Back to the ER

We ended up back in the ER tonight because DH is having numbness on both sides now and very cold extremities. It was really freaking him out. They said it wouldn't be a stroke since it is both sides, and it wouldn't be any kind of disc issue because he doesn't have weakness. We're to see a neurologist next week.

On a very related note, DH has decided that life is too short to live in a fixer-upper so it looks like we're putting the house on the market.

Have they looked at his cervical vertebraes? His symptoms are being up a friend's DH issues. He thought back , hospital said no but maybe a stroke and other stuff. He went back and forth to the er until he just got the one doctor who knew. Her DH's didn't have weakness just numbness, cold and pain in his lower back.

He had surgery and has not had a problem.

Have they done a CT scan since your DH has metal?

Oh no! I'm so sorry, Moxie! :(

I hope they figure out what it is and that it's something that's not serious and that is easily treated.

I'll pray for your dh, and for you and your kids, too, because you must all be very worried. :grouphug:

Thanks but the kids haven't noticed. He is gone a lot so they didn't pick up on the fact that he was in the hospital until I mentioned it. And he had a roommate so we decided 5 kids in the room wasn't the best idea.

I am sorry. I will include your DH and the doctors and nurses who take care of him in my prayers.

I wonder if it might be a Cardiac problem or some kind of Circulatory problem, in addition to the problem he initially complained about, with his Back?     Many possibilities for the same symptoms.  For Cardiac issues one needs a Board Certified Internal Medicine/Cardiologist.

Possibly a Cardiologist can check out Circulatory issues? They will need to go down the list of possibilities and eliminate the ones that do not fit the patient, until they can come up with a Positive Diagnosis.  Once they can do that, hopefully they can help the patient improve his health.

OP: I will include your DH and the doctors and nurses who are trying to help him, in my prayers again.

Moxie that's an "update". Thanks.  I hope he is in the hospital where they can monitor him. If not, he needs to be VERY careful and take it  VERY easy.  I would probably begin with a Board Certified Internal Medicine/Cardiologist.   He needs ONE doctor who is in charge of his medical care and sending him to other specialists as needed. Much good luck to him!

I appreciate the concern, really. But there is nothing to monitor. He's had all the tests except for an MRI (which he can't have) and a spinal fluid test (which they don't want to do). All his tests are normal. Being in the hospital would just be frustrating and cost $1.5 bazillion dollars. He's trying to see a neurologist this week and he has an ortho appointment for the original back injury. He's not taking it easy because that is not his thing at all.
