schedule rabies vaccine for Scooby -laundry (sheets, towels, kitchen dishtowels) -return library book that was due yesterday -pick up drycleaning for DH -call school about the fact they charged us for two kids when only one is going - NOPE school closed this week, sending email instead and will call next week -email electrician -do some batch cooking for DS18 -go to Hobby Lobby looking for bunting for our porch for July 4th (and hope store still has them and isn't full of Christmas stuff already...) -help DS18 with his outdoor garden chores - nope. DS18 has decided he is "too tired" to do these. DH will not be happy -dinner (I have a ton of eggs and bacon so maybe a Whole30 quiche) -binge watch 24 with the family
  4. Good morning! We have "feels like" temps in the 100s today here in SC. That may limit how much yard work DS18 and I were going to do today. -coffee -heartworm pill for dog (and need to order next 6 month supply) -workout (going on a 5 mile walk with DS14 asap before the heat is unbearable) -call DS18's school about tuition (they think DS14 is attending this fall and they took out payment for both today - yikes I thought DH was going to have a heart attack) -email electrician about DS18 doing a few shadow days this summer -convince DS18 that he should apply to the Help Wanted ad at Play It Again Sports (considering a kid from his school is working there, and DS18 is all about sports) -laundry DONE: 2 -read -outdoor work (I think this may not happen today because of the heat but DH seems to think DS18 should be removing some shrubs today) -plan last Alaska shore excursion -clean out fridge -clean up master bathroom -dinner (left overs)
  5. LOL! Reminds me of the commercial where the wife sends the husband to pick up "a bunch of asparagus" and he loads the whole cart with asparagus....
  6. Good morning! Hot and humid day here and attitude is hovering between "do not care at all about anything" and "whatever". We should have gone to church today, but did not. DH and I are sitting around watching cricket (we became oddly fascinated by it a year ago...) -coffee -roast some chicken for DS18 -Costco (maybe, but then again see general attitude) -workout (upper body weights and abs) -plan our Alaska shore excursions -should get some housework or yardwork done -laundry -read -come up with some sort of meal plan for the week (DS18's strength coach told him he needs 5000 calories a day, I'm doing Whole30, so there are lots of considerations going on at once) -dinner (if we go to costco I'm getting something premade; if not, it is going to be pasta night tonight)
  7. Good (late) morning! Glad it is the weekend. We were supposed to be in TN for a travel baseball tournament but too many people backed out. Sigh. -coffee -laundry DONE: 1 -workout (lower body cardio and weights) -read -make sure DS14 is doing some form of summer work -go out and do something with DH (and maybe kids) tonight - either a minor league baseball game, or DH and I will go somewhere to listen to live music
  8. Good morning! So aggravated with all the males in the family. At this point, I have to face the fact that the problem is probably me, LOL. -coffee -wait around for sprinkler guy to go over some areas that aren't getting water/sprinkler heads are malfunctioning (supposedly will be here between 7 and noon) -laundry DONE: 1 (mostly linens, cleaning cloths) -workout (HiiT cardio) -make chicken thighs for DS18 -dust dining room, library, bedroom -read -dinner - everyone is on their own; DH has a business dinner
  9. Been a complete bum since my workout, binge reading outside in the sun. May be opening a drink shortly...
  10. If I was at someone's house and had to use the bathroom and someone told me not to flush, I seriously think I would hold it in.
  11. I think about you and this situation often. I am so glad to hear this update. I love the bit about the shirts, too.
  12. Good morning! Not much going on. -coffee -workout (chest, triceps, shoulders) -laundry -return book to library -drycleaner -straighten up master bathroom -read -dinner (DS14 is cooking chicken schnitzel, which means the kitchen will be a wreck once he is done) -clean kitchen
  13. Selkie, I KNOW you are desperate if you are stepping foot in the boys bathroom. You deserve some sort of medal. I'd rather bask in my own grunginess than step foot in either of my kids' bathrooms.
  14. Good morning! Not much going on here. DS18 seems to be a bit better but still something seems "off". He has absolutely zero care or plan for post high school life (other than it will not involve more school) and seems focused solely on baseball and strength and conditioning. His coach told him he has to eat 5-6000 calories a day. I don't know whether I am (a) jealous, or (b) terrified of having to pay for and prepare all this food. LOL. Hope everyone enjoys a summer Tuesday! -coffee -workout (today is a routine aptly named Butts and Guts) -laundry DONE: 2 -straighten up kitchen, vacuum and mop -email the electrician and see if DS18 can shadow them for a few days this summer (he would be an amazing electrician, he has that sort of aptitude but since I suggest it it will most likely get a shrug and no interest) -make sure DS14 is reviewing Spanish vocabulary and doing some form of summer work -remind DS18 that he has summer work for English (his absolute worst subject) and AP statistics; check to see if there is summer work for any of his other classes -take dog to groomer for 12:30 appointment and pick up around 3 (in a very high traffic/disasterous road area) -maybe go to Costco while I am out that way to pick up meat, eggs, milk, etc for DS18 NOPE -make ribs and chicken thighs that are sitting in my fridge (not sure really what to do with either) -read (finished The River by Peter Heller - amazing book and I am the least outdoorsy person alive) -maybe start to organize all syllabi, work samples, grade reports, etc from this past year of homeschool -dinner (no idea what to make) -binge watch 24 with the family
  15. Vocab. DS14, who has an incredibly high IQ, cannot for the life of him handle any sort of vocabulary program. He hates it. He cannot do it. He breaks down because it is the only thing that has ever been hard for him. It is a nightmare.
  16. Good morning. DS18. Sigh. -coffee -take DS14 to co-op for yearbook and student ID photo (but first, run his only khaki shorts through a steam cycle because they look like a wild animal used them for bedding and we have to leave in 30 minutes) -run to Publix despite having spent $200 at grocery store yesterday -workout (cardio today) -cook some protein for DS18 (making some chicken, some ribs for a treat) -try to find a family counselor (for aforementioned DS18) -read -straighten up bedroom and master bath -dinner (shrimp scampi and pasta)
  17. We lost power for several hours this afternoon/evening, so nothing of substance got accomplished. Oh well, there is always tomorrow...
  18. Good morning! -coffee -90 minute walk with DH -laundry -clean up school room -finish last 2 homeschool honors class documents, start the process of begging DH to scan in what I need scanned to complete all nine files -read -dinner (pork tenderloin) -go out with DH
  19. Off to pick up DH at the airport in about 30 minutes, and then I'm making him take me downtown for a drink. 🍸
  20. Had a not so pleasant or productive "conversation" (is it a conversation if one party talks and the other shrugs?) with DS18 about a variety of things: future, attitude, entitlement, seeming to not care one bit about anything, how a shrug is not a grown up answer to any question, etc. How can this man/child have so much discipline and goal setting in one aspect of his life (baseball, the gym) but no where else?
  21. Good morning! Finally Friday! DH lands tonight around 11 pm from his week long trip, I'm sure only to turn around and do it again next week. Didn't get much done yesterday because I sat down. Once I sit and get involved in whatever the timesuck du jour is, that is it. So get it all done and then sit down. -coffee -workout (upper body weights) -deep clean family room and school room (with DS14's help) -laundry DONE: 2 -finish last two homeschool forms -take DS14 for haircut (he has picture for co-op yearbook on Monday) -make chicken, spinach and artichoke soup after that -try to sit out and get some sun -read -dinner (salmon for the boys) -binge watch 24 with the boys
