  1. Good morning! So I had my interview yesterday. I was less than impressed with what I saw in the classroom. I am about 99.9 percent positive they will offer me a job. Not sure what I'm going to do. Anyhow, regular Tuesday today. -coffee -DS18 off to school, daily check in meeting with DS15 -laundry DONE: 0 -workout (steady state cardio, will probably take a 5 mile walk through the neighborhood) -research essay portion of grad school entrance exam -practice tests for grad school exam -clean something -declutter something -pick up dog prescription from Sam's Club -take DS15 for haircut if he gets his work done -make sure DS15 is studying for his drivers test and vow to take him Thursday to do written test at DMV -follow up on substitute teaching application with county (the online system is a big loop of no answers) -dinner -baseball meeting at DS18's school at 7 pm
  2. Haha, Selkie! I hate when I cannot complain about the mess because it is mine! 🤣
  3. Good morning! Monday is co-op day but luckily my neighbor is working there today so she is doing pick up and drop off. Saves me over an hour today. Weekend with our friends was great, but WAY too much drinking. Three late nights in a row does not work for me at this age. -coffee -kids off to school/co-op -second interview for pre-k teaching position (they wanted me to come in and be observed working with the curriculum) -workout (today is biceps, back and shoulders) -research essay portion of grad school entrance exam -spend 1 hour studying for entrance exam -hound one of the people who agreed to do grad school rec for me (the other two did them already) -get resume to temp agency -look online for some free courses on Microsoft office products (back in my day when I last worked I had my own secretary, now I suspect I need to know how to do my own admin stuff) -look over DS15's upcoming few weeks of work - I suspect he has several honors projects due in various classes and I need to make sure I know what is coming down the pike -have a discussion with DS15 about things falling through the cracks (I was letting him manage his own school work - he is not quite ready for complete ownership yet) -dinner (no idea - I think I have some Italian pork chops I can defrost, or a corned beef I can throw in the crockpot) Hope everyone has a great Monday!!!
  4. Yes. I am 49 and believe I am in the throes of one. My 18 year old will most likely be entering the work force next year and my 15 year old has all his classes done online or through co-op so I am not really teaching him anymore. I think about going back to work, but I have a 17 year gap in practicing law and as far as I can tell no one is looking for that (and I used to live near a major city where there were lots of opportunities, there really aren't any corporate law jobs in my little town now). I am thinking about going back to school to become a teacher but then I think (a) why, and (b) is anyone going to hire a 52 year old first year teacher when I graduate in 2 years? So yeah, I hear you.
  5. DId a lower body cardio blast/weight workout and then a 20 minute ab add on. Current status: laying on floor and not getting up.🤣
  6. Currently 74, but low tonight is 36. Rain all day until about 7 pm. Neighborhood HOA facebook page is asking people about rescheduling neighborhood TorT for Saturday. Which is stupid, because there is a home Clemson game that night and approximately half the neighborhood will be at the game. Unfortunately, this means my steady diet of Recees peanut butter cups may continue on for a few more days, much to the dismay of my jeans.
  7. Good morning! My BFF from Florida and her husband land at 11 pm tonight to spend the weekend with us. Today is so gray and rainy and not really helping my mood any. It is currently 71 degrees and humid. It will be in the 40s later tonight/tomorrow. -coffee -get DS15 situated with school -furniture delivery between 10 and 2 -laundry DONE: 4 -workout (going to try and fit this in today, I've gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks UGH and the bags of Halloween candy are not helping matters any) -practice for grad school entrance exams (took practice tests and scored way above state minimums but still practicing) -get house ready for guests -go to grocery store for some snacks for tonight, alcohol for tonight, breakfast for tomorrow -bank to cash check from substitute teaching yesterday -dinner (do Halloween candy and pumpkin seeds count???)
  8. Good morning! Regular-ish Tuesday here. -coffee -get DS15 situated with school (DS18 on fall break, today is last day) -workout (full body weights) -straighten up for cleaning people...make sure kids have done same -laundry (doing tons of bedding still this AM...) -cleaning people at 1 -eyelash appointment at 2 -practice exams for Praxis test -dinner (something on grill so as to not mess up my clean kitchen)
  9. Interview went well, they want me to come back next week. However, this is pretty much a glorified day care center and I'm not sure this is the right fit for me.
  10. Good morning!! Zoo Keeper, congrats to your boys' XC team! How exciting for them! Amy, what a harrowing experience anywhere in Atlanta traffic, never mind on I75. Yikes! Glad it all worked out ok for you. So I've made some decisions. I have applied to grad school to get a masters in teaching starting in the spring. I may or may not sit for the SC bar exam in February. That would be a whole lot of studying at first and I'm not sure that it is possible to do both. I'm not sure I want to sit for SC bar because I do corporate law and usually you can have your bar in any state to do that (mine is in NY and DC) and it is going to cost close to $4k to sit for the exam and take a proper prep class. I guess I'm trying to keep the option of law and teaching open to me. DH thinks I'm crazy, doesn't understand why I want to go back to work at all, etc. I am reminded too about how much I hated practicing law in the first place. Midlife crisis, party of one, your table is ready. -coffee -DS15 to neighbor's house for her to drive him to co-op (yay) and DS18 on fall break so no school -go to Walgreens when it opens at 8 for resume paper (some day I will be organized, I swear it)-interview at 10:30 for teaching position (this private school contacted me from my resume off of Indeed, not sure exactly what this job entails or if I am even qualified but we shall see...) -workout (cardio, I think I've gained 5 lbs in 2 weeks...) -pick up DS15 from co-op (this interview is near co-op so depending on how long interview runs I may just stick around Greenville until it is over) -online practice for PRAXIS exam to enter grad school in the spring -laundry DONE: 0 -clean something -declutter something -dinner (no idea) -gather all paperwork to take DS15 to DMV to take his written driving test tomorrow.....
  11. Good morning! Amy, safe travels! We too are expecting rain here all weekend. I'm sure homecoming and the Clemson game tomorrow will be tons of fun in the rain. Not. Good luck to your DS, Jen! Hope he recovers nicely from his root canal. So DS15 just got a new desk in his room and I feel so lonely down here by myself on the first floor. He has become so self sufficient lately and all his classes are either online or at co-op and I really need to find something to do to occupy my time. I am so bored and restless and just feeling like I need a purpose in life. Sort of like a midlife crisis. I am toying with the idea of a dual track of taking the SC Bar Exam in February and going back to school in January to get a teaching degree. My husband of course thinks I'm nuts and can't understand why I would want to go back to work at all. I also have a job interview for Monday for a "teaching" position at a local daycare/pre-K/K place. They contacted me from my resume in Indeed so I'm not sure exactly what they have in mind since I am not a licensed teacher. Anyway.... -coffee -school with DS15 (such as it is) -workout (I think upper body weights are on the schedule today but I'm thinking a nice long walk before the rains come may be just the thing I need) -laundry (does it ever end?) DONE: 0 -start looking over the PRAXIS exams I would need to take to go back to school -clean something -declutter something -plan tailgate for tomorrow (need to check weather forecast for tomorrow...may decided to go to Clemson bars instead of tailgating with 87,000 other people) -decide if DH and I want to go to Tigerama pep rally at Clemson tonight or just stay home and go see the floats tomorrow
  12. Selkie, I have to take DS15 to DMV to do his written test and I'm not looking forward to it (DMV or DS15 driving...) Late to this party today... Already done: -coffee -school (started) -library -applied to 2 graduate programs to go to school for a masters in teaching -grocery store To Do: -laundry -workout (need to go on a nice 5 mile walk and then come in and do some butts and guts weights) -clean something -declutter something
  13. Well so much for getting anything done tonight - DH is going out to Hanz & Franz (local beer garden, LOL) with some guys from work and I have muscled my way in. That is the one thing I miss from my working days - happy hour. 🤣
  14. Good morning! Selkie, I hope you are feeling better today!! -coffee -DS18 off to school -take DS15 to co-op -doc appointment at 9:50 -mail check to other aunt to cover funeral flower arrangement -laundry DONE: 3 -workout (total body weights) -pick DS15 up from co-op -clean something(s) -declutter something(s) -homeschool paperwork from last year... -homeschool paperwork from this year... -dinner (egg roll in a bowl) -watch World Series. Let's go, Nats!!
  15. Good morning! I was MIA Wednesday - yesterday attending a funeral out in the Hamptons in NY for my uncle. Got to see so many family members (cousins mostly) that I hadn't seen in such a long time. I need to get back in the groove here. -coffee -touch base with DS15 about school (a few missing assingments, and I feel like I have no idea what he is working on) -workout (ugh it has been a week and I feel it) -laundry DONE: 1 -call vet and order food -pick up dog prescription from Sam's Club -take DS15 for driving written test (may have to do this tomorrow) -call doctor for follow up -follow up with law and teaching jobs -grocery store (I think my family ate out for every single meal that I was gone, they need vegetables...) -dinner (no idea) -watch World Series -last year's homeschool paperwork while watching World Series
  16. Good morning! Regular old Thursday here. -coffee -DS18 off to school -go over day with DS15 and provide hand holding as needed -workout (leg day, yuck) -continue deep cleaning house - going to do foyer, downstairs hallways, powder room and office/schoolroom (including windows and front door/porch) -file paperwork from last year (has been on list every day, haven't done a darn thing) -dinner (DH still out of town so nothing elaborate) -watch baseball with DS18
  17. Happy Birthday to your DS, Selkie!! Regular Wednesday here, DH out of town this week (and next). Done: -coffee -DS18 to school -DS15 to co-op To Do: -clean family room and dining room (including windows and window wells, previous owner seemed to have an aversion to that) -workout (cardio) -pick up DS15 from co-op (over an hour endeavor back and forth and the car line from hell) -start filing homeschool paperwork from last year -dinner (no idea, may just tell the kids to get their own dinner tonight...) -see if we can locate correct calculator for DS15 to take to PSATs next week -watch baseball with DS18 while he acts mildly annoyed that I am there with him watching TV...
