What are your favorite British tv shows?

Recommended Posts

I got sucked into Doc Martin, and watched all four series in less than a month (and organized the whole school year while watching). :)

I love Peep Show, IT Crowd, Inbetweeners, and Jam and Jerusalem.

Shows I liked okay: Worst Week of my Life, Coupling, and Extras

I'm ready for something new, any suggestions? I'll give anything a try.

Most of my faves have already been mentioned, but I'll add Torchwood and my fave, fave, fave, fave show right now, Being Human!!! How can you go wrong with a vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost living in a flat in Bristol?!

Oh, and I don't think I saw Father Ted mentioned either.

I'll keep thinking. Brit shows are about all we watch.

As Time Goes By is my absolute favorite. Judi Dench &Geoffrey Palmer are great.I always end with a smile after any of the episodes.

IT Crowd is fun. Season four just was on BBC. It's got some good parts.

Black Adder was good enough that we got the DVDs, but I like season 1 least.

Coupling was fun too, but pretty risqué.

As Time Goes By - big Judy Dench fan.

Monty Python's Flying Circus - (after all these years, I just saw a Nova show about who killed the Red Baron and now I know what a Flying Circus is.)

Chef

Vicar of Dilby

Good Neighbors

All Creatures Great and Small

Flawty Towers

Those are the only ones I can thing of. I wish some of the others people have listed were on our local PBS station,.

Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister.

:iagree:My all time favorite. I also enjoy Keeping Up Appearances, particularly because I watched it with my mother and remember her laughing to breathlessness. RUBS is classic, and I enjoyed Open All Hours, particularly the buxom nurse. The first two seasons of Brittas Empire has some screamers, but I haven't seen past that (I left NYC and no longer had "Saturday night Bricoms" to tape.

Just a quick mention that Torchwood, while being a great show, isn't for children by any means.

Though apparently the BBC ran an edited version of series 2 to appease all the parents who were put out that their Who-loving kids had gotten bootleg copies of series 1 and seen all the naughty bits.

The Boosh! I forgot The Boosh!

We watched the 1st series of Shameless. What a trainwreck. The father looks just like my Fil. Netflix doesn't have anything after the 1st series and I'm waiting for that before I buy them.

I love Doctor Who and Spaced. The Jeeves and Wooster series starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie is one of my favorite shows ever. I like a lot of the book adaptations and other BBC shows that often end up on Masterpiece on PBS. I watched the first episode of the IT Crowd but didn't like it enough to watch any more.
