  1. :grouphug: I am so sorry for your loss.
  2. I think we should do a kickstarter for it, it would get it funded ahead of time and those that donated a certain amount would get their tickets paid with the funding. I still want a live conference, but a web based one would be a good start.
  3. I live in Maryland it is not really hard. You send in the notice of homeschooling, and either sign up with an umbrella school, which have varying rules depending on the umbrella, or do a portfolio, which sounds a lot harder then it is based on what my friends who do that option tell me. We did go for the umbrella option this year, but are still debating which way to go next year.
  4. Singapore Math All About Reading/All About Spelling Life of Fred (a few mentions of God, but generally secular)
  5. Our Plan for First Grade: AAR 2-3 AAS 1-2 HWOT K FLL 1 Singapore 2 Life of Fred SotW Ancients The Human Body Unit Study Space Unit Study Nature Unit Study Dinosaur Unit Study
  6. Awesome. I love my In-laws they understand boundaries, love seeing the kids, help out when we need it, and will occasionally just show up to visit because they think I could us the break (after checking before coming to make sure it is okay). Seriously I totally lucked on in the in-law lottery, mine rock.
  7. Other. When there is a need for one. Could be as young as 8 or as old as 16, it really depends on when DH and I feel that one of the small people needs it.
  8. We're doing Singapore and LoF right now, I really like the combo, since LoF shows Math being used in every day life while Singapore gives more practice and reinforcement of Math.
  9. Yep, I still have SOTW and FLL to buy and probably some lit books and a few science resources, but everything else has been bought and is sitting in wait for us to get to it.
  10. Math: Singapore (should be mostly done with 2A when we start first grade) 2A - 3A, maybe Beast, and Life of Fred Elementary. Math Mammoth sheets as needed as well. LA: AAR2 and 3, AAS 1 and 2, FLL 1, HWOT K, minor copywork, literature that goes along with SOTW. History: SOTW 1 with the activity book and outside books. Science: The Human Body, Space, Plants and Animals, and maybe one other topic (likely Dinosaurs if DS choses). Foreign Language: May start some basic Hindi and he'll continue to work on learning Hebrew and Jewish culture.
  11. One of them yes. We have a second one that has beans in it so we can use it as a weighted lap cushion as well when needed, but that is similar to the other one we have.
  12. We do on occasion, I also have therapy cushions for DS to sit on that do basically the same thing, but can be put on a chair, rather then having to buy the ball.
  13. If she still fits into Carters their jeans are fairly decent as well. You can also just buy boy jeans.
  14. Would she like a tea party, an adult one? I believe there is afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian every afternoon. Maybe just a Mom or Dad and her fancy dinner (there are some really nice restaraunts on property). Take her shopping at the outlets? or Downtown Disney without her brothers? Would she like Cirque de Soleil, it is a lot of fun as well.
  15. I have no issue with no kids allowed wedding. Just like I have no issue with kids allowed wedding. DH and I were quite happy to have children at our wedding. My sister is getting married March. My youngest (the almost 2 year old) and his cousin (just turned 2), will be there for the cerimony, though taken out if they are making noise, and pictures. After that they will both make a brief visit to the reception and head back to my sister's house with my sister's nanny for bed. My nephew is in bed by 7:15 and DS is in bed by 8pm normally, they would not be happy for long at an evening wedding so they won't be there. My older DS and DD and my niece who is 7 will party the night away at the wedding on the other hand. Other children were invited but based on when the wedding is and the location (not exotic, just not where a lot of the couples with kids live) they will be the only 3 children at the wedding. As for the you are not invited cards. We have gotten these twice from DH's only 2 cousins in the US. They also didn't invite his grandmother or parents. Both DH and I felt like it was more of a gift grab then anything, so we didn't get them a gift but wished them well. If they had sent the announcement after the wedding, we won't have cared, we aren't close, I don't think I have seen either of his cousins since DS1 was 9 months old. The whole we are getting married on xyz date at xyz venue, but you aren't invited thing however just seemed the height of rudeness.
