I think the kids and I are going to go to the funeral many states away and dh is going to stay home. That way we can stay and visit with people for a couple more days and stop and see my 94 yo Grandma in Chicago. My dad hadn't been sick but he had a mini-stroke 2 weeks ago (which we didn't know about), but he was still going to work and driving. He spent Monday at the doctors having an MRI and CAT scan. Later that day he fell twice and coded the second time. He had a blood clot in his leg that broke free. I am comforted by the fact that he did not suffer terribly and that it wasn't a prolonged illness, surgery or recovery. He would have hated that.