  18. Completely scrubbed my laundry room including cabinets and baseboards (cabinets look like previous owner hadn't wiped them down the entire 15 years they lived here...). Started working on kitchen but then DS15 happened and he wanted to make lunch. So it will be a wreck before I can even clean it. Is it possible to train boys/men ages 49, 18 and 15 to not be pig slobs? Asking for a friend.
  19. Good morning! In an attempt to shake off this funk I'm in I plan to just keep busy and not sit around being bored to death and getting caught in a cycle of negative thoughts. -coffee -DS18 off to school -go over school week with DS14 -workout -laundry DONE: 3 -call vet for food -email DS18's school to remind them DS14 is coming for PSAT next week -clean kitchen and laundry room, including windows and sills -grocery store (should grab some stuff from Costco but that is such a production...) -vet for dog food -organize last years homeschool paperwork by subject in binder for safe keeping (instead of piles of paper) -if really ambitious, start this year's homeschool paperwork... -dinner -watch baseball with DS18
  20. Good morning, ladies! I've been completely MIA the past few weeks. I don't know what my problem is, but whatever it is I must snap out of this funk sooner rather than later. Today I'm volunteering at co-op. I'm working the infant nursery. Last time there were 8 babies between the ages of 3 and 9 months....and 4 of us working. Other than that... -coffee -workout -plan school for the week -dinner (DH out of town all week so the kids can fend for themselves, LOL) -collapse into bed (fell asleep around 4 am, alarm went off at 5:30 am)
  21. Good morning! Regular day here. -coffee -school with DS14 -workout -laundry -look at attorney job listings in Greenville area (not many) and see if there is anything new to apply for -scrub master bath shower (grout looking a little ick in some places) -dinner -maybe go out with DH to a local bar to hear a local band (we have three favorite local bands - two are playing tonight at different places)
  22. Good afternoon! Typical Wednesday here. And in typical fashion, I don't want to do anything! 🤣 -coffee -DS18 to school, DS14 to co-op -run a few errands -workout (I have a 30 minute - 30 minutes only - workout on tap for today and don't even feel like doing that) -laundry -maybe do some research on legal jobs in the area and/or research going back to school to get a teaching degree (do not know what I want to do with my life only that I need to do something) -dinner (DH out of town, may just be bacon and eggs) -see if DH needs a ride home from airport at midnight...
  23. Ok so the vet thinks the recent problems were caused by the pain meds the other vet prescribed. He said if it were his dog he would make him comfortable for the time being - in other words, he doesn't think it is time yet but said if we did he would honor that, etc. This is so hard. But he came home, is walking fine (couldn't get up earlier), and ate a ton.
  24. Good morning. Was up till all hours of the AM (4 am to be exact) with the dog. Ugh. Taking him to vet at 11:30, I fear this may be the end. Of course DH is out of town. -coffee -DS18 off to school (I went back to bed, his truck is gone so hopefully he left for school LOL) -school with DS14 (who is stressing needlessly over a paper due Thursday for his honors Pre-AP Lit class - once he stresses the world ends and everything is a disaster) -vet at 11:30 (this time appointment is with awesome male doctor, not overprescribing/overtreating female one) -workout (maybe?) -laundry -try to get some school paperwork done (filing last years stuff) or house stuff (no shortage there) -dinner (no idea at this point)
  25. Good morning! Regular Monday here, except DH is out of town. I love when DH is out of town... -coffee -DS18 off to school -DS14 to co-op -laser hair removal appointment at 10:30 -straighten up a bit -workout -pick up DS14 from co-op -figure out dinner -make sure DS14 is up to date on assignments -do some research on taking the SC Bar exam and going back to school to get a masters in teaching (I feel like I need to plan for the next phase of my life and not sure I want to go back to being a lawyer or doing something completely different) -dinner
