Katiebug_1976
I was 19 w/dc #1, 20 w/dc #2, 23 w/dc #3, 26 w/dc#4, 30 w/dc#5 and am now 33 and 2 1/2 months away from delivering dc #6. I was 23 when I began homeschooling, but dc's #1,2 & 3 did go to school for a couple years before coming back home again.

skirch
I was 37 and dh was 40. We'd been married 18 years when dd came along. So while all our friends were looking forward to soon becoming empty nesters, and some were even becoming grandparents; we were just getting started. :tongue_smilie: Edited September 14, 2009 by skirch

Firefly
I was 29. And though we got pregnant the first couple months trying, virtually every one of my relatives (extended family, not immediate) assumed we had had trouble conceiving because generally everyone here gets married and starts having babies right away. They couldn't understand waiting five years. I still don't think they quite believe me, even after all this time!
katemary63
My ages at the births of my four children were, 22, 23, 28 and 38. I was a young mom and now I am the oldest mom I know with a kid my dd8's age.
patchfire
I was 19 when I had dd1. I was 24 when ds was born. And I was newly 28 when dd2 was born. Lovedtodeath
Compared to the general population around here we are pretty average. All of our family members and best friends from childhood have children older than ours. Our nieces and nephews range from 9 to 18.

melissel
28 and 31 here. I feel like I waited so long, yet I'm still one of the younger moms in my circle! It continues to surprise me. We're in the NY metro area, though, so people tend to wait longer around here.
caitlinsmom
21 almost 22. We were married almost 4 years and the phone didnt stop ringing about when we were going to have a baby. Even strangers asked. It was weird because we lived in 2 different states (couldn't have been more different!) and we were still asked by everyone. mommy2be
I got married when I was 18. Our first baby was born less than a month after I turned 23. So, we were actually married just about 5 years before we had our first. He was actually a surprise. Because I married so young people usually assumed it was because I got pregnant. Nope, believe it or not, a lot of people actually just get married because they're in love and want to be married... Shocker...

cathmom
According to this website, it is lower than average. Do you think there's a correlation between homeschooling and having your first child younger than average? Maybe you have more vivid memories of how horrible school was LOL? http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_age_of_wom_at_fir_chi-health-age-women-first-childbirth
