  1. Lori D, thank you so much!! This is just what I was looking for. We made the decision to switch co-ops and the new co-op has an American history class using Notgrass and an American Lit class using four of the Notgrass choices: Uncle Tom's Cabin, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass (not literature), To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Giver. The additional books they use are: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Call of the Wild, and The Ender's Game. My daughter read To Kill a Mockingbird in eighth grade, I believe it was, but it will be good to re-visit it. She read Huckleberry Finn in her 19th Century Lit class this year and she will be happy to read Tom Sawyer. I liked The Call of the Wild when I read it so I'm good with that. I'm not thrilled with them doing both The Ender's Game and The Giver. Looking at your list right off the bat I see where she will be missing out on poetry and short stories. I think I will try to find a summer course for that or maybe we will do it together at home and try to add some in during next year. She already read the Scarlet Letter this year. She has asked to read The Great Gatsby so I can add that in and The Old Man and the Sea. Your post was most helpful and I feel like a plan is coming together! Thank you!!
  2. Lori D, I just did this same thing today for Notgrass American History. I'm curious what additional American Lit books you chose to add in.
  3. Wow! Awesome sign! Praying that this will re-energize your year! :001_smile:
  4. Our lab puppy has eaten grubs that are white also. She threw up one time and when I went to clean up the vomit I saw one and it was brown. I just assumed it took on the color of the food she had eaten. I told the vet she was eating them and he said "Yep, she's a puppy!" Gross!!
  5. I am so very sorry for your loss. Praying for you, your hubby, and your children.
  6. Do you happen to have a debit card from your bank with the Visa or Mastercard logo? That would work just like a credit card. Just a thought. I personally haven't bought the prepaid Visa or Mastercards, but I would think as soon as you load the money on it at the store that it would be active. Maybe they will know at the grocery store. Hope you get it worked out! :001_smile:
  7. His present will be my presence for another year...who could ask for more?? lol :D
  8. We just recently moved within the same county. I used to vote at a fire department, but today I will be voting at a church. I am babysitting the grandchildren right now because their schools are closed for voting. It used to be that the children just didn't use the gymnasium on voting day, now they close school. I like the old days...I'm old fashioned, lol.
  9. Praying that this is not an ectopic pregnancy. Praying the Lord can give you some peace of mind while you wait for test results. So sorry you are going through this.
  10. I watch The Bishop's Wife every year at Christmas time...one of my favorites. I also loved Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House...I'm a Myrna Loy fan too.
  11. I'm wondering if you are talking about the built in mouse on the laptop...the little flat area that I also cannot stand to use. If so, you can purchase a regular mouse and I would bet that would be much easier for him to use and far cheaper than purchasing a tablet. If you already are using a separate mouse, then please disregard my advice. :001_smile:
  12. May the Lord bless you during your labor and delivery! :)
  13. Hi. Just wondering if you are staying with MFW for 10th grade. My daughter will be in 9th grade next year and I am heavily leaning towards using MFW AHL. Are you currently supplementing MFW with another english curriculum? :)
