We are all still cracking up over this and some of it is referencing some things you all might find funny. So thought i'd share...

 

I was shopping with all 4 dc on a Tuesday am in Sam's. Pretty empty. We were walking towards the back corner between the freezers. (thankfully no one in sight), when DD7 decided to "help" me push and stepped between me and the cart handle. (DS7 was riding in the cart.) I did not see her step in as I was looking to the left. SOMEHOW I tripped on her heels and could not regain my footing. I knew I was going to fall, so my main concern was 1. not landing on my dd and 2. not hitting my chin on the cart handle on the way down. So I moved dd7 to my right and gave a slight push to the cart and let go to keep from hitting it. Not funny so far, right?

Well I landed on my knees and hands, no major injuries other than my dignity and sore 40yo knees. 

 

The funny part comes when DS12 says "mom are you ok?" (gee son, no I'm not, help me up.) Then as he helps me up, he says "I thought you saw Benedict Cumberbatch and fell down in shock. "!!!!

 

(he didn't see me trip on dd7 as by the time he turned around, I had moved her out of the way.)

 

So my son's first thought of why I would fall to my knees is seeing BC  :laugh: .

 

As we were walking he explained that he did not see me trip and thought "what would send mom to her knees" and the quick list he says ran through his mind in the 30 secs it took him to respond were: "BC, something star trek related, seizure, tripped". 

 

At least DS said it was a very graceful fall, more like I sank to my knees then put my hands on the floor in slow motion. I guess that is why he thought I was in shock versus tripped.

 

We had a long discussion on the way home about the probability of BC being in a SAM's club in soCal on a tuesday morning shopping in the freezer section.

 

I guess ds12 knows me well?? :tongue_smilie:

That's an awesome story!

 

I can add something ... my husband and I were in London a few weeks ago (celebrating our 30th anniversary), and one evening I decided to go to Temple Church to see an a cappella group (my husband went on a pub walk  :lol:  – the only evening we split up). Well, that same evening, BC was at St Paul's (which we had briefly considered attending, a different evening), where he, along with others, read from various plays and Scripture. I do not know what I would have done if I had seen him in real life! Perhaps I would have fallen down, too!  :ohmy:  :willy_nilly:  :svengo: but yeah, more likely to see him at St Paul's than at a SoCal Sam's Club (although not impossible!)  :cool:
